Gameplay questions and bug report

First of all I want to make sure you know that what I'm saying isn't a complaint. I love the game and having quite a bit fun with it but there are certain things that I feel need work. So I'm looking at this from a game designer point of view and I have a Bachelor's in Game Art and Design as well.
 
First of all my question is, how does guidance work from the pet tree on an earth pony? Every time I do it my character does a buck and then my pet just stops attacking. I don't notice any beneficial effect when I do it.

Now for the bugs, during the course of the week I have been playing the game I've noticed the following:

First: I'm sure you are working on this but we need more Icons for skills, there are like almost 12-15 skills that use the same Icon in the hot bar and this makes very hard to use them in combat as well as makes the combat not very fun, and clumsy at best. I understand that originally there wasn't going to be any combat but it is in the game now so let's try to make it fun and smooth.
 
Second, Pet interface and AI:
While playing my earth pony I have been noticing some bugs with the pet AI and interface. The pet bar randomly disappears and won't re-appear when the pet gets close enough, the only way to fix this is for me to unsummon then re-summon it.

Also When I put my pet to assist it starts to just randomly attack any mob in range instead of assisting the pony, (though I'm thinking it might have been fixed but not sure couldn't test it much this morning). When you set the pet to aggressive it then acts like it should be on Assist, (Again this might have been fixed like above). Last when I tell my pet to attack it doesn't attack the target I have, instead it attacks a random mob in range.

Now for some suggestions:

First you should add a basic Attack that can be set to auto that does a little damage but doesn't use any energy. Because let's face it a pony/horse can still buck without any training. Granted the two skills you give automatically isn't bad just makes combat clumsy because they use the same Icons in the hot bar. Also you already have the animation for a basic attack already in the game because guidance in the pet tree causes your sprite to buck when you use it.

For the pet AI instead of having assist and it goes and attacks the mob that agros you, set it for defense instead. So the pet will attack the Mob that damages the pony, since you put in a mechanic that the pet can't kill the mob only the pony can, so it is pointless to have it go run off and attack a mob that you used a range attack to pull it towards you.

I do hope this helps with some ideas for the game and so far you guys are doing an awesome job with the game so far, looking forward to what you add to it in the next patch, whenever that will happen.
