Let's ask his voice. Peter New should know. He knows everything. But Larson still knows more.

He doesn't know.

Let's just say Big Mac is "simple" and leave it at that.

What do you mean by "simple". Just a pony with a simple lifestyle, perhaps? But I still want to know technically if Big Mac is shy or introverted.

Don't tell me you don't know what "simple" means in this context.

Spoiler: show
I somewhat don't understand why he'd be called "simple". Other then his lifestyle and how he does things.

I feel that he is more stoic, my theory is that  after the death of his parents he took the role to stay strong and endure the pain so that he could care for his family so they and the farm didn't fall completely to pieces, and it developed into the strong pony of few words he is today.

So Big Macintosh used to talk more before his parents died? What's stoic anyways? He'd still be considered an introvert by real life standards.

He's not shy. Shyness by definition insinuates that one is uncomfortable and anxious in social situations, but Big Mac is not, he just prefers to keep to himself is all.

If he was shy, he'd probably also speck in a quieter tone of voice and be terrified of things liking being made fun of. At least that's what Fluttershy is.

So, he's just a reeeally quiet introvert.

Most introverts are quiet though. It's one of the few things that introverts and shy people have in common, that they tend to be quiet a lot.

I don't think he's as shy as people make him out to be. In Filli Vanilli, he performed multiple times with The Ponytones in front of large crowds under a lot of pressure. He also took part in a turkey gobble during that, which he had apparently won many times before.

Well, Apple Bloom seems to not understand shyness very well then. Because she thought that Big Mac was very shy. Many fans have Big Mac paired up with Fluttershy because they believe that both are very shy. However, shy people and introverts truly have nothing in common and have total differences. As I said before, it's impossible for someone to be both shy and introverted. It like being someone who's absolutely paranoid and afraid of everything in life.

i vote introvert, a lot of ppl are introverts and share traits big mac has

Makes a whole lot more sense if you ask me. He doesn't show any traits that a shy person would have. Otherwise, he'd be specking in a lower tone of voice and be a little more afraid of specking.
Quote from: Midnight Breeze on 2014 Aug 26, 18:02:10
He's just a loner is all.

Technically, a loner is considered a introvert so you are saying that he's an introvert. At least that's what a test I took on personality told me.

Big Macintosh seems to be my favorite character since his personality is very quiet like. What I don't get is how his little sister, Apple Bloom thinks that he is very shy when he appears more to have a introverted personality. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I would think that he has characteristics that both shy and introverted people have. As I said, I don't believe it's even possible to be shy and also be introverted since introverts tend to want to be left alone and like to talk as with shy people who are scared that other people won't like them and will make fun of them. As with Fluttershy as she is a prime example of a very shy person. They want to be in with conversations, but are too scared of not fitting in. Introverts also can talk to people with ease, but prefer not to talk because they don't like to. They also need time alone after talking to some people because it gets tiring to them. Shy people don't mind talking as long as they are well liked for who they are and like Fluttershy will talk in a quieter tone of voice. As you see, Big Macintosh I think is introverted and not really someone I'd consider a shy person because of the characteristics he posses.

Well, I'm so sorry that I broke the rules. I don't remember going off-topic on this thread though. And how do I contact the Moderation team?

I've been looking up information about King Sombra, the former unicorn tyrant ruler that ruled over the Crystal Empire since he took over in 1012 A.D (Princess Celestia said that he took over a thousand years ago and I'm looking as if the episode took place in 2012 A.D) and he was banished to the far north later on. In the comics which I do know aren't canon to the show actually has him in a good form that he later turned evil. I believe it was issues #18-20, but I don't remember. I don't own any of the IDW comics so I don't exactly know the plots very well. Even though in this show, Kings and Queens are considered evil and Princes and Princesses are good do you really think that King Sombra (in his good form) is suppose to be the actual ruler of Equestria as the King of Equestria and not the two ruling princesses, Celestia and Luna? I don't know. I don't actually believe he does, but I need more background information or opinions from other members.

My story.... Well here you go.

