Hey again, everypony!
Our Open Access Release is well underway, and we're getting a lot of great feedback from all of you - feedback that we're working hard to implement into the game. We can't do all that work alone, though; that's why
the Legends of Equestria team is hiring! If you're interested in game development, passionate about ponies, or simply need a hobby that will put your talents to use, we'd like to hear from you! We have a pretty extensive list of teams with different roles and skills, so even if you're not super-technical but still want to help us out, there might be something for you here!
We are currently accepting applications for the following departments:
Level Designers, VFX Artists, Systems Designers, Programmers, 3D Modellers, 2D Artists, and
Moderators [last updated November 23rd, 2017]. All applicants must be at least 16 years of age, unless specified otherwise by the team's hiring message.
If you're interested, please find below a little bit of info from each team's leader on what they're looking for, and how to contact them! Good luck, and we hope to see you on the team soon!
(Note: if for any reason you don't hear back from the team you've applied to within a week, please contact
so we can work out what's gone wrong!)
Design
>Level DesignersLevel designers should have drawn work (hand or digital) of macro or micro scale level designs which factor in standard gaming conventions such as pathing, points of interest, mob spawns, elevation, framing, terrain features, quest potential, etc. Previous experience in a 3D engine (Unity, Unreal) is highly sought after. Map/level designers should expect to be trained in Unity to allow the implementation and editing of their designs. Please email
with examples of your work.
>VFX ArtistsVFX artists will primarily be in charge of creating and implementing spritesheet animations to be used for various player abilities and ambient world effects. This role will require a blending of traditional toon styled art creation and design with technical implementation in Unity (Shuriken knowledge is a HUGE plus!). If you enjoy creating particle based effects to add an extra kick of visual stimulation, this position is for you! Please email
with links to examples of your work.
>Systems DesignersSystems designers should have the ability to form clear, concise, to-the-point written work which quickly and efficiently describes a complex system to programmers, writers, or other relevant team members. Applicants should be able to design the technical formulation behind conventional experience, leveling, crafting, and ability systems. knowledge of excel for tables, graphs, and formulas is a huge plus. Please email
with links to examples of your work.
Programming
We're currently looking for enthusiastic programmers to help build LoE. A minimum of basic experience programming in C# and Unity is required for any applications to be considered, and you should also provide samples of your previous work so we can see just how awesome you are. We aren't expecting you to be a professional developer (though we won't say no if you are!); so long as you can demonstrate your knowledge and willingness to learn, we want to hear from you! An obsession with tiny colourful horses is not required, but will be taken into consideration and may improve your chances. Due to the nature of the team, we're looking for reliable people that can be trusted to work semi-independently; if you think you can help us out, email
!
3D Modeling
To apply for the 3D team, please email
with links to examples of your skills. Any additional unrelated, high quality designs you have done helps too. Applicants must have working knowledge of 3D modeling and/or animating and be willing to learn, design critically, and give and take critique. It is preferred that applicants have a specialty in organic modeling, 3D animation and rigging, terraforming, or any combination thereof. Please include how much time you are able to devote to Legends of Equestria, as well as a list of programs that you use.

All we can guarantee is the warm fuzzy feeling from helping to bring an entire world of horses to life.
And
lots of socks.
It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOO sad how I can't help, saying that I'm not too qualified. But, I know that people need help in tough times. You're all doing great! x3 Keep up the great work! I'll always be a player!
I'd love to, but sadly I cannot apply. Whoever is applying, great! Have fun and enhance the game even more! ^-^
Just out of curiosity, let's say I wanted to apply for the December limited release to play and test the game, but at the same time, I was interested in one of these positions. Would it be too conflicting to do both things, or would it be just fine? My guess is that it's fine, but I just want to be sure.
I applied for programming 2 months ago ... it went unanswered, but apparently you don't need programmers any more anyway, since they are not in the above list.
Oh well. I hope I can at least get into the early access. I enjoy looking for bugs in things!
I will try to apply for Human Resources :)
Ahh! I want to apply for voice acting! :3 I've been told I'd be really good at it but I don't have any experience other than goofing around... X3 What kinds of things do you want in the application? Is it okay if I don't have a high-quality mic? (I have a decent one, just not a top-of-the-line one.)
I've always wanted to be a voice actor honestly...
But I don't really have a lot of range with my voice unfortunately...
What kind of voices do you need specifically? I need more details here... X3
I'm with the other 2 comments above. I'd like to try my hand at applying for VA, but i'm not really sure how much I should include for my application ^^; i've had quite a bit of experience, but most of the projects i've volunteered for/been asked to join aren't released yet. I do have a wide vocal range, but i have a question about the acting portion: are there sample lines i should read off? Or can i pick anything?
Saw voice acting and my reaction was 'oooo'. So maaaaaybe.
I don't think I'd do fairly well in any other department, so maybe next time. The second closet thing I'd be to is 3d, but I haven't really made any custom models myself, just ported and rigged some from existing games when needed.
Hello everyone, my apologies for not responding sooner. I am going to address these to the best of my ability.

