Either way, purposely depriving yourself of sleep is an incredibly stupid things to do. Besides slowly going crazy from sleep deprivation, you completely wreck your immune system and open yourself up to get very, very ill. Take it from someone who juggled a full-time third shift position and full time schooling. Going days without adequate sleep messed me up pretty bad last year. It would be a shame to see that happen to someone else.

I understand why not sleeping for a day is a problem for you. It's because you have to move constantly. Now as for me, I work from home. I don't use up as much energy as most and I exercise regularly.

Explolguy

Not just a day, multiple days. It doesn't matter how physically fit you are. Not sleeping for multiple days will do bad things to you, whether you're aware of it or not.

Exercise isn't only about being fit... :l It sends oxygen to your brain faster and easier, requiring less sleep.
Well, that's what I heard anyway. It's proven true so far.

The point is, don't not sleep on purpose unless you accidentally find that you can go without sleeping. Even then, try to sleep regularly

I've always known that nobody has any idea what sleep is about. You can give me explanations like "resting your brain," "resting your body," or "harvesting memories" but you could do that while awake
I'm looking at articles about sleep. Sleep isn't a thing (that's a generalization of what I've discovered while searching) I'll give you one of the points that I've found, with multiple links to stress the widespread belief about this

Here's something about people not sleeping. I'm sure there are more people, but they don't want to be known for obvious reasons. (I wouldn't want to be known as the man who's awake while you sleep)

I'm not saying any of this is fact. I'm saying "accept the possibility."

I had to stay awake for 3 days because of the last time the doctors had to drug me to sleep ((Not the bad drugs the drugs used in hospitals.)) I had to compensate for my 3 day sleep by staying awake for 3 days so I can remember how to move my body.Seriously don't move from bed for a whole day you literally forget  until you stay awake a whole day.

One of the primary functions of sleep is dreams; dreams are used by the brain of offload excess 'emotional/mental baggage' of the day that did not/was not resolved, the mental effects of a sleepless night are often far more serious than the physical such as lethargy

Was going to post something. I decided not to because I really do not want this to go on any longer. I agree that sleep has a purpose, just not what most people are saying. Relieving stress? No. Defragmenting your mind? No. Relieving your body? No. I highly doubt any of these are the purpose for sleep seeing as there is a significant percentage of the world that can go with less than 5 hours of sleep without any consequences. (it's under 10% but more than 2%)
(significant percentage means "not a decimal")

I'm having trouble understanding exactly what Equestrian and Ozzy are going back and forth about.

The reason for sleep, but I'm done discussing about it ;)

You can still talk about it. I just don't want to brony community to think I'm crazy. (Because that in itself is a difficult feat, but everybody is so sure that sleep has the purpose they envision it to be when studies and science prove that it obviously isn't. Okay... I'm discussing it right now, but this is the last time :I)

Des Monty

Alright well if you don't want to talk about it I won't pressure you into it. I'll jump in if the discussion continues.