My sister mentioned one of her friends having a party based on the show. My sister being Rarity. I thought nothing of it. Then I walked in on her watching an episode. I watched a little bit. I told myself it was just stupid. But it started to grow on me. Telling myself it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. So one day I was on Youtube. Saw a pony video, got me to finally become a brony. You wouldn't believe the video..... Smile HD  :l.... I wish it wasn't that, but it still got me to watch the show. So I'll give it that at the very least.   :D

Jeez, the reason you became a brony was all because of a fan made video that has graphic violence in it? You couldn't have just watched the first episode and given it a chance?

I'll add my story.

It was 2013 and since idk chemotherapy, whille successful, had pretty much killed my enthusiasm for life, I didn't do much. Hence I had never heard of FiM.

Earlier that year I was on IRC hacking on a phone with other people. A friend mentioned he was a brony a few times, but that was it until mid summer. He said something implying that you can't mock something unless you know what. Even though I wasn't involved I somehow clicked on the YT link, then the next.

That's how i became 20% cooler. :D

When did you have chemotherapy, or don't you remember? What kind of cancer exactly caused you to lost enthusiasm for life? And how on Earth didn't you see or hear anything about FIM!? It premiered in October of 2010, almost 4 years ago! I mean, didn't you see a advertisement in a magazine or television about FIM or MLP G4 in general?

Dude, chill.

Just chill.

See, you're still taking things too seriously, together with your pessimism. Stop being so pessimistic! The internet may have done bad things, but it's done wonderful things as well! People make friends from across the world through the internet, or reconnect with friends that have gone across the world through it. People learn about this annoying thing called timezones through the internet. People have online businesses and make money they couldn't have made otherwise.

Why don't you take a step back and take a look at the good side of things, instead of disregarding them completely?

Let's not forget the democratization of information and the ability to amass movements in response to negative social change or events. Shall I invoke Vivian James in reference to the current Quinspiracy?

Time goes by and stuff dies. The industries that can not adapt or refuse to update die. Such is a fact of the free market. But Blockbuster and company was hardly a major employer or one employing valuable high-skill employees. So its worth in the grand scheme of shut downs in a market with growing emphasis on high-skill service jobs is pretty nill. You won't see me shed a tear over a brick and mortar whose services are fourth class compared to Netflix.

Well yeah. Marketing techniques do change over time. If they didn't, America would be behind the rest of the world, especially China and Japan. What you said about industries not updating will die is correct. Sears is going to face the fact that they can't do business the ways they did it 50 years ago because times have changed. And they will continue to change. Shopping on the internet 20 years from now will be very convenient then now. Because the stuff will be shipped directly to you in an half hour or less. People want new things and if America's industries aren't allowed to do that, then let's face it our country will go downhill. This is why we have things like smartphones, tablets, televisions, cars, etc. Because they are conveniences that help us humans. Sadly, technology can also cause stress levels to rise and it's going to be worse in the next decade. I honesty would go into any portal into Equestria so I don't have to deal with any of this needed technology. Equestrians know how to live without technology and how shameful is that for our world. I'd rather hang out with the Mane 6 anyway.

I got to ask: is it really all that hard to look at Twi's expression and then the background content? It's more related to the topic I feel than you believe.

There are things I am tempted to say about these last posts. But I'm keeping my mouth shut.

Why don't you ask then? I don't even get Twi's expression and the background! You make no sense at all and are like those members who want me to stop posting new topics that they deem worthless. This is what annoys me about this forum. It's way too strict. I bet you think I'm childish, don't you?

When you average a thread a day for overall menial subjects that can be wrapped up nicely into a General then it's pretty justified to not take anything you're putting out seriously. If you're new and all to the art of foruming then I can probably see your energy for wanting to post as many threads as possible. But let's be serious: roughly a thread or a thread and a half a day is a great way to discover the wrong way to get to a classification of posting whose name I would probably be banned for invoking.

And thread topics about lunch boxes and stuff like this with the implied intent of serious ownership doesn't spell well on your person. Yes, I get it. You're a brony, we're a brony. We're all Horse <Cuddlers> here but there's a fine line between that marks where being "that guy" is. We all can't be the Brony of Happiness.  It's not exactly socially comfortable, shall we say. I'd invoke the relevant terminology for this sort of lack of social graces and balancing, but I'm sure it would just end my current streak as fast as the aforementioned posting classification.

