A serious question:

Will you still actively accept bug reports and allow us to try and break the game after the full release happens?

I think that's definitely a yes, since bugs are going to be an issue no matter the phase of the game, especially when new updates come.

Wow...I sent in TWO applications for the Limited access release and I STILL didnt get accepted??? O.O I am absolutely disgusted and bitterly dissapointed. I might as well just give up waiting for/ playing the game altogether. I will not wait for another couple of months for the game to come out...

Seriously...I thought it was literally first come, first serve...

Two? All that's going to do is create a nuisance for the team.  >.<

Aw shoot, didn't get in. Oh well, guess it will be extra special when the game gets released!

Congrats to those who did get in though! ^^

Post Merge

I have a quick question. The batch that have been selected to test the game now, is that going to be it? Because in the original LAR announcement is was said that there would be multiple waves of people be granted access to the LAR. Will that still happen? Or is this the final batch?

Thanks.

I believe it'll work like the Armored Warfare tests.
There was wave one, which was the smallest of the tests, and every few weeks they'd add a few more people to the test, I got into the second wave.

Ah, they forgot to mention they'll announce those selected in December 2017.

Not December 2016!

Silly silly.  ovO

I wouldn't be F5'ing right now, i'd wait until tomorrow.  :]

Unless people have already been accepted, and you'll just be F5'ing for days.  lol

Thanks! Honestly, if my college schedule wasn't so demanding, I probably would have applied to be a programmer on the game a while back.

Similar story for me, i'd like to apply for a 2D artist position but i'm struggling with college enough, i'd probably be kicked off for not keeping up with the demand.   0:)

i5 3570, GTX 760, 32GB RAM

It obviously isn't as optimized as it could be but I don't really have significant problems outside of the SCC dance parties. Complex areas like parts of Cantermore can be a bit laggy or a dozen spells being cast at once but otherwise it runs well for me.
From previous OSEs, the capacity is a couple hundred at least. And remember this isn't just a brief weekend, the server will be up indefinitely so short of calling for a stress test you would normally not have a lot of players on at once.

I was talking about no man's sky, personally I think LOE seems decently optimized, though it can't really be that demanding due to what it is.

Actually it IS your PC. No Man's Sky requires GPU with OpenGL 4.5

Well in a week all will be known and most likely when someone get a PM i bet one of the first people will write it here that he/she did

Tested it on the following systems and it ran like trash on all of them.

i7 4790, R9 290X, 24GB RAM
5700HQ, GTX 980M, 32GB RAM
6700HQ, GTX 960M, 32GB RAM

The game is terribly optimised.

(Talking about No man's sky, not LOE. LOE has ran fine for me previously.)

Way to stay positive about your chances.  ;)
And I agree, I think they would indeed be selecting from a variety of testers. Your setup may not be as much the norm as mine likely is, so I am sure you would be near retroactively selected, just for that alone, if it is all that unique.  ^-^

Me, I am sure I have a generic setup.  :P

I am running on a (an old non VR ready) gaming laptop, running Windows 8.1, an older i7 and older Nivida chip. Other than not being VR ready, it can play many 3D games quite well. It has little trouble with most any 2014 game. No Man's Sky, is one It can't play, as a newer game.

So, I got something good (good enough to play this, I am sure), though not a stand-out setup.  :s

Should be interesting to see if I get selected within the next few days. To those that do get in, cheers!  :D

Doubt it's your PC, No Man's Sky is just inherently optimised badly, it's one of the most disappointing PC games i've ever played. Refunded it  >:O

That or take a look inside your computer if it's a desktop.. or better yet, know your computer specs by heart! Real gamers know their specs by memory  ^-^

Just being honest here...  :l

I did get a new computer which is an upgrade from my last build I had so the specs i listed in my application are completely different now but still...

Btw, easier way to get some of your computer specs is to go to your file browser (yellow folder) go to that monitor icon that displays all your folders, storage spaces etc.
Right click, properties and then it'll show your processor and ram.

But take Dark Twi's suggestion and quickly DL GPU-Z it'll display everything.

I think something that should be remembered is the fact that there's inevitably going to be a lot of people who apply who are, well, very young I guess?

Computer specification is going to be REALLY hard for them to wrap their heads around but they'd just love to be involved with the testing, so it's a bit of a hard problem to solve without disappointing a lot of potential players (but people only intending to play the game should wait until full release, or a later testing stage), though I suppose people who are eager to help could learn quite fast, since the only thing they'd really need is speccy.  X3

And may I ask what was that you forgot to mention on your application? o.o

Username!  :D

Same.

I wouldn't be nervous, I just think people should anticipate being accepted and if they do get accepted, be willing to do what they actually signed up for.

(testing the game, feedback etc)

I just hope it doesn't turn into everyone just playing the game for fun, because that comes after the testing.  :D

Oh man, it begins.

I've had a few years of anticipation!  :D

Actually. Not everything needs to be vectored. We've had texture artists who don't have vectoring skills, but vectoring can help in case something need to be changed because then you don't need to re-draw it. 99.9% of the cases that won't happen though.

It is always recommended to know how to display your own texture on the finished model like in Photoshop Extended, but if you apply and do get in I can teach you how to do that. It won't take more than 30-50 minutes to learn.

Oh, that's good news.  ^-^

I don't think I should bother applying yet since i'm so new to art, and the only thing I can do decently are characters.

Hey Sigma!

I will update you on 2D in due time, but I wanted to go ahead and address the 3D elements:

So long as your program uses fbx and obj files, then you can use it for 3D Modeling. However, it is preferred that you utilize Blender or Maya, as you can get assistance from the TLs if need-be.

For animation, however, Maya is absolutely required, because all programs have a different style of rigging, and making Maya the standard helps streamline the process.

As I said before, I will address 2D soon, but I wanted to go ahead and mention this part.

If you have any further questions, comments, and/or concerns, simply message me, or email [email protected].

Have a blessed week!

I'm in a similar situation. I'm wanting to apply, but all of my stuff is drawn in SAI and i'm assuming i'll need to vector over it into an SVG.  >A<

Better get learning inkscape.  :l

Awesome, i've got bunches of different hardware i'd love to help try the game on.  X3
