For about a month the download tab has said "the game is currently not available". Why is this happening?

The game is only available on the day before the Open Server Weekend all the way until the OSW ends.
The announcement will come in around a month in advance in the home page to get people ready for it.

The game is not always available. We're still making it, and it's still in its Pre-Alpha stage.
We only let people play during open server weekends, and we do open server weekends so players can help us test the new version and the servers.

The next time we plan on opening the servers for a weekend, we'll make an announcement ahead of time.