In all: slow down, use threads that are already there, stop taking things so seriously, and if you really got to make a thread and if you have topics you want to discuss that's a common theme for all possible threads you could make: make a General on that topic. Don't fill things up with a dozen lunchbox threads. It really doesn't look good on you and frankly clutters the board with one-to-none post threads.

This was the only topic I made that was about a lunchbox. But, I see what your saying. I put on way too many new threads without considering looking at past threads and just looking at what other members have put down and just learn from it that way. I also have been accused of wrong doings as well without looking at the forum rules. One member for instance on a topic I put down called "Do you remember Pikachu and his love for ketchup?" which is located under video games if you want to look at it did say not to make threads like this. I just don't see what the big deal is with creating new topics! I respect that over the last 2 years that some of the topics about Equestria's government and such have been already discussed and that newer topics should be like what's going to happen in Season 5 or beyond. I'm sorry for being so serious as well. I've been so concerned that the brony fandom will end and that MLP FIM won't last more then another year. Again, I'm sorry for being rude, disrespectful, ignorant toward other members, and not following the forum rules on here. I suppose I should lock some of threads I've created now. Only for the respect of this forum.

You've got a point, lots of it! Totally agree with ya Aaron.

I think you need a rest Bro1997, pace it down a little.  :]
The Internet does things to you.  :s

Well, the internet causes a lot of problems. It destroys relationships, has destroyed many companies like Montgomery Ward and Blockbuster, and has no good beyond the introducing of cyber school. This is why I wish I could go back in time to the 1960s or 70s because things were so much more simpler. Even though MLP didn't exist until 1983. At least I could've been a fan from the beginning, but sadly I wasn't. And do you really want me to quit this forum? Because I think you and Aaron want me to. Not that Night Pony and other members other then Cloudwilk hate me as well. If my account is terminated, then fine. So be it.

"I've been so concerned that the brony fandom will end and that MLP FIM won't last more then another year."

Brony fandom...ending? Ha...thats not going to happen anytime soon...

Oh, believe me. Time flies quicker then a jackrabbit. Before you know it, 5 years will past and the bronies will dwindle down to a mere maybe 1,000. Because by the end of 2019, G4 will be dead and MLP FIM would be cancelled long before that, in 2015. The bronies will move to a new fandom because they are tired for some reason of being part of a fandom for a long time. I don't get people. They'll switch because they think people will believe bad thoughts because the fandom is OLD. Especially if your still one 10 years from now. Everything that bronies have created will be gone in the next 10 years. Believe me on that one. Just the fact that Season 5 will premiere in 2015 is a obvious indication that MLP FIM is in the process of being cancelled. Because the people at Hasbro are too dumb to keep it going to at least 2020. Shame on Hasbro for feeling that way.

Don't give me wrong. I know of the benefits of the internet as I've said about cyber school. And what's bad about being pessimistic? Things aren't always going to go in the direction you want them to. I still believe however that MLP FIM can't survive more then 5 seasons. It just isn't going to happen. Hasbro is more concerned about their sales on Equestria Girls then MLP itself and Equestria Academy which will premiere in France sometime next year is certain to eventually replace MLP FIM. If not, it'll probably be LPS itself because the ratings aren't that great. I really do doubt that FIM will last to 2019 or longer. I don't see timezones as annoying and online businesses are very successful. However, keep in mind that the internet has created problems for many companies. Take Sears for instance. Because they keep doing the same marketing techniques they did in the 60s, they won't survive much longer. The same goes for Kmart. Many mom and pop stores are closing because of companies like Amazon and Netflix replacing these services. Heck, I'm not sure how long Wal-Mart and Target will be able to keep their physical stores open until the day they close them all and move all sales online. This is the reason also for Blockbuster going defunct. Because of similar problems like Kmart and Sears. I stress over a lot of things so this might be a reason for me being so pessimistic so I'm sorry about that.

