((Still waiting for Koalemos to respond to my random teleportation.))

Well, I did ask Magus. Here's the chat.

[20/12/2013 19:30:22] bart watson: Also, is Laserbolt capable of teleporting to Avalon? Can I respond, or must he get your permission for that action, first?

[20/12/2013 19:30:47] Wandering Magus: hmm, he's not supposed to be ablee to.
[20/12/2013 19:31:07] Wandering Magus: nobody's supposed to be able to teleoport in unless they're Cadance or Chrysteel.
[20/12/2013 19:31:23] Wandering Magus: that's why Guru Fido has to make it to the Gate first, then walk in.
[20/12/2013 19:31:28] Wandering Magus: rather than pop up inside.
[20/12/2013 19:31:40] bart watson: Well, he just straight up and did it anyway :p
[20/12/2013 19:31:46] Wandering Magus: imma retcon it.
[20/12/2013 19:31:58] bart watson: Or "teleported right next to me" who is in Avalon, no?
[20/12/2013 19:31:58] Wandering Magus: and give him a second-strike warning.

So there.. He got banned before that 'second-strike' warning. Now I don't know what to respond.

One more thing... Can somepony inform me of the method used for this chat? Skype? Can I get Magus's contact info for it?

wanderingmagus on Skype.
[19:53:15] Wandering Magus: I'm available from 10am to 5pm PST on weekdays.

So, there :D

Magus gives his approval, under certain conditions.

[18:01:10] Wandering Magus: so, like I was saying, Asterian's offering to GM.  I have no problem with it, but he should PM either you or one of the others on the chat if it comes to lore and world.
[18:02:10] Wandering Magus: lore being anything to do with broader history, like the "gods"
[18:02:39] Wandering Magus: world being, well, Chaos Capitol, Chaos Castle, etc.

[18:05:05] Wandering Magus: tell him that if he wants to know my inspiration to look up this:
[18:05:46] Wandering Magus: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/PonyPOVSeries-Pantheon

[18:32:52] Wandering Magus: if someone wants to GM it in my absence, I'm perfectly fine with it, but I want to make sure they don't butcher the world or lore.

People on the chat: Me, Magus, Teal Turken, Omega_Khaos, moonlight7starshine, Wavelength. All these people can confirm the validity of these chat messages, yes? Perfect.

Well, the GM has spoken. Go forth, and enjoy yourself Asterian.

Why not just ask Magus, instead? Gotcha covered, answer will be provided within 48 hours. If not, tough luck.

Tried that, no contact.

Well, Magus does have a rather busy life, and isn't always available. You'll have to be a little patient, if you wish to have an answer. He is rarely online, and even when he is, he often is unresponsive. That's why I said 48 hours, it might take a while.

The information Chirp provided was not the reason for his ban or his ban extension.  Like I said if you wish to know then PM me.

I wasn't there when this whole ordeal happened, I merely quoted Magus when his extended ban became subject of our conversation.

Furthermore, I don't see the point to PMing you. If we are to free to ask you the reason, then save yourself the trouble of answering PMs and just state so here. It's us (RPers of WoD, and any of Magus' RPs) that are interested in this anyway, and anyone who wishes to join WoD or ANY of his RPs should also know why the GM is inactive. But fine, I'll PM you.

Quote from: Asterian on 2014 Jan 14, 10:40:43
Until Magus's return, I could take over as GM for the time being.

I won't do so unless a size-able number of you vote for it, but I know Magus would not want his RP to sit idly by while he waits to return. I can't replace Magus, but perhaps I can keep the RP moving... if you will allow me. I know he would want us to continue.

I want this to be a group decision, however.

Why not just ask Magus, instead? Gotcha covered, answer will be provided within 48 hours. If not, tough luck.

You want to know then you can come to me.  I will not post it on the forums because of the post in nature caused much stress to some members of the forum and team.

You don't have to explicitly state what happened. A description of the event would be enough, but let me quote Magus on this one.

