BECAUSE EVERYPONY ELSE IS DOING IT HYUK HYUK HYUK.

Technically my "ponysona" in the sense that she represents my profile here, but rest assured she's not me, nor does she represent a self-insert.

TALENT: Talking to, reasoning with, and working with dragons

  • flying

  • exploration

  • dragons (duh)

  • Sweet Nothings

  • Spilt Ink

  • traveling

  • pestering Spilt Ink while she's in the middle of writing

  • freeloading off of Sweet Nothings

  • singing

DISLIKES:

  • timberwolves

  • Poison Joke

  • getting gussied up (reason explained in misc.)

  • getting stared at

  • talking to ponies she doesn't know very well

  • becoming separated from Sweet/Spilt

  • sleeping

  • getting her wings caught anywhere

  • thinking/talking about death

PERSONALITY:

Thunder Racer is interesting in that she displays two personality types, depending on who she's around/talking to: a personality type that she displays around those she is close to, and one around those she isn't.

To most ponies, Thunder Racer appears to be somewhat snappish, distant, and aloof. She prefers to fade into the background and if she can avoid contact, she will. Of course, she has been working on this and trying to talk to other ponies when she is by herself, but if she's accompanied by her best friends Sweet Nothings and Spilt Ink, she'll prefer for them to talk for her. She is not overly concerned about how she appears, but instead wary about how ponies will behave around her. In other words, she distrusts ponies before she can trust them. They make her wary and edgy, and she can be fidgety in their presence. She tries to put on a good face, smiles and everything, but she tires quickly around other ponies and doesn't demonstrate the full extent of her enthusiasm. It's draining for her.

On the other hoof, with ponies she knows well, she's enthusiastic and puts on a brave face. She has a lust for life that's hidden beneath that wariness, and an incredible desire to nurture nature. Some of her habits match that of an earth pony, examining crops, learning about animals, etc. It is actually her thirst for adventure that keeps her group as active as it is. She's the one who goads them into exploring the Everfree Forest, despite how it's practically forbidden and no one should go in. She also tends to be cocky, but not because she's a great flier; she's a frequenter of the phrase "pegasi master race", and sometimes shoves it in other ponies' faces. They know she's playing, although Spilt Ink tends to get back at her for it. In fact, they have a sort of friendly rivalry, while Sweet Nothings acts more as Thunder Racer's confidant and her go-to pony whenever she needs something, as well as her go-to whenever she wants to help somepony.

She's deathly afraid of timberwolves and some other creatures, but even in the face of those creatures she's willing to help her friends. She's one of the most loyal ponies you ever did meet, and she can be very forgiving once she lets somepony in, especially of Spilt Ink and Sweet Nothings. She comes off as aggressive sometimes, but she's actually very well-meaning. If only she weren't so clumsy... (and perhaps, weren't so stubborn, almost high-strung)...

FLAWS: She's stubborn, and she's also clumsy with her wings. She's definitely not one of the best fliers even if she enjoys it. She's also distrusting, almost hostile toward ponies she doesn't know well. She's a free spirit without care for responsibilities or risks, and therefore can come off as reckless.

BIOGRAPHY:

Thunder Racer has a rather simple backing for her story. She was born in Cloudsdale, but her parents went MIA not long after she was born, and so she was placed in an orphanage. An earth pony couple visiting Cloudsdale wanted a pegasus pony for the fact they thought it would be fun to raise one, and adopted her out, not realizing how difficult taking care of her could be. For one, they were not of her same race, so she couldn't identify with them on that level. For another, they didn't realize the responsibility in taking care of a filly in general, let alone a pegasus. As a result, they unintentionally neglected her due to her disposition not lining up with the easy care that they were hoping for and expecting, and it resulted in some dissonance between her and her "parents". If that wasn't enough, when they moved to Ponyville with her, she was almost immediately bullied for her large wing size and how bad she was at flying. At the age she was adopted, fillies weren't great fliers at the time so it wasn't too much of a bone to pick, but as she grew older and it was clearer she was clumsy the bullying worsened. It was because of this that she emotionally distanced herself from other ponies, believing she didn't need any of them, and acted rude and even brash with them whenever she spoke.

At some point in her fillyhood, Sweet Nothings moved to Ponyville. She had originally come from Canterlot, but she was bullied for her being an earth pony. Thunder didn't care much for her at first; after all, she was like anypony else. Sweet gravitated toward another in their class, Spilt Ink, instead. Spilt Ink had been on the receiving end of some major bullying herself and Sweet wanted to cheer her up, which resulted in the two of them bonding. They started spending more time together, while Thunder stayed in the background - up until Sweet noticed Thunder's hidden distress too when she found her weeping to herself about how the ponies treated her. Thunder blew her off at first, but as her and Spilt teamed up to cheer her up, Sweet got her Cutie Mark and Thunder earned herself the best (and only) friends she could possibly ask for.

