Name: Tundra Winds
Age: 25
Race: Earth Pony
Occupation: High-level runic mage(His natural magic is too volatile to channel in other ways safely, even through growing crops.)
Sector: Civillian
Position: Rune researcher/translator
Description: http://d.facdn.net/art/darcain/1400428737.darcain_hirestundra.png
He has a few scars on his body from having runes blow up or overload in some way while researching or testing them, nothing major but one very noticeable one is one that runs from his collarbone to just a couple inches below his left eye, he also wears a black cloak that covers most of his body but has heavily tattered edges, it is also enchanted with runes to keep him at a comfortable temperature, be more durable and even self-repairing.

I'm a little unsure whether I should include the other method for him to use his natural magic too, since it's so volatile he is capable of channeling it through his hooves and creating physical shockwaves, rapid use is a bit draining but very potent as he can launch himself around an area at high speeds with it or launch others through the air in a similar(less controled) fashion.

Also, is it okay for me to have a rune mage? I can't help but find the idea that unicorn magic is the only magic as a bit pretentious.

No, unicorn magic isn't the only form of magic in my opinion. Zebras and changelings have their own form of magic, and all the other pony races utilize passive magic, so i see no reason for them not to learn some active form as well. I am interested on how you will play it though, its not something usually seen. ^-^

Yeah, I rather like the idea of runic magic, it isn't as instictive or safe as unicorn magic often is, but it can be a bit more stable when the user is capable and almost anyone can learn it so long as they have some form of magic, which means that earth ponies or pegasi could learn to use it, heck, gryphons probably can too since they also use a sort of weather magic to be able to stand on clouds.

And yeah, it's not quite normal, I don't tend to have run of the mill characters anyway but I do try to make an effort to not make them (overwhelmingly)OP, hehe.

Yeah, do be careful with that, please. ^-^

Heh, I'm a bit more used to RPs where generally everyone is pretty powerful in terms of what they can do, so I'll have to get a feel for it on the site and downscale it a bit as I find it needed.

Grizzly

Most important thing is to keep the character balanced i think. The more powerful one is the more severe flaw or flaws he has to have to balance it out. For an example, Blue is a very good magic user, especially in healing, but she is physically weak, he is very small compared to others.

Chibalt

Hmm, Tundra is a pretty powerful rune user and is physically decently strong since he is an earth pony, his shockwaves can tire him out if he uses them too much, even more so if he uses runes at the same time. He also does not like authority much and doesn't really listen much to ponies he doesn't respect beyond what makes logical sense, in other words he despises most nobility.
And since he isn't a unicorn he doesn't have as much of a natural defense against magic either so he has to rely more on runes or simply dodging for defense.

Doesn't like authority huh, guess he and Blue will get along nicely lol

Chibalt

Well he more doesn't like authority in the sense that he feels most who have high authority simply do not deserve it, long as whoever's in charge isn't an idiot that refuses to listen to advice he should get along just fine.

Atlis, in your first post you said you're with me and Saiko, or so i've understood. But you're reacting to Starlight, whom is somewhere completely different. So are you with her, or with us? Just want to make sure o.O

Let me rephrase this...maybe i'll stick with you.

Chibalt

Hmm, Tundra's just wandering around at random, wonder how far away he is from the others.

I'm wondering if anyone got the reference from my last post.

Emit, you mischievous little...

Chibalt

Didn't really get the reference, what's it from? And what sort of blue clearance area could be near the outskirts? Maybe a dock or something similar if the city is on the water like Atlantis in Stargate.

Ah, wasn't aware of that, well, considering the previous occupants are long gone I doubt the AIs really have much to protest against the exploration team settling down in the rooms, I hope they aren't tidyfreaks though because it won't take long for Tundra to fill his room with rune diagrams.
