Message of the Week: Due to more people joining quicker than I anticipated, a slight hierarchy change is in order.
I was thinking of adding an SOP, or Server of Operations here.  Basically so everyone knows what server they can find fellow Knights on.  What do you all think?

Hm...You've given me a thought, Naura.
This test doesn't have to be only for the game, it can also be a test of the herd.
We can see for ourselves what changes or stays.  I know the majority of our group doesn't seem to mind in-game RP, but also seems indifferent.
So I guess we'll see.

I won't be there first day, since then I'm on camp, the other day will be the first time I test it on my Pc, so we'll see how much I can be online and see how it is.

I've been thinking of changing the names of the ranks.  They're rather drab, in my opinion.
I don't have many ideas, but I was thinking of separate names for the final rank depending on your gender.
Dawn Captain if you're male, like myself.  Or Grand Phoenix if you're female.
I won't be around forever, and I'm sure there will be other leaders in the future.

Anyway, does anyone have ideas for rank name changes?  You're all in this group, and you should have a say over it.

MotW Addendum:  I've been looking at the other herds, and I've noticed that most don't use a rank system.  Rather, they use a kind of job system. 
Everyone has a place or task in the herd that is no less important than any other, and I like that.

I have ideas about how to make positions in the herd better, such as dividing ranks via race.
So Stanwixbuster would be Pegasus First Lieutenant.  Stan would be leading the pegasi of the herd.
Ramisha (Forest Wyvern) would be Earth Pony First Lieutenant, acting the same as Stan, but for the Earth Ponies.
Then the Second Lieutenants would be directly under the Firsts, acting more like specialists, or replacements if the Firsts are absent.
Example:  ChibiGrrl (Sweet Hoof) would be a direct advisor and almost equal of sorts to Ramisha, specializing in exploration rather than artistry.  She would also act as a replacement in the event that Ram is absent.

From there, everything is flat ground depending on your talent or desired position.
Example:  Checkmate would be the Tactics Officer, Howitzer would be the Field Medic, and so on.

...Wow that was long...
All in favor of nigh completely renovating the rank system to a better, less authoritative one, as well as stating any new ideas of your own?

Then what would be the point to begin with?
We wouldn't have an organizing structure, or a representative to others, or really any direction.  At that point, why make a herd to begin with?

It would be the Lieutenants on top, commanding the races as separate groups if necessary, but together for the most part.
There would be a Pegasus division, an Earth Pony division, etc, led by the First Lieutenants or Seconds.
Everything below that would be left to work with eachother as they need it, free unless there's actual need for the knights to assemble.

Like a dragon invasion.

Conclusion:
This is mostly due to my inaction so far, but this MotW seems inconclusive as well.

I've been talking to Blue Shield, and he's shared a few ideas that I'd like to get everyone's opinions on.
The rank name changes could be tied to different branches of the military based upon our race.

Pegasi would be the Airforce, Unicorns would be Navy, and Earth Ponies would be Marines.
The highest rank being at the top, they would be as follows.



So I'm hoping this will finalize the name changes, leaving us room to discuss other things.

Members can climb in ranks through heroic actions (lol), or if one of the higher ups thinks it's a good idea.  If, for instance, I decided to promote you or Howi, I'd hold a council-ish thing with the Firsts to decide if you deserve it.
Since the game isn't out yet, the whole heroic actions thing is impossible, and the higher ups have no opportunity or reason to hold a promotion meeting. :P

As for your crest, just do the quote function and copy this into your signature.

You know, I DID get a pretty good idea... Since I'm helping Dawn with some idears on how to organize the herd and stuffs, maybe there could be a second design used in the Sergeant tier for the First Sergeant Rank Insignia, and the First Sergeant would aid the Lieutenant or Dawn Captain (Depending on who they were assigned) with tasks like book keeping and all that fancy stuff. :3

Yeah, exactly. The First Sergeant in the Air Force was a Master Sergeant or higher, and they were picked to assist the commander with things like meetings, paperwork, helping the soldiers (or getting them in trouble if they did something wrong)

Yeah, I would happily be a scout! I would fly as high as I could and get a better view of things! Oh, grey will be back on later today, she got grounded  :s and I could also be a mapper at some point!

Blue has since changed his mind, so I won't be transferring him.

Okay, we can figure it out. I think the earth ponies should be at the front lines, with the pegasi flying above them firing double cyclones, and the Unicorns spread off to the sides firing spells off and healing the earth ponies. since very few/any monsters fly/fire things into the air, I think most of the pegasi should be pretty safe. Anyone like my idea?

I think that just as long as we have earth ponies to tank damage, pegasi to rain down cyclones, and unicorns to use as support and medic, we'll all be perfectly fine.
But one thing I thought of is that the only time we'll ever have to be THIS organized is when (and if) the mods release the dragon hurricane like last time. the biggest clumps of enemies in the Evershade is about 4-5, so only 4 ponies minimum would be enough for an attack.

Well...A small army or squad would be necessary for dragon-hunting, right?
From what I remember, those guys take quite a few pones to kill.

I think 2 ponies can take down a dragon if they know what they are doing. I saw a pegasus fighting a dragon and helped him, it worked well because he was a distraction and I could attack the dragon without getting hit. Also I know someone who could be our blacksmith! Either me or my friend (if she joins our herd but I'm pretty sure she will).

Well, it's not so much a talent as it would be like a power... Kinda like Checkmate's arcane wing, I suppose... But seeing as he can actually focus it to be more than flight or weather control, I suppose it would be considered more of a talent... By my understanding of it at least.

The paperwork will state the full description as to what happened, with my signature, Column, rank, etc. And I will send it to the Dawn Captain with my suggested route of correction/reward.