I tend to prefer Sonic blasts because 1. It comes with whipped cream 2. The ice cream is vanilla rather than plain white and 3. The ice cream doesn't stick 3 inches above the cup when you get it, so you can actually drive home with it without it melting all over the car.

That said, the blasts are quite expensive. A small costs 4 dollars (tax included), so I'd expect it to be pretty high quality for that price. One time I actually get one that looked like they didn't mix it at all. It had like an inch of solid Oreo on top of a 5 inches of pure ice cream.

I would have complained if I had noticed it before getting home.

Sonic makes better ice cream then Dairy Queen. Although, they both are pretty good. Yum!

I'm a bit late to jump on the bandwagon, but I feel that it entirely depends on the whereabouts that you live, and the people you know. Out of all the people I know, a huge majority of those really do not care that I like MLP at all: sure, that's definitely not the case for everyone, but I firmly believe that humanity is slowly (but surely) moving on to the "each to their own" mindset. Obviously, I do get a few... comments... about it now and again, but I would guess that's down to the nature of those individuals.

Of course, there are 7 billion+ people on the world, and it will take time for all of them to change their opinions and become more openminded, but hopefully it won't be in 1000s of years from now, as Bro1997 has said. I'll estimate a couple decades (and well after the demise of MLP :c) before humanity will move on from these stereotypes.

I really don't think that all of the 7 billion people on Earth will change their opinions on things. Do you really think that people in places like China, Iran, or North Korea even believe in changes? North Koreans probably don't even have a clue what MLP is! Honestly, I agree with you. I depends on where you live. When your at work or school, it's just best to leave things like MLP at home and not bring it up unless your friends with other bronies there. People are mean and you'll only get yourself into lots of trouble and probably lose your job as well. I think that it'll take more then a couple decades however. A decade is actually 10 years and something like this won't end for centuries which one is 100 years. To me, it'll probably end around 2114 to 2150. Which is long after the majority of bronies are dead and Hasbro is in the history books of toy marketing. By that time, MLP will be like homemade dolls like in colonial times. Loved and remembered but not something children in 100 years would play with. Believe me, by 2114 MLP merchandise will be like $10,000 to $100,000 depending on how rare they are. My belief though is that MLP itself will end around roughly 2050 to 2083 depending on sales. Similar to Pokémon I guess. I really hope that both MLP and Pokémon will be around for years to come though. I LOVE both of them.

Call my cynical, but thats definitely not going to happen in a few decades. Some of the younger generations in the more populated areas of the western world, maybe. Anywhere outside there, well don't expect it in out lifetime. I don't know if you have ever been outside the western world and actually conversed with people there for an extended period of time (or had online friend from eastern Europe or something) but they aren't as free thinking.

I know quite a few people from eastern europe, and I have to agree with you on that point. In a few decades however, many many things have changed in the past. Compare the 1960s with now, for example. Or the 1900s with the 1950s.

Not much though. We still use gas powered vehicles, televisions are still used, we still have actual FOOD and not full dinner gums like in Willy Wonka, and schools still exist as well. Sure, technology has improved and Communism and Fascism is dead but that still doesn't change the world's viewpoint on some things. Most governments in Asia are still dictatorships and countries like North Korea ban their people from even accessing the world wide web. They use a special web service that's used mostly in Pyongyang only. Similar governments also exist in the middle east and Africa. If they heard of the brony fandom, I'm certain they would be disgusted by it. I don't think that countries like China and India will accept bronies because of their cultures and beliefs. The same goes for most people in America. They don't believe that men liking ponies is right and is socially unacceptable. Sure, the younger generations might accept it a little more because of more bullying prevention programs but the older generations that grew up in the 1920s to as late as the 1990s won't believe the same things. To me, it won't change until 2114 and that's final!

If that's the case then it would be the same as the old and new Powerpuff girls.

Is that a bad thing? Still is a different design! However, I think that 3D is going to be used for G5 and beyond. At least for future cartoon shows after FIM and EQG is cancelled. I don't think that the bbbf design will be used. Can't imagine how it could be.

So be it.