If you want to apply to both the team and for the LAR, you are more than welcome to. There should not be any reason why that would be an issue.

To answer the first, it is kept vague for a reason. We want to have a variety of backgrounds, with differing voice experiences, to find who we want from there.
To answer the second, so long as it is clear enough to hear, and is pleasant sounding to the ear, I would not think that there would be any issue.

There are no specifics about what is or is not accepted with Voice Acting. We simply want to see a variety of talents, to determine who would be the best choice.

Like my other replies, there are no specifics regarding what voice to do, nor what lines to read. The Voice Acting Department is simply looking for variety, so they can determine the best fit. The more the merrier, better overkill than underkill, I say.
Well, in that case, maybe I'll apply for voice acting too.
Not that I have much experience with it (or, for that matter, any at all) - but I'd be happy to expand your voice pool. Sounds like you can never get too many applications.
Post Merge
Oh, just read you are looking for female voices.
My plan was a good plan while it lasted.
Which was a couple seconds :P
It's funny, I'm in the Game Development program at my college, third/final year, so I have skills that could be put to good use helping with this project.
However, because of said program, I have no time! We have to make a game as a group in just a few months!
Best of luck to potential applicants, and can't wait to see how far this has come since the last open server test I was a part of. I could definitely see the potential this game has!

Woohoo! :D I'll go ahead and apply then. :3
The first post says 'female' characters though.
I... don't think I can do female voices. Like... at all.
Do you need voice actors for male characters to or no? Because if not it may be a waste for me to attempt to apply for a voice actor...
:(

"Voice Acting" - O: :D
"Female Voices" - :I DD: D:
(I am a guy.)
Sooooo..... Any chance you need male voices any time soon? Cause I'd love to apply, but if you only want female voices, that won't happen. :s
I'm not about all that stuff, I'm more of a writer. ^-^
Greeting Everypony, please read until the end, but only if you want to >A<
I would just like say somethings about this wonderful game created by talented and creative ponies, whose hearts are filled with love and determination, and for that I thank everypony for making this game possible.
First of I am an Earth pony, I would like to ask if we have any special capabilities and advantages in the game.
As an Earth pony we work hard not just or ourselves but for all of Equestria, we plant and farm many different fruits and vegetables for all to eat.
If in the game you can be thirsty and hungry, this can make farming a necessity that we Earth ponies can truly contribute to the game, Pegasus can water the plants by making it rain, and Unicorns can speed up the growth of our crops.
If this is implemented there will be a sense of Team Work, Cooperation, and Friendship in all of Equestria.
This will give rise to Economy, Commerce, Trade, Jobs, and a sense of Purpose and Duty.
Also Don't we turn our backs against Social norms, Discrimination, and petty Stereotypes?
So Please don't turn this game bursting with potential into something like most MMORPG do.
The Leveling system is flawed, If you see a pony that is level 80 won't it turn you down especially if they boast about it.
The Skill System is more beneficial for all, Firstly there is diversity and a wide set of skills you must work hard on like farming, brewing, baking, cooking, crafting, building, enchanting, combat, taming and more. there could even be modifiers such as strength, Intelligence, and agility. with this system everypony can only be a master of just a few skills or maybe an applejack :l of all trades making each and every pony unique and special in their own way.
This also makes it possible to contribute and even enjoy the game without hurting or eliminating any creatures which should not be promoted, aren't we a kind and benevolent race? why would we hurt other creatures if they are not doing anything to us, please don't do what other MMORPG's do teaching Violence, Murder, Betrayal, and Evil.
My Little Pony teaches TeamWork, Harmony, and Love.
Especially Honesty :] Kindness >.< Laughter :D Generosity ;) Loyalty :D and Magic ^-^
And so I thank everypony that made this game possible and I wish everypony the best of luck, May all our dreams come true and may everyone have a wonderful life.
This is a massive project especially the potential it has as new type of MMORPG all about cooperating and helping each other, There will be no "Every pony for themselves"
So please let us help you, I am sure the whole community is willing to offer our hooves especially if this game will surpass all expectations and odds, we believe in you, this can be greater than anypony has ever imagined.
Together there is nothing we can't do. "Team Work Makes The Dream Work" ^-^
Sorry if I sound like I am complaining or anything, please forgive me ono
Anyways thanks for reading, You are a nice and awesome pony.
May Faust watch over us and may we meet her in the Elysian Fields
P.S you can also hire musician ponies to make music that gives life and the perfect mood on an area depending on the type of day, atmosphere, and even events making the game a bit more lively, yes events are also good to bring ponies together, as I said a game of great potential and we are willing to help in any way we can, we don't need to hurt anypony to be somepony
I'm going to apply for the Script Implementation soon! Been waiting for a few years now, can't wait! >.<
Any specification for what program to use / is preferred for the 2D art? For instance, I tend to use GIMP (since it's free and open source), but is, say, Photoshop or some other program more preferable?
Same for 3D modelling. In the animation section you specify you want Maya experience, but not in the 3D modelling section. I was learning Blender a while back, is that suitable? Or is Maya absolutely required?
Thanks in advance if there is ever a reply =P

