Family: A pegasus mother, and an Earth pony father.

Pet: None as of yet.

Personality: Bubbly, often jokes around. Has good control over his moods. Enjoys solitude.

Background: When Diamond was a young filly living in Baltimare, he spent his days with his friends, playing close to Horseshoe Bay. He dreamed not of being a fantastic flyer, as most pegasi did, but of being a superb swimmer. Yet, due to being smaller and weaker than most fillies his age (Not to mention, how often he fell sick) , his parents, always worried about their little boy, discouraged him from playing by the bay, and forbid him from swimming.
As time went on, Diamond became housebound. Spending all his days cooped up inside was beginning to drive him mad, so, one night, when the wind was howling something fierce, and the rain was pouring down like a flood, he snook out of the house, and headed for the bay.
Shrouded in the cloak of night, the weather-battered filly made it quickly to the bay with minimal trouble. His heart skipped a beat as he cautiously trotted down the slippery stone slope, and then over the dock, then, down a flight of mossy rock stairs, until he was at the edge of the wide, dark ocean. Diamond headed into the water, and, due to months of no practice swimming, and the shock of the freezing water causing the filly to panic, he was quickly swept out to sea.
And then it happened.
As he began to panic and flail in the deep water, the filly noticed that several markings on his form that had not been there prior to right then, had began to glow, emitting a bright, bluey-white glow. The amazement didn't last long, however, as the glow quickly vanished, and the filly sank into the briny depths.
He awoke later the next day in a hospital, surrounded by concerned ponies. He was informed that a seapony had seen the glow, and had come to his rescue. After spending another night in the hospital, he was released and was taken home. His parents, shaken by the incident, decided to escort the filly to the bay, but swore that he was to stay out of the water.
So things carried on like this for some months, and Diamond had almost forgotten about the glow that occurred that faithful night.
One dark winters eve, as he and his mother sat on the old wooden docks, a storm, more vicious than any before began to roll in. Huge waves lashed against the boats out at sea, causing them to rock to and fro. Before the lightning kicked in, one of the boats was launched into the side of some jagged rocks, crushing the left side of the small vessel. Diamond began to panic, concerned for the ponies aboard, and as he yelled for someone, anyone, to do something, familiar marks, and a bright glow returned to the colt.
Then he had an idea, he told his mother to go and get anyone she could that could help. As darkness was thick around them now, there was the problem that the boat- and the ponies aboard, would be lost. But Diamond knew what to do. As his mother sped off, the pegasus launched high into the clouded sky, and began to make his way over to the sinking boat, the glow surrounding the colt shining bright, like a diamond in the sky.
Due to the colt being visible from shore, the ponies gathered by Diamond's mother were quickly able to rescue those aboard the doomed ship, and, despite being battered and bruised, they survived.
It was that night that the colt finally obtained his cutie mark.
A white gem-like star, set against a dark purple sky.