"I actually went on a "guess what i can do on the darknet" rant in this other chat after seeing it, and then they all called the admins thinking I was gonna hire a killer or something.
so I had a nice chat where I just basically told all of them (bloomberg, perry, anya, all the other admins) that they're not worth my time anyways."

Oh, and what does this underlined phrase mean?

It's a character from Adventure Time who likes to yell a lot.

I suppose it's a personal thing. I don't quite like saying "said", but whatever. I guess I just wanted to share that your speech can differ. Ranging from yelling, to whispering, to inaudible mumbling, back to sarcastic and so on, so forth.

And you've made a good point. Not just should you yourself be doing things (we're alive afterall), but also interact with what others are doing, not just with what they're saying. If someone starts dancing, you might want to join in, feel awkward, or ignore it. Just think what you would do if you were your character in that situation.

Quote from: The Wandering Magus on 2013 Dec 21, 19:20:05
The aristocrat in the tuxedo and top hat (or, well, he appeared to be the leading aristocrat; the ponies, diamond dogs and other creatures were dressed in rather fancy clothing, and those unused to high Canterlot clothing tradition would probably fail to see the subtleties in difference) stepped forward and bowed to Concorde and shook his hoof, as a leader to a leader.  "That I am, good sir.  Welcome to Duchy Fancy, and to its capital, Orod Khazad.  I am quite glad to see that others besides ourselves have survived the Ice Age, Mister...?"

Emissaries came forward and lay gifts of great value in the modern age, and at the same time also in the previous era: an abundance of food and spices, useful and well-forged tools engraved with intricate gold filaments both for a better grip and for beauty, embroidered clothing made of some sort of silk, and quantities of ancient, priceless books from before the Ice.

The soldiers behind them stood at attention; they were wearing traditional full-plate barding, gilded with gold and set with gems to show a triple crown, the symbol of their patron and leader.

"Pear. Concorde Pear." He answered, and gazed upon the gifts laid before him and his companions. Gifts of friendship in an attempt to create an alliance, no doubt, though that was not what Concorde wanted. He turned his head towards the guards behind him, and spoke. "Everyone but the council shall return to The Heart, and continue their jobs. The currently appointed miners shall assist the other miners in the excavation of ores. I will not tolerate anyone in here."
His voice carried far and deep into the tunnel, echoing all the way back to The Passion, where their entrance lay. The guards raised their weaponry, synchronously turned around, then walked forward, pushing anyone who did not follow their pace forward. Soon, all that remained was the council, and the distant sound of steady marching in perfect harmony, like a trained army would march. Concorde kept staring through his part of the tunnel, his back towards Duchy Fancy.

"I see you are as great as the rumors I heard about you told. Unfortunately, I cannot accept any of these gifts" He began, and turned around to face Fancy again. He looked at them for a moment, a hint of greed in his eyes, but he shook it off. "No, it will harm the perfect harmony I've tried to create. They aren't enough for everyone, and the ones that get something will start to feel superior. I cannot allow that."
"But, wise leader Concorde, you may take upon yourself something to show your position within Embers Rising." A buffalo of the council spoke up.
"No, Lightninghooves, I cannot." Concorde responded. The whole council collectively sighed at the stubbornness of their leader.

"But Lord Pants. I see you've upkept the normal way of life within Orod Khazad. That means you must have some sort of research facility? Do you have any idea where this blizzard came from? It can't just happen, right? There must be something! A clue, a lead?" Concorde asked. He and his faction could get by undeground, no problem. But after several decades, with a growing population like this, it might become a problem. And if the blizzard hasn't ended by then, well.. Only time will tell.

At the end of the tunnel, back in The Passion, the miners, construction workers, and engineers have come together to create a gate, much like the one at the front of The Heart, and a booth for guards to be stationed at. Despite being friendly, Embers Rising is an organized place, and will not allow any unauthorized, or filed entrance or exit. This will mean The Passion and The Welcoming will need some sort of instant transmission between them. Or carrier ponies, though that would seem redundant in case only one pony at a time will come through. Perhaps a canister can be shot through a pipe using pressure. The engineers were already thinking over different plans, whilst the miners precisely cut the walls, and the construction workers began creating the mechanism to open and close a gate.
10
"Excellent work, my friends! We're pushing them back! Time to advance!" Majem announced gleefully, then turned himself into water as he curled up the stairs, following closely behind Arty. "Say, Laser. Do you think you could create some sort of ice armour and weapon with me for Bleyd, so that he can assist in fending off the dragons? It would require some more help, since it shouldn't freeze Bleyd in the process, nor unfreeze after getting attacked."

