Attention to all aspiring future-corgi's! Do you enjoy learning? Do you enjoy working with others? Do you like goofing off and watching anime? Then I have a special message just for you!

Our very own Perry-sensei is currently looking for new "students" to enroll into his prestigious corgi-classroom. We at Moderation Academy take pride in cultivating a multi-talented learning environment so that we may enrich the lives of our students; and one day you too may become a lean, (but not mean!) troll-slaying machine!

(In short: The mod team is hiring, and we would love it if you joined us!)

Please take a moment to fill out your application form down below:

Quote
Forum Name:

Age:

Experience:

Why would you make a good moderator?:

Anything else you would like us to know?:

Before you fill out the above form, please keep in mind that the following items are mandatory requirements for anyone looking to be a member of the moderation team (I mean- a student at Moderation Academy!):

Spoiler: show
1. Must be of the age of 18 at time of application.

2. Must be a member of the forum community and be in good standings in the community. (This means no warning or any of infractions against the rules.)

3. Must not be the leader of a guild or herd.

4. Must have previous citable moderation experience.

5. Must have good availability.

6. Must be able to work alone or on a team.

7. Must be able to work under high stress environments.

8. Must be able to conform to moderation standards and follow the rules of the team, forum, and community.

9. Must be ready and willing to work.

10. Must have Skype, and a way to talk via voice chat.

Be sure to post your application in this thread, and this thread only! Submitting your form to a moderator, or posting it in some other random part of the forums will not increase your chances of being accepted. (If anything, it would be seen as a lack of reading comprehension or ability to follow directions)

This thread will stay open for about three weeks (or whenever Perry-sensei feels that the positions have been filled) so be sure to post your applications here before it closes.

Good luck my pega-corgi-corns!

Why would you make a good moderator?: I don't have that burden with me that I had before.

Anything else you would like us to know?: I feel more willing than before, as I feel much more capable to do the job now.

Age: 22

Experience: A year or two in moderating a Minecraft server (Canterlot Arcade when it was still up). Volunteered at BABSCon 2015 as part of the Video Game Arcade area (Button's Arcade).

Why would you make a good moderator?: I keep watch of things, especially at times most people aren't online. I lurk around and go invisible whenever anyone is acting suspicious. I have taken some course of action on my own, but I almost always make reports to fellow mods/admins/colleagues before making a final call.

Anything else you would like us to know?: Hmm...
I was able to find a temporary fix for one of the open server events (only to be overshadowed by a newer version moments later).
I'm not sure where I'll be within a year or two from now, but I'll be sure to stop by periodically if I get a busy schedule. Otherwise, I'll be online often.
As for the BABSCon 2015 volunteering, I basically had to keep an eye on the equipment and to tend to all visitors' carry-ons not from the staff, so nothing from the room gets stolen. Thankfully, nothing was reported missing from what I am aware. Oh, and seeing the Legends of Equestria section of the gaming was really neat. Not only was I able to attend the panel, but I was able to meet with a few of the representatives that were present for the game. I asked a few questions, got some answers. Overall, a great experience (not to mention running the game in 60 frames per second!!). Seeing LoE was the highlight of my first BABSCon experience.

EDIT: Added an extra line to "Experience" and added a few lines to "Anything else you would like us to know?".
I got too excited the first time typing up this application and missed a few details. Also, I would like to mention my personal meeting with a few of the LoE staff.

Does being a teacher count as "citable moderation experience?" Not that it really matters, as I think that being a teacher disqualifies me from "Must have good availability."
The Storyteller's symbol is first a book, for without the story itself, there would be nothing to tell. The lines show the breath, the storyteller's medium. At the core: a heart, for like all living things, without heart, the story dies.

Well, when we say moderation experience, we mostly mean stuff like being familiar with mod commands, or how to carry out mod actions on a forum. There's more to it than that (like being able to make sound decisions while also following orders) but if someone already has this kind of experience under their belt, then it makes things a little easier for us. (less time towards training a noobie and more time spent doing mod things)

Then again navigating the in's and out's of the forum doesn't take that much time to learn, and if you're a teacher you're probably more than capable of doing it *-* But availability could be a problem as well...

I say throw your hat into the ring and see what happens! If it's something you really really wanna do :)

Age: Yes (Sorry, I'm a little sensitive about that. I am 18+, with quiet a lot after the "+")

Experience: Outside of real-world moderation, not much.

Why would you make a good moderator?: I want to help. I evaluate all sides of an argument before making my decision, and I typically do it with a calm head.

Anything else you would like us to know?: I am a quick learner, and I pick up on concepts quickly. As long as someone is willing to teach me, or point me in the direction where I can find instructions, I generally catch on pretty quickly. That fall in all categories, too, if anyone is willing to coach me in other fields like, say, Unity programming, ect. The downside of it is: I don't really have any appreciable skills otherwise. Except storytelling.

