Mr. Brown shrugged nonchalantly.  "I suppose I'd have to agree there, Coffee.  Somepony made it about as toasty in town as you keep it in here for a change," he said, pausing to take a sip.  "Have you heard anything of interest lately?"

Mr. Brown completed the last sunlight spell for the morning, lighting the final crystal suspended over the caverns.  "Well, that's that," he sighed.  He'd be a bit more cranky if somepony hadn't turned up the heat in the caverns... at least he could be comfortable while he was tired.
The turquoise unicorn finished his morning routine by heading off down the strong granite-cored but decoratively marble-plated pillars to a local favorite drink shop of his, Starbits, where he sat down and ordered a mug of hot cocao.

Save Derpy is a completely unnecessary effort, as far as I'm concerned.  Derpy's not in any danger.  Some folks chose to take offense at something that wasn't even directed at them, and that was their choice to have such a negative outlook on the world.  Derpy is a character who the MLP fanbase will never let go of, no matter what the show does, so all I can call that video is "unnecessary", not sad.  I know Derpy wouldn't be crying like that because she's living on stronger than ever in the hearts of probably millions of people around the world.

Snowdrop was a touching story... I'll say that for sure.  Sad, uplifting, then sad again.  If it didn't end with Snowdrop... y'know... not being there anymore... it'd be a heartwarming story, but as it is, I'd have to say that wins the sad competition.  Then again, since I can't call Save Derpy sad, and Sim Gretina's remix of Hush Now has absolutely nothing sad about it, Snowdrop is really the only option on this list with any amount of sad in it to begin with. x3

...Along that note, could you please explain what you think is sad about that remix?

Standard Character

Spoiler: Sign-up • show
Name: Anonymous; goes by "Mr. Brown" out of a hidden grief for his lost past, as though his true name is no longer relevant.
Gender: Male
Age: 38
Race: Unicorn
Physique: Average
Appearance (image or description): Blue mane and tail, cut relatively short and tidy, with a turquoise coat.
Cutie Mark: A stone showing the fiery effects of atmospheric re-entry (or, simply put, a shooting star)
Talent: Comprehending star patterns, predicting meteor showers, and spotting distant star-swirls (pony term for galaxies)
Abilities: Lesser solar magic, common levitation spells, lesser combat spells
Place of birth/origin: Manehattan
Current home: 1385 Granite Road, Orod Khazad, Duchy Fancy
Faction: Duchy Fancy
Occupation: Farm Assistant
Personality: Somewhat stingy about being corrected, he doesn't care too much about learning the truth.  "The truth abandoned us... let it stay up there and freeze.  I'm doing fine down here."
Special powers: Solar generation; a charge-up spell which is cast upon a magic crystal hung over an underground one-acre crop field.  It will essentially turn the crystal into an artificial sun for the day, giving the plants just enough solar energy to power their metabolism.  He casts this several times a day in order to power multiple crops which help to feed Orod Khazad, and while the spell isn't particularly difficult to cast, his morning runs usually leave him tired and cranky for a few hours.
Alignment: Pacifist/Leave well enough alone.
Brief bio: Life was all good and fine when I was younger.  I was toward the top in my class, my parents were wealthy, and there was no snow.  ...Goodness, have I become that biased against the common frost of winter?  It's been so long since I last saw the sun...  I used to study celestial bodies.  That occupation has, of course, long since been taken from me.  Now I make my own lights in the "sky"... pitiful things they are, they can barely please the crops the earth ponies plant.  We all get by well enough, though... things could be far worse as far as I am concerned.  Don't get me wrong, I miss our powerful leaders, but we seem to be doing all right... I'd rather not bother the queer forces of ice outside the mountain.
Purpose/Mission: Keep calm and carry on; it could be worse.
Inventory: Common household maintenance items, he doesn't usually carry much with him other than warm clothing and a moderate coin purse when he goes out in the city.  The only notable thing is a telescope collecting dust in the corner of his basement.
Have you read, and agreed to, all the rules?: yes

