i think they just decided to swap around some bodies and personalities

Pretty sure that spell is canon. Didn't Twilight use it in episode 16?

I think he's talking about stuff like Lilpip's *make the non-pegasi fly* spell

but cloud-walking is canonical enough.

If Twilight's mom was pink or if Twilight was pink? Either way, I think it's pretty safe to say that MLP: FiM is popular. If you're talking about G1 being popular, I'm sure it was popular in its time, when it was showing decades ago.

I haven't heard anything about that, and I'm not sure how to find out if it's true or not. It'd be neat if it was true.

It sounds like a complete lie to me ~_~' Like some brony made that up because Faust couldn't POSSIBLY have wanted a female-dominated cast, so Hasbro must have gotten involved.

Faust played with ponies when she was little, and they were mostly girls who went on exciting adventures. Plus it's like you said in the original post, the mane 6 were based off pre-existing G1 ponies, with a little bit of G3 thrown in for legal reasons.