...
One last piece of rock fell away, as the wall dividing the groups crumbled and revealed each side to the other...

As the miners of Embers Rising kept swinging their pickaxes, removing more and more rock, the faint sound of other mining acitivites grew louder. Sound coming from the other side of the wall in front of them. The inhabitants of Embers Rising did not have detection magics, or at the very least did not bother using it just yet. They would only use it at the beginning of their shift, so that they would not run into diamond dogs or other undeground creatures during their excavations.

And then the wall opened up. Rocks finally gave way to open space, not just more rocks. The miners, covered in dirt and sweat stepped back, except for Concorde. In the miners' places stepped forward a group of thirty guards, both pony and buffalo, standing on the defense, but ready to attack, should the other faction prove hostile. Noone said anything, the party just stared at the others.
Concorde turned his head towards his men, then whistled, and caught the towel made of buffalo fur thrown at him in response. He cleaned his face and hooves, then tossed it back and gazed upon the other faction. Their part of the tunnel was simply beautiful, whereas theirs merely had crude, but efficient, pillars and a flattened pavement still covered in bits of gravel, coal, and gemstones; cleaning up was for the end of the shift. Everyone in Embers Rising was a little intimidated by this. Those ponies had the time and numbers to actually decorate their insides, and still come as far as they'd have come? It would seem they were not the superpower they thought they were.

Concorde stepped forward, showing off his leadership simply by doing so. Other than that, he did not have anything to show, and looked very much like all of the miners of Embers Rising. Dirt, coal, and sweat covered his body except for his face and hooves, and all he had on him was the pickaxe he was using moments prior. Yet he had the air and determination one would expect from a faction leader.
"Lord Pants, I presume?" He began, and gave a small bow to the Knighted Aristocrat. "I rejoice to see you kept our brothers of the big towns alive underground. I'm sure many of us have families that lived too far away to come hiding here in time, I can only hope they made it to your hideout." He said, then extended a hoof. "Welcome to Embers Rising."

Behind the guards and miners, who were simply staring at their leader and the other faction they had run into, came forth another group of ponies. The council of this month had been summoned, should politics happen. They weren't sure what to do, noone expected this event to occur, at least not this soon.
12
Always a pleasure.  ^-^
13
"Come on, you bunch of fillies! Richie, you're falling behind. Hurry up, hurry up, according to Pensworth, we should be able to be halfway to where those adventurers told us other ponies are held up. Dubby Fancy, was it?"
"Duchy Fancy, sir."
"Horseapples, Richie! I told you not to call me sir. Now get your flank to work, you're falling behind!"
"Y-Yes, s.. Concorde."

And so, the group of thirty ponies swung their pickaxes at the wall of granite in front of them. Concorde, agreed leader of the faction, joined the miners in their job today, for according to some fancy mathematicians, they'd come halfway across the country today. Stories brought to Embers Rising from outsiders tell of other factions like their own, and Concorde wouldn't want anything other than to meet up. It would only bring good to both parties involved, and if need be, a tunnel is easily defendable and re-shut for good.
With another swing of his pick, a shiny rock was revealed, reflecting the light from the miner's glowstones into his eyes. Concorde dropped his pick and covered his eyes, before pulling the diamond out of the wall, and tossing it behind him. Noone batted an eye at the once precious object, and simply continued swinging their picks, longing for a break, except for Concorde. The green stallion seemed to be fueled by a burning passion, tiring for nothing. His axe would sooner break than his spirit, no doubt. It did boost morale, however, seeing their leader work with them.