Yellow trotted back to the barracks with Rose, not really saying much.  She looked forward to her first flight... it might give her something to actually talk about.  Meanwhile, they arrived at the barracks and Yellow settled into her bunk for the night.
46
Yellow thought the name for a moment.  "I think I'll be using a callsign, but this isn't something I can come up with on the spot.  We've been working on the craft all day... it's bunk time now, right?  Mind if I sleep on it and get up early tomorrow to paint the callsign?"
47
Yellow nodded.  "If we can do that, it'd probably be the best option.  No point in renovating this craft if it won't come back under the same name.  So now I paint my name somewhere the marines can see it?"
48
The armored figure everypony knew contained Wavelength was slowly nodding back and forth like it was uttering some kind of chant while it idly pedaled, completely oblivious to everything happening outside.  Truth be told, he was--at this point--afraid he wouldn't make it back to Confetty with his mind intact if he opened his eyes again.
49
Yellow ran a hoof through her mane.  "Drat, that name already sounds like it's been through this situation.  ...On second thought, I have a feeling the old name coming back to life exactly as it was might hold the message the captain wanted.  Could we just keep the old name?"
50
Yellow sat down and stared at the sheet thoughtfully.  "You're my crew chief, right, Rose?  I reckon whatever I choose should be something we agree on, since this'll be kinda co-owned.  ...What was its name before, Gregor?  I think I might have an idea for basing it off the old name.  Something that signifies how the bad guys kicked the pelican down, but it got right back up into the fight."
51
Wavelength, being admittedly easy to distract, casually watched the filly run away, then watched her slowly walk back.  He turned his head to look at the dragon again, then realized the professor just spoke about notes.  Wavelength somewhat hastily got a paper out and started taking note of all the dragon's features as quickly as he could, suspecting he'd fallen behind by now.
52
Yellow looked over at one of the name-bearing armor chunks.  "Yeah, I've been wondering about that... what comes next in this particular scenario?" she asked Gregor.
53
Wavelength shrugged and took a seat as the situation slowly resolved itself.  It seemed this field trip didn't have much advance planning.
54
Yellow circled the pelican and checked over the scarred but now sturdy hull.  "All right, what's next?  Any short circuits or broken conduits, Gregor?"
55
Wavelength mentally began to freak out about how insane every aspect of this vehicle now was, but that freakout quickly turned into a freakout of the freakout.  Don't think about it, don't think about it, don't think about it...  He muted external sounds from his helmet, squeezed his eyes shut, and started nervously singing to himself.
56
"I suppose that's all true.  Not too different from any other pilot's job nowadays..."  She went about replacing another hull piece.  "Hey, Rose, how's the progress looking to you?"
57
Yellow paused for a moment.  "I don't wanna be a coward, but I really hope we don't get ambushed anywhere..."  She took a long look at one of the damaged metal plates.  "I can't help but wonder if the choice to join a military force was the right one.  Flying a troop transport won't be an easy first job."
58
Wavelength remembered a few tests of vehicles somewhat like this one, and he remembered that they took a minute to start spinning.  He started pedaling to get the rotors moving while they waited for Pinkie Pie to take the "helm".
59
"That sounds pretty strong.  I hope those weapons aren't a common threat..."  Yellow set to work bolting the seat down, then went ahead and checked all the other seats for security.  That started her off on a whole exploration of the entire craft, tightening anything and everything loose.  Yellow Light wasn't one for flying a wobbly aircraft.
60
"All right, I suppose we won't have too much trouble," Yellow said with a smirk before sticking the appropriate armor plate over the hole between her and the console.
Spoiler: Locations • show
Yellow is still outside the pelican, and was speaking to Gregor through a hole in the plating that she had taken a damaged armor piece off of.

She walked around behind the pelican and hopped into the crew compartment.  "Looks like we'll need a new seat here... something punched right into the bay," she said, inspecting the inside of the hole she'd been looking through.