Hey Sigma!
I will update you on 2D in due time, but I wanted to go ahead and address the 3D elements:
So long as your program uses fbx and obj files, then you can use it for 3D Modeling. However, it is preferred that you utilize Blender or Maya, as you can get assistance from the TLs if need-be.
For animation, however, Maya is absolutely required, because all programs have a different style of rigging, and making Maya the standard helps streamline the process.
As I said before, I will address 2D soon, but I wanted to go ahead and mention this part.
If you have any further questions, comments, and/or concerns, simply message me, or email
.
Have a blessed week!

Actually. Not everything needs to be vectored. We've had texture artists who don't have vectoring skills, but vectoring can help in case something need to be changed because then you don't need to re-draw it. 99.9% of the cases that won't happen though.
It is always recommended to know how to display your own texture on the finished model like in Photoshop Extended, but if you apply and do get in I can teach you how to do that. It won't take more than 30-50 minutes to learn.

I don't think I should bother applying yet since i'm so new to art, and the only thing I can do decently are characters.
A separate recruitment post for the Legends of Equestria Moderation Team has been made, and will remain open until 11/21/2016 11:59PM EST.

Applications are now closed. Thank you to all who applied.
Wondering about the VA positioning here!
I am quite curious here! Is it just random pony voices you are aiming for or are you aiming for the main cast as well, unless that is already been casted and taken care of. I only ask about the main characters for the fact I am personally one for Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, though I am quite happy to try and other or random ones needed for story to progress!
Thank you very much!

While I am not on the voice acting team I can say for certain that LoE does not have any canon characters, such as the Mane 6 for example. I suggest perhaps sending an email to the team through the address in the recruiting post if you would like more information about the position :)
My wife and I could possibly lend a hand in the VA department.

Well if they tell us the specific week (which they probably haven't established anyway), then we'll want to know what day it is. If they tell us the day, we'll want to know the hour ... and so on. You can always get more specific (until you reach the Planck time, but that's besides the point).
So, by that logic, it really doesn't matter how specifically they tell us when the release will happen - as long as it is something. ;)
Sent in an application Re: Scripting :D
Would love to help out, super keen.
I just sent in my voice actress application!
You probably need to have 18 years old... Or maybe older ^^?
If I recall right, you have to be at least sixteen years of age for all teams bar Human Resources and Moderation, where you must be at least eighteen years of age.
Quote from: Annithegamer234 on 2017 Jan 20, 07:13:45