Up near the entrance, mares, stallions and kids were saying their goodbyes to the appointed scouts. The large front gates of Embers Rising slowly opened up before them, and the scouting party slipped inside, followed by two supply-carts, and the new guards stationed for The Cold. The previous scouting party quickly rushed inside, followed by the previous group of Cold guards.
Then the gates began move in the other direction, and slowly but surely shut again. Ponies in The Cold sighed, for they were about to undergo the least favourite of duties. Ponies in The Welcoming sighed in relief, having survived another week in The Cold, and being back inside.

Everything was going their usual way. Ponies working tirelessly to keep the faction running, and everyone alive. While their lives were far from perfect, it was the best they could ask for.
14
Why thank you  ^-^
15
And a new faction has shown its banner. Embers Rising is here.
16
"Hey, laser. Feeling up for another icy, spiky attack?" Majem said, and conjured two large blobs of water next to him. He smirkes as he looked over at the other unicorn for a moment, before sending both spheres shooting at the magma dragons.

General Description & Backstory:
Spoiler: The Faction • show
The inhabitants of Appleloosa had to move into the mountains, together with the buffalos of the plains, they now reside within Embers Rising. The buffalos are very praised for their strength and do most of the hard labour, whilst the ponies do the crafting. Both races are stationed as guards, and are trained to their abilities, as well as complementing each others'.

From the outside, the relatively small entrance to Embers Rising is easy to spot, for light continuously shines from the open cave-entrance. Inside lies The Cold. An encampment of hardened soldiers, always equipped with steel armour over their warm clothes. Tents rest around an ever-burning fire, fueled by coal, wood, and molten lava. Several smaller fires are littered around the camp, to keep the stationed guards warm, cherishing the warmth, for they are routined to step outside every once in a while. One large tent has a notable red cross on it. A basic healing station to mend minor injuries and perform first-aid until more advanced healers can come, in case of more fatal injuries.
Behind the camp are large close gates of wood and stone, closing off the rest of the faction. They only open for the cart-pullers, bringing in fresh supplies for the currently stationed "outside" guards. The cart pullers will drop their carts off right outside the gates, and in case guard shifts are over, guards will immediately walk through the gates, after supplies have been brought, to keep the gates closed as much as possible.
At the side of the cave-walls are several "emergency holes". In case they are ever assaulted, a simple sphere, or a pebble even, can be thrown into the hole, and will alert all of Embers Rising.

Behind the front gates lies The Welcoming. A larger and much longer camp than The Cold, with actual houses, beds, comfort, a playground, several blacksmiths, and a training facility. The supplies here are also delivered by cart, but are bountiful, tastier, and of higher quality than the ones intended for The Cold.
Most of The Welcoming's inhabitants are guards that are about to enter their shift in The Cold. The other part are their children, and doctors/surgeons/nurses. Guard duties will never put two parents together, so that one parent will always be there for their child, and so in case The Cold falls, that they will not have lost both parents. A large portion of the ponies capable of advanced healing are held up in here, just in case.
The Welcoming also has their own emergency holes.

At the end of the rather long Welcoming lie elevators leading far down to The Heart. The elevators are only for faster transport of supplies to the upper regions, for there is a tunnel that spirals down, too. The elevators are powered by buffalos. On the way down, cart-pullers will go by hoof. This tunnel can be blown up, to keep invaders out, too.
Once one has walked down the semingly endless downwards tunnel, they are greeted by a large wall, for they would now be in front of The Heart, the capital of Embers Rising. Entering the capital through the iron gates requires either identification papers, or a letter of acceptance from both The Cold and The Welcoming.
Inside, the atmosphere is much warmer, and friendlier. Families of ponies and buffalos can be seen walking amongst the carefully laid pavements, immediately making way for any passing supply-carts. The grid of pavements is lit up by lanterns. Laughter can be heard from children playin around with the toy swords they've been handed, combined with the clattering from actual swords and bucklers from their parents, and the guards. Everyone in Embers Rising is armed with a basic sword, while guards have been given what they exceed at. Be it a spear, a bow, a crossbow, a mace, or a sword. Weapons and training is personalized for optimal fighting capabilities.
At first, one might be confused that there are no shopkeepers, despite the many stalls of edible wares across the capital. Even more so when pony and buffalo alike simply pick whatever they please. But Embers Rising is built upon Family Bonding, and everyone helps each other. They feel money would become a burden, rather than a blessing. On the downside, this means that everyone must work, including the children. Of course, pregnant women and babies do not require work, but children will have to help out as much as they can, it helps to prepare them for what they will have to do later.
All of the work is divided into shifts, everyone will have done everything at some point, though farming will always have a team of experts, it is the most important role in the faction after all.