Hey guys, just a friendly reminder, make sure you don't bring up any topics that are against the rules in your posts.  Thanks :)

Not being rude, but what topics are we bringing up? Is bullying something bad to talk about?

I've been trying to dodge the gender-thing rule~ And religion, politic thing....

I could explain that but I don't want to. I feel now that the traction has shifted to directly what it is and with today's ever so wide culture so people don't hide it, this fandom will leave an impact on reforming our opinions about what people can and can't get into. I don't think it will be revolutionary exactly, but I do think this will leave an impact that will better the world. ^^

Well, I hope. Still believe it won't be until at least 2114 (100 years after 2014) or even longer like 2150 or somewhere around that time that the idea of ponies being socially acceptable only at little girls will come to an end. Who knows, it might not be until 3014 (1000 years after 2014) that this whole trend will end. People need to lighten up and accept people's differences. Accept the personality of people and the careers they do and not what they enjoy. Unless it is deemed illegal. Some members like Midnight Breeze explained that this trend won't end in our lifetime so that's where I'm getting the 100 years from.

I got to ask: is it really all that hard to look at Twi's expression and then the background content? It's more related to the topic I feel than you believe.

There are things I am tempted to say about these last posts. But I'm keeping my mouth shut.

The result of the lack of technology in Equestria. Boredom. Princess Celestia is the reason for banning television and internet in Equestria. It's a police state now! Everyone knows that television exists in Equestria, but Celestia bans things that will impact relationships with other ponies. This is why many bronies don't want to live in Equestria, because of no internet!

> Wanting that lunchbox.

Pic related.

Does that mean you want the lunchbox? Or saying that I'm crazy for putting up a topic about this? Because the picture doesn't seem to go with your description. You are sarcastic, aren't you?

Mean people, insecure people, and bullies will always try to find a way to criticize others. Throughout the ages, violence and cruelty have been lauded by such people s a sign of strength, while kindness, innocence, and love have been regarded as weak. (Most likely such people who criticize these things have an underlying jealousy, as their minds are filled with anger and sadness, and they continue to feed those though their pursuits.)

It's not just "ponies are for girls". It is the mentality of humanity as a whole. Ponies are sweet and kind, and encourage such behavior. Sadly, there will always be people who, for some sad, inexplicable reason, seem to hate the sweet and lovable, and perhaps even secretly fear it, for it reminds them of how unkind they are and how bleak the world they have made for themselves is.

But on the bright side, bronies seem to really be spreading. Apparently a lot of people are getting tired of the bleak, the cruel, and the violent, and are just unafraid to admit that they want a little happiness, sweetness, and love in their lives.

There seems to have been a lot of violence in the world over the last hundred years especially. I think over the last thousand years men were intended to be considered strong and powerful while women were weak and worthless. Most empires and nations up to the 1920s didn't think women were worthy of society and never were allowed into wars and other manly jobs. Just as men were not allowed or discouraged from doing women jobs like cooking and cleaning.  All I can say is that bullying will never end because that's the nature of our world. It's not different with religion, culture, race, and other beliefs. People don't understand the idea of being sweet and kind which is what we are supposed to be. We shouldn't treat anyone with disrespect and should tolerate everything just as the ponies do. The world wasn't built like the pony world. There's no magic, no tolerance, and hatred seems to be everywhere. All I can say is to just be yourself and try not to think suicidal thoughts, as some young bronies have.

I really hope this goes away. I feel it's possible the more people mix with things that are socially deemed unacceptable BUT are harmless in every way. The social standards not set up by logic and/or backed by fact do not really need a place here. (Emotional considerations and all, of course. For humans are an emotional specie and it is logical to recognize where pain and happiness collide/separate. With the progressing of the race, I should hope we establish what logically should make us sad and what shouldn't.)

In regards to the comment defending bully's innocence (or at least trying to get people to back away from being harsh) I do not feel the same way. Some kids are bully's, not because they were abused as a child, but just because of raising or it just makes them feel tough. Nothing has to happen for them to ruin another kid's life. Granted, there are times when that is the case, and it is when they are no longer the bully but the victim do I feel sorry. But in every case the bully is the, well, bully, I feel to regret for the punishment they should take. Honestly, they barely get enough. The worst thing that works against them is people's reaction later in life to how asinine picking on people is. Well... I guess it depends on how bad the circumstance. They're are certain cases where the bully and the victim are truly not as clear as it would seem. Of course, in those cases, perhaps better terms would suit the situation.