The listed departments state a minimum of 16 years of age on the first post of the thread. Any additional information or requirements based on each individual department will be dictated on the first post.
There are departmental exceptions, such as moderation, which requires applicants to be a minimum of 18. Such information would be posted under that team's recruiting post if/when said team is hiring.
Hmm, so who do I go to for a bit of further information?
I'm interested in the Systems Designers as I absolutely adore this kind of thing, but never having a position in it because people only want "Experienced" designers has led me to never have worked with it on a team.
The classic "Can't get hired because you need work history" lament. lol
Anyways, what would the requirements be?
I'm genuinely interested in this position as I have a lot of fun with it and friends have commented on me having good ideas from time to time, nothing to brag about but I'd love to give it a shot.
I have a flexible mind and understanding of the limitations of code(I can't code though) and such so I won't be coming up with stupid ideas.
I suggest sending an email to the recruiter if you need more information.
I can play ? ^^ (PS : I'm french ^^")
I want it too :P
The only thing I'd be good at is the "other works" in 2d art. I'm pretty good at character design. I could design places too. But just sketches really. Designing is what I'm good at, but putting it to work... not so much.
are concept artist positions still available? i see y'all need some more 2d artist and was just wondering if that included concept artist?
Hi everyone, i know you're looking for female voice and i'm a guy, a french guy x)
I can talk in english and maybe an accent would be great for somes characters.
Idk if you have planned to make translations for the game but if you want someone for this, i can do it and be a voice actor in french too. It's just a suggestion, reply to me if you want me to do something.
Hello,
I would like to join as a programmer. I have professional experience in C#, but none of my open source work uses C#. My Github is https://github.com/Funmungus, and one current project is https://github.com/Funmungus/scriptor. I am just about to finally release a C library that I have been working on for years(look forward to it this month) and then I will have time to devote to LoE.
I cannot recruit, but luck and wishes to all that have!
Oh wow, I might try voice acting even if my voice isn't that great in my opinion but it's worth a shot anyway x3
I'll try to record some stuff as soon as I can... Anyway I wish the best of luck to everyone ^-^
Hmm... I don't know if this will ever be a thing, but are you going to ever do translations for LoE (I know someone else mentioned this as well)?
I know MLP is kind of a big thing in Germany, and while I am not a native speaker, I have lived there for 4 years, and I know a lot more about connotation and cultural nuances that might escape those who only studied the language itself.
I am already a LAR tester, and I am currently in college, but something like this is a task that would be a lot easier to help out with than some of the other jobs.
I just sent another application for programming. I really hope I am accepted ^-^
Side note on the translation, I could probably do Japanese.
Im a brony musician and have a few original song compositions along with pony music videos I can donate if it would be of use. These are traditional songs done with instruments, and not electronically made. Check them out if you're interested.

Hmm... I don't know if this will ever be a thing, but are you going to ever do translations for LoE (I know someone else mentioned this as well)?
We don't currently plan to translate the game into other languages. We're still writing an awful lot of it, and everything is subject to change, so it wouldn't really make sense to get people to start converting what we have implemented into another language, only to tell them later on that we need them to re-do a lot of it or do a whole bunch more.
That might change once the game is out, and we have the base game locked down; at that point, when we have a known quantity to translate, it might be feasible. We'd have to weigh the benefit of doing it against the effort it takes, though; we'd have to get multiple trustworthy people who are proficient in dozens of languages to make sure it's all accurate and that we cover all the requested languages, and that might all be effort we can better direct elsewhere. That's not to say it won't happen; like I said, it's something we can definitely look at once we've actually got a locked-down list of what words are gonna be in this thing!
;) I can work with some 2D artwork, maybe do some structural designs :3
To be honest I never helped with a game before so, this is new.
[FOR VOICE ACTING]
Hi, I am a male, and i know it said only female voices, but I have a pretty low voice and was wondering if i could help in anyway possible? Is it worth applying? I have never done anything like it, except make videos on youtube. I can also sing, but again a low voice, but a decent falsetto? Do you need a singer? Soz about Username, its a little misleading but was for whenever the game comes out =) cant wait =)
I would like to help, but I can not do any of that. :c
Maybe if someday the voice translations can help you with Spanish, I hope you get a lot of help! :D
looks like I should apply for the 2D art team so I can be productive for once!
weeee!
I can do voice acting but I don't have any experience with it i'm just a huge goofball though lol
I would love to become a 2D animator :D ! But unfortunately I'm 14 and I don't know these skills.. >.<

Sounds like a reason (and subject) to study!

If she would she would have to study 3D animation rather than 2D since the game is build in 3D ;)

I get recruited alot on scratch as a sprite animator/designer, and I've helped many people with creating original cutie marks for their ocs using vector. I've never tried applying for something like this before how long should I expect to wait for a response now that I sent a link to my portfolio?
Are there still positions for 3d modelers? I would like to help if there's still a position.
I'm good at polygon model and mechanical models. Also I know a lil bit about rigging and animating.
here're some samples:

