Monaco is the old Wikia skin. This skin had been ported over to MediaWiki and is used on wiki sites powered by MediaWiki (such as the official Minecraft Wiki for example). Oasis is the replacement skin for Monaco, and is adopted on all current Wikia sites. Some of the older users do prefer the Monaco skin as such, but Wikia no longer has the option to choose the layout, hence some had switched over to MediaWiki.