Thunder became accustomed over the years to making many other friends once she grew warmer to strangeponies only for them to leave, but Spilt and Sweet never left her side, and she always kept them. It got to the point that the three of them were practically inseparable, going on escapades together, including one through Everfree Forest (much to Spilt's chagrin, as she was more of an indoorsy pony). It was there that Thunder protected Spilt and Sweet from a dragon, and earned her Cutie Mark. The rest, as they say, is history.

MISC.:

  • Thunder Racer has a large build; she's obviously well-built, and she's the only one of their trio who can lift Sweet Nothings by sheer strength alone. Her wings are big even for her body. This has led to her becoming clumsy at flying. Also, this means dresses etc. don't fit her very well unless they're specially made, which she often has to pay extra bits for. "No thanks!"

  • She always wears goggles. The hilarious thing is, she never wears them on her eyes. Just usually on her forehead. She thinks they look cool, even if she's not overly concerned about her appearance. She just likes wearing the darn things.

  • Thunder is not stupid. She can figure things out, and she has quite a bit of street smarts. She can focus on a book for pretty long, too. She's just not as well read as, say, Spilt Ink.

  • There is no traumatic experience driving her fear of timberwolves. She's just plain afraid of them.

  • Thunder probably spends just as much time running as she does flying. She's not a pegasus who flies all the time to get around, only usually to catch up to other ponies.

  • Because of the size of her wings, Thunder prefers to jump off cliffs in order to fly. Starting up from the ground requires her to think more about not accidentally slapping her wings against the ground. It's annoying.

  • Thought I'd mention this but Sweet Nothings and Spilt Ink aren't my characters. They belong to two friends of mine. Ye.

Earth ponies. Without them, the rest of Equestria would starve, as the Alicorn rulers, even though they could most likely grow food, would certainly not have enough for an entire nation.

You could make the same argument of pegasi. After all, the crops that earth ponies raise need regular weather cycles in order to grow sufficiently.

Anyway, I think all of them are great. I think by "best" it really depends on what thing they're supposed to be "best" at. None of them are overall completely superior to one another, they just have traits that specialize them. That being said, of them all I think alicorns would be best off as jack-of-all-trades, but what would set them back is how rare they would be.

Though if you asked Thunder Racer, pegasi are master race. Yuk yuk yuk.

so its over? that was it? it wont open till next weekend/year? I thought it was an official server like pony minecraft servers. you know, open all the time but busy on weekends and late and not busy during the day. this sucks  :c

The open server days seem to be for stress tests, to see how well the servers fare when there's a bunch of ponies on it. The game isn't actually complete yet.

It might be a while before they open them again, but there'll be so much new content to see and hopefully their servers will be improved the next time. Be patient!

Spoiler: show
Honestly, I thought Discord was just being Discord. He may be "reformed," but all that really means is that he won't cause chaos on a mass scale. True chaos, while not inherently evil, is never truly good either, and this was a good display of Discord being himself (and he really is a "big, dumb meanie") while still staying well enough within his boundaries.

The song was certainly catchy. Really catchy actually, got stuck in my head for the good part of a day up until I logged into LoE and the music in game drowned it out. Still trying to figure out what all the song was based off of though. Parts of it reminded me of the genie's song from Aladdin, but there's something else I can't quite quite pin to it that seems familiar.

Overall though I actually really enjoyed this episode and was laughing through almost the whole thing. The only thing I didn't really like was Pinkie's "ooh shiny" moments, but they've been doing weird things with her all season now so I'm sadly going to assume she's going to be like through the finale. Can only hope they tone down her behavior next season.

Should probably still use spoilers for even minor things about the episodes until Mondays. I've had the smallest things give away parts of an episode no matter how hard I try to avoid them beforehand.

Spoiler: show
Can I be real? I don't like this "Discord being Discord" attitude.

It's not that he's causing general mischief for fun, at this point he's being manipulative and purposely trying to make ponies miserable (or himself happy at their expense) which becomes pretty abusive behavior. This wouldn't be so bad if the episodes and their lessons didn't blatantly ignore it and treat it like "ooh, it's just Discord, it's totally okay". It reminds me a frightening amount of "boys will be boys". It doesn't matter if it's Discord or not, he shouldn't be on a different moral pedestal from everypony else. He should be punished for how he is behaving.

Most of my thoughts of this episode can be seen as nitpicks. But really, I just didn't like it very much. What I was happy about was getting to see Twilight Sparkle and Cadence together in an episode again. The two of them bounce off each other very well as they both play straight mare.