Anyone in the herd who has any questions about anything, please utilize your chain of command. If you do not know your direct chain of command, I'll let you know, and help you out. The Dawn Captain is a very busy man (Yeah, right~ I'm just kidding)

Okay, forget that, I have to write a letter (WHY?! I HATE WRITING!)

Okay, M00nGl0w, due to your rank, your current chain of command is your Colonel, Lieutenant General, General, me, then the Dawn Captain.

Any issues you have, you'll take to your colonel if your column has one. If he/she cannot resolve your issue, they'll carry it up the chain until the problem is solved.

If the person refuses to help, skip that step and notify why you're going directly to them, as opposed to the standard chain of command, and the issue will hopefully be solved ASAP. I'd only suggest going to Dawns if all else fails. But anything, I'll help you out, as it's my job as First Sergeant. Lol

Hey back again from playing for another 30 mins of the game, was unable to find anyone I know of but I got to explore a bit X3 ;

I was originally going to Ponydale for the 'High Time For A Pie' quest and I took a wrong turn, instead of going to the train station.. I went outside of Cantermore from the front/back entrance idk and I stumbled on The Heartlands.

Huge green landscape as far as I can see, there is a small village (even smaller than Ponydale) and an outpost just couple of flights away from the little village. I didn't find any monsters (only a bunch bouncing bunnies which similarly looks like Angel :I )

Got glitchy in that place but man does the night time sound tracks is good ^-^ Still couldn't stay long, going back to Cantermore and I got called out. Well that's my second playthrough, hopefully my third would be my own laptop and with zero glitches. Hopefully... X3

I was at Piaffe server btw. (I don't know why I kept entering that server, it sounds delicious like muffin pie...) Got a server crash once, lots of loading screen time though I don't mind that much since I prefer it not to crash and that's pretty much of it.

I know I should write this on another thread of forum but I just wanting to let you guys know of this. :)

Herds haven't been implemented into the game yet, and no...I think it's best to only use one.
You're free to change the OC you have into a different one, though! :D

Just a question... have you guys thought about making a Knights of the Dawn xat or chatango room or something?... ( I prefer xat personally x3 ) I just thought it would make communication a little easier between the herd... and it would be a good way for new members to meet everyone  ^-^ I just think instant messaging is better... especially for rp's and such... but I am very impatient so ofcourse I would think that way  :I

Well, if a different user holds a different chat, Dawns could perhaps open up the full herd chatroom, and I could be in charge of the meetings.

actually krystal has a good point and ive been with xat for many years now and I could easily set up a herd only chatroom for us that is if I have permuission to plus I had recently changed my name on there to my oc name soo yeah

I was hoping someone would catch that! Man, that was a fun game.

That one was.  That was the first one I played, never played 1 cause I've heard it was boring.  Spent the whole game in the hot-dog suit cause I found it funny to swear in a bad accent as a hot-dog.

The first one sets the stage for 2. It explains much of the storyline. Also, you like being mute. Your character has some four lines. But, oh the characters. Johnny, Dex, Troy, Julius, the Los Carnales, the Rollaz. The Vice Kings. I'd recommend it, in all honesty.

I know the story, like, I watched videos on it and I picked up enough from the secret Julius mission.

What kind of computer do you have? PC or Mac?

Cause I know that PCs with Windows often have Windows Movie Maker, which you can take your shorter videos and put them in your larger one like a compilation. It's relatively easy and to my knowledge, it's free through Microsoft. It's a program I trust, since I'm very nit picky on what programs go on my computers, I wouldn't add much anything else without checking out reviews first.

Word of advice, don't go through Cnet for your reviews or downloads, because every time I got any through there, I end up with a bunch of unwanted extra downloads or viruses. That really becomes a pain in the neck after a while.

Okay, so my big thing is dedicated healer through a lot of the games that have some kind of a healer class... And I got to thinking; if they apply healing spells and/or abilities, why not do something like that?

Now; I'm not saying they will. I can't, I don't know anything about what they've got planned for the game in the future, but I'm saying big IF they get those in, What could the possibility of me getting a few people to start a Medical Corps branch of Knights of the Dawn? Or the possibility of making a minor herd (I can explain EXACTLY what that means when asked) to kinda help out all the herds and the healers are still members of their primary herd... Something like that.

(AGAIN!!! This is just a thought, just for consideration and I don't want to really dedicate to the idea unless we know for sure whether or not they'll be adding medicinal spells and abilities.)

I'm not sure if a healing ability will be for all classes, but it seems like they will just be used for Unicorns only. If an idea like this does start to become a thing for the clan, I'll get behind it. I usually position myself as a healer whenever anyone engages in combat, so it seems like a decent idea.

HAHA! It's been verified! Apparently Unicorns actually have had a healing spell for quite sometime!

My evil plan is coming along nicely... Wait... I said that out loud, didn't I...?

Since the ball's been idle for a while, I think now is a safe time to post this.

I won't be very active, as I've demonstrated lately.  It's safe to assume that if you're looking for me, you won't find me for at least a week, and we just can't have that.
Starting today, I'm moving the title of Dawn Captain to PlatinumJoystick, as he was the popular choice in the Herd while I was gone a few months ago.  If he wishes to promote someone else to the position later for any reason, he is fully allowed to as he sees fit.  I'll be cutting a few people from the system, the few I know won't be coming back, and PM-ing the original post to Platinum, who can either create a new page that he has control of, or promote whoever he wishes to the position and PM them the original post.
If another post is made, the Dawn Captain can contact a moderator to have this one locked and moved to the retirement home.

Since we have an open server today, what servers will everyone be on? Griffinilia (or whatever it was) seems the most stable.

Equiss (think that's what it's called) seems to work the best for me, so I'll be sticking to that.