I'm just a musician ;u;' Do you need anything of the sort?
Also, I'm a programmer, though I really don't have experience with C# or any other Object Oriented Lenguage
Level designers should have drawn work (hand or digital) of macro or micro scale level designs which factor in standard gaming conventions such as pathing, points of interest, mob spawns, elevation, framing, terrain features, quest potential, etc. Previous experience in a 3D engine (Unity, Unreal) is highly sought after. Map/level designers should expect to be trained in Unity to allow the implementation and editing of their designs. Please email
with examples of your work.
must i have been working on Unity or UE? (around 10 years ago i once used
hero engine to submit a zone to a game devs that went bankrupt few month later)
i have been making zones/maps with their own world making softwares for other games like:
Neverwinter (no idea where)
Skyrim (Asura https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25566/? [NSFW - they were supposed to be wearing a clothing that a player has created, but it got bugged instead..]
I still have the files for it, but the pictures i uploaded are only to v0.23, im at v0.63 and i expanded the area for miles now :)
sadly i never uploaded the pictures of the other 95% of the areas. :(
Fallout (1-3 zones/area, no idea where)
Oblivion (no idea where)
Age of Empires, (no idea where)
Age of Mythology, (made a couple of RPG maps, no idea where)
Company of Heroes (made 3-5 maps, should still exist somewhere :/ )
Other games (but i dont remember them, was so many years ago :( )
sadly i also lost most of my stuff due to the age of the games and i also lost many of my things from my dead HDD :(
I just sent you an email! I'd like to apply to be a programer. I am aware you require examples of my work, however, and right now I don't have anything Unity-related to show you, but I've included a link to my Github profile where you can see how I code. I got plenty of coding experience, just not in Unity. :(
Either way, once I have more relevant experience I'll try applying again. :)
Well, I might be french, but i can give some help as a 2D artist.
Here is what my work look : https://dormin-kanna.deviantart.com/

When we are looking for more members for the moderation team, we will make a post separate from the main recruiting thread (At which point i'll likely link it in here), so for now the answer is no, but keep an eye on the forums for when we do.
Thanks for your consideration =3
Is there another email I can send my portfolio to? Vector isn't responding =/
man I really want to volunteer but I'm not old enough
Ahh this might be late. Good luck y'all :3
when will a moderator position be available?
:D :D
Man if i knew that if this game needs help in new playable races i would gladly help i'll try to make the enviromrnt and house but also draconequus but for body parts probaly just basic animal parts of known animals head and ears would be like discord but I don't know maby someday
does having a deviant art account count as a portfolio because i really like to help i could try todo new npc of different races like zebras or draconequus or changeling both reformed and evil ones i just like to help out or just give examples to hold on to if someday the want to put new races in

From the last Legends of Equestria Panel at Nightmare Nights Dallas, that was a question asked from a fellow player as well. In response, Rattletrap made it clear that there won't be any other playable races other than ponies. And I'd know that cause I was there.
It would be a cool idea to have other races to be available to play, but the complexity of it would be too much and could cause issues. I'm not entirely sure on all the specific details Rattle said, other than just that only the Pony race would be the only race to play.
I Look Forward to this application! :D.
why are you crying?
I just applied. I hope it isn't too late!
Good luck for everypony who has applied as well!
wow cool i'll try to upply

Hey again, everypony!
Our Open Access Release is well underway, and we're getting a lot of great feedback from all of you - feedback that we're working hard to implement into the game. We can't do all that work alone, though; that's why the Legends of Equestria team is hiring!
If you're interested in game development, passionate about ponies, or simply need a hobby that will put your talents to use, we'd like to hear from you! We have a pretty extensive list of teams with different roles and skills, so even if you're not super-technical but still want to help us out, there might be something for you here!
We are currently accepting applications for the following departments: Level Designers, VFX Artists, Systems Designers, Programmers, 3D Modellers, 2D Artists, and Moderators [last updated November 23rd, 2017]. All applicants must be at least 16 years of age, unless specified otherwise by the team's hiring message.
If you're interested, please find below a little bit of info from each team's leader on what they're looking for, and how to contact them! Good luck, and we hope to see you on the team soon!
(Note: if for any reason you don't hear back from the team you've applied to within a week, please contact so we can work out what's gone wrong!)

>Level Designers
Level designers should have drawn work (hand or digital) of macro or micro scale level designs which factor in standard gaming conventions such as pathing, points of interest, mob spawns, elevation, framing, terrain features, quest potential, etc. Previous experience in a 3D engine (Unity, Unreal) is highly sought after. Map/level designers should expect to be trained in Unity to allow the implementation and editing of their designs. Please email with examples of your work.
>VFX Artists
VFX artists will primarily be in charge of creating and implementing spritesheet animations to be used for various player abilities and ambient world effects. This role will require a blending of traditional toon styled art creation and design with technical implementation in Unity (Shuriken knowledge is a HUGE plus!). If you enjoy creating particle based effects to add an extra kick of visual stimulation, this position is for you! Please email with links to examples of your work.
>Systems Designers
Systems designers should have the ability to form clear, concise, to-the-point written work which quickly and efficiently describes a complex system to programmers, writers, or other relevant team members. Applicants should be able to design the technical formulation behind conventional experience, leveling, crafting, and ability systems. knowledge of excel for tables, graphs, and formulas is a huge plus. Please email with links to examples of your work.
Due to the nature of the team, we're looking for reliable people that can be trusted to work semi-independently; if you think you can help us out, email !
3D Modeling
To apply for the 3D team, please email with links to examples of your skills.