I'm not sure that'll happen, Cloudwilk. It's been 140 years since this trend started with 1877's Black Beauty the first "pony book" which was actually about a horse. I just don't get why we should care if people make fun of us if we like ponies? Will it end up on Facebook or something?

So, I found this really cute lunchbox somewhere and it is a MLP Dual Compartment Lunchbox made by Accessory Innovations Inc. It is not in any way the tin lunchboxes that some bronies collect since there are trading cards and other goods in there. It's very soft on the outside and has two compartment for your food. I'm not sure if anypony has this as part of their MLP collection since they don't want to carry around a lunchbox with MLP characters on it, But I just wanted to know. Here's a image to it.

Spoiler: show
The show sometimes doesn't make any sense at all. They put elements we use to describe equines and show inventions we made for equines like Bridles and Saddles. Twilight sure only knows things in a equine perspective. You really think that ponies in Equestria really use that phase and can tell a pony's age by their teeth and how mature they are? Imagine what Celestia and Luna's look like. They've been around a thousand years! By the way, what scenes from the show actually show the ponies wearing Bridles and not the mannequins? I've seen maybe one scene from a episode of a pony wearing a saddle, but not a Bridle. Maybe they'll show it in Season 5? I hope not. These things didn't even exist in MLP cartoons until FIM! G3 did something right for once, excluding "Rainbow Dash always dresses in style". G3 Rainbow Dash was G4 Rarity and even said words like "Darling". You can tell how much Rarity and Rainbow Dash have changed. G3 Rarity was just a filly.

I imagine that saddles and bridles don't have the same origin and meaning in their world as they do in ours.
Though, I like to imagine that Twilight wearing a saddle when Spike rides on her back would make it more comfortable for both her and Spike. lol As I said before, riding a horse bareback can hurt, and someone else pointed out that a saddle makes it more comfortable for the horse too, not just the rider.

Also, no, I don't think that the ponies in Equestria tell each other's age by their teeth and whatnot. But Twilight Sparkle did use that phrase. When I said "What is its etymology in your world, I wonder?" I was basically saying "I wonder what that phrase's origin is in their world because surely they never bought each other and priced each other according to age."

By the way, Celestia and Luna's teeth wouldn't be huge.
Yes, a horse's teeth keep growing, but they also keep getting ground down. You tell a horse's age by what the tops of their teeth look like, not by the size of their teeth. It's almost like when you cut down a tree and can count the rings on the stump to tell how old it was.

I saw scenes in which Spike was actually riding Twilight bareback. She doesn't seem to mind somehow. I'm not exactly sure where the origins for bridles and saddles are in their world. I'd like to imagine that they probably originated the same way odd fashions did. Like high heels or corsets. I didn't think that you could tell a pony's age from it's teeth in Equestria. Because Equestrian ponies are different from our ponies. I've also seen real life ponies wearing bridles even when not being ridden. I just don't get the lifestyle for ponies in Equestria. It also doesn't make any sense why Rarity would have mannequins of ponies wearing this odd style of clothing that I don't see ponies out in Ponyville wearing. I mean, what's the point of wearing clothes if your a pony. Most ponies in the show only wear clothes because when something special that deals with royalty comes around, I'm certain Celestia appreciates those who wear fancy clothing. It just doesn't make any sense. I mean, is Celestia going to sentence you to execution because your not wearing clothing? If your not clothed most of the time, don't you think that wearing clothing would be uncomfortable. I wouldn't bother with clothing if I lived in Equestria. At least the ponies in Equestria don't eat meat (I've heard about carrot dogs in Manehatten and saw a Hay Burger restaurant) because obviously since they are herbivores in real life, the ponies in both worlds would probably die since meat is toxic to a equine's digestive system. And that's no exception to anypony, even Alicorns would die.