Anything else you would like us to know?: Been in to MLP:FiM for about 5 months now and found that I really like the show. I have also applied to be a concept artist with you guys.

Age: 15.

Experience: Worked on Impressive World, Impressive Title, and once made my own server/game, Ran as an admin in five other games for two years. I have little sister who has taught me to be a texture artist, and who also been a global moderator on several other games with me, and we both have taught one another.

Why would you make a good moderator?: I have a lot of experience and I am able to work under pressure. I am very mature for my age and i've been on LoE for quite sometime, and would love to help it further in the future. I have also worked in a group and solo before, I have a very high patience level as I have to deal with problems of my own daily and I am able to handle them very well in my and others opinions, my swearing level is always at a very low minimum and I would never be harsh or fatal towards another player or staff. But I will take action where it is needed! I take great pride and joy in helping others and making sure everyone is safe, as I know the pain and the loss of being a bit stuck or needing help.  ^-^ I enjoy to socialise with other staff and members, and I can sort out a lot of problems or arguments with others.

Anything else you would like us to know?: I do have a life, this means collage and homework. But I do have lots of time on the weekends and I have friday off or whenever I get home, however Mondays I am at collage almost all day. This dose not affect my stress level! My skype is: gypsyplays and I am able to call whenever i'm online, I understand all the rules and read them often, and i'm sure I have no warnings or problems with any of the staff here, (that i'm aware of.) Thank you. <3

-EDIT I understand that I must be 18+, however I would still love to give this a try. (Forgive me I forgot to add this.)

Is previous citable moderation experience an absolute? Unfortunately, the closest I've come to "moderating" is watching chat on OSWs (yes, I realize modding is more than just watching chat and being a guide). Regardless, if possible, I'd love to be a part of something like this.
Many thanks

Why would you make a good moderator?: I believe in the rules and do my best to stand by them. I am also a great listener and can follow directions given to me

Anything else you would like us to know?: Yes I do have a Skype if I need to tell you what it is I will pm it or edit the post accordingly. I am free most of the day and am willing to work alone or in a group if need be and I am usually pretty chill in most situations oh and last but certainly not least if I am online I am more than willing and able to work for/with who or what ever is asked of me. Well there you go I hope I have some kind of consideration.
Thank You.

If you do not have citable moderation experience, it is not an automatic no, if that is what you're asking. But you'll have to make the rest of your application extra impressive to make up for lack of experience. :)

Then I'll throw my hat into the ring!

Forum name: O. Vannen

Experience: . . .

Why would you make a good moderator?: While I have really no experience as a moderator, I have spent my entire life working alone and with people in various environments, ranging from volunteer work, to multiple leadership positions in the BSA, to a number of musical ensembles through high school and college, with the intent to lead one of my own in the future. I take well to new actions and am able to turn around and help someone else for the most part. I'm a thinker before acting; I take in as much information as possible as an unbiased observer before performing an action, unless time dictates I move NOW. I will consult a fellow mod or two or report higher should a situation grow too large or out-of-the-norm. After-action reports will be submitted. I have an incredible amount of patience. So, if a player/forum user turns on me, because [reasons], I won't let them get under my skin. I try not to beat around the bush and should a fellow mod or two agree, then I will ban/kick the player/forum user, but if I don't have to, I won't. If I can set them straight and send them on their way, they can still play.

Anything else you would like us to know?: I aim to please, I will follow your rules to the letter (I wouldn't have it any other way) and I intend to enforce said rules with a firm, but gentle (digital) hand. As a possible future moderator, I intend to help make Legends of Equestria a safe environment and help maintain it as a positive face of the MLP fandom. While, yes, I am a Music Education major, I intend to dedicate as much time as is necessary and then some to being a moderator. Possible future fellow mods can still contact me even while I'm offline, should they need another opinion. If I can, I'm quick to offer some help (like guide somepony out of the Evershade) and am happy to do so. In all honesty, I really look forward to the eventual release of this project and even if I can't help make it into a reality, I would like to make it a place where friends can come hang out and play the game undeterred. I'd love the experience as a moderator as I believe it may benefit me outside of the game itself. While I may be a bit (or really) quirky at times, I tend to stay focused on the task at hand, but in the end I'm all for making sure there's fun to be had.

Plus, I get a lantern.  *squee*

This might just be my opinion: But yes! So long as the thread is still open, I think it's okay to make edits to your post. I usually go back and re-read applications every so often just in case somebody left out important info initially and then went back and added to it

as long as any edits are mentioned along with a reason as to why, we do not wish to be reading a application sevral times only to find information has been changed last second that might affect our decision. if you wish to ajust gramatical or spelling errors that is fine. Just inform us in your edited post if you add substancial changes such as an extra line of text

In addition please note the moderation team does take the applications seriously and we do often look for detail, it is much harder to judge your character from one or two short lines, we are not asking for essays but please do take applications seriously and take your time when giving information.