In each direction lies another "city". When in the center of The Heart, to the South lies The Welcoming, West The Passion, East The Life, and North The Heat.

The Life is the large plot of farmable land, bearing all the food for Embers Rising. Expert Buffalos and Earth Ponies will do their best to create optimal harvest. They take their energy mostly from the warmth the underground magma gives, and the strange crystals on the ceilings. The plants are not what one would find above ground, they are mostly edible mushrooms, but with the help of some talented unicorns, the farmers have managed to plant a decent amount of apple trees and other regular foods.

The Passion is a large coliseum hacked out of the walls, where still precious metals are being mined. It has been rebuilt into a training facility where guards will undergo heavy training, including mining for ores, and given their very unique set of equipment.

The Heat is where the forges are, mostly run by pegasi and unicorns. They use the magma found within the cave to heat precious metal mined also within this part of the faction. Here, the pegasi will create rough platings and weaponry, which will then be fine-tuned and personalized for each guard by the unicorns with a finer eye for detail.

Spoiler: The politics • show
Nowhere can a prison be found within the entire faction. The inhabitants feel that it is a waste of valuable resources to keep a prisoner fed. They will be sent to The Passion where they can lose all their frustration by fighting others, though will be supervised at all times, and have two hours of therapy. If their condition shows no sign of improvement after two weeks, all of Embers Rising will decide on his or her fate.

While each part of the faction has their own "leader", through mutual agreement, Concorde Pear has been appointed leader of the faction. His quick thinking and handling under pressure has proven time and time again that he is the best choice. One might expect the sherrif, or tribe leader of the buffalos to be, but their expertise in combat made them a better choice to be stationed at The Passion, to train the recruits. Major decisions will be held by every single citizen in the faction, while lesser decisions will be made by Concorde Pear, and the currently appointed members of the council. These members are changed and chosen monthly. They will not be relieved of their duties, but they will have to do less, due to having to get together for debating.

Spoiler: The jobs • show
Unless appointed expert in your field, your duty inside Embers Rising will vary weekly. You will be working with the same ponies and buffalos during the different jobs for one cycle, to create a strong bond. One cycle exists of Miner, Blacksmith assistant, Doctor's assistant, Farm assistant, Training session, Scouting Party, Construction Worker, Cart-Puller, and Guard duty (which in turn consists of being stationed in every part of Embers Rising). While everyone is required to train daily, those at Training session will have a much harder training. Every job takes one week, and after every cycle, you are given a new cycle, with new group members (to increase bonding with everyone). One cycle, thus, takes 13 weeks. You may have the same job for two weeks at a time, but never will you be scouting party two times in a row.

The scouting party will go outside of Embers Rising, scouting the outside world, scavenging lost items, finding survivors, and other settlements.

Name: Concorde Pear
Titles: Concorde Pear (No pony or buffalo is viewed as superior.)
Faction: Embers Rising
Species: Earth Pony
Gender: Stallion
Age: 28
Physique: Buff, though less trained than other guards due to his political agenda.
Appearance (image or description): A tall, golden-green Earth Pony with a long neck. His dark brown mane and tail, like everypony's in Embers Rising, is kept very short. He has stubbles on his chin. His eyes are golden.
Cutiemark: A pear cut in half.
Talent: Originally pear-farming. Now, it is Leadership. He has to use his talent of thinking quickly, organizing, and protecting the citizens of Embers Rising. While he is paranoid, many of his defense ideas have been carried out (the emergency holes, the explodable tunnel, and the many guards), some have been denied by the council for being too over the line.
Abilities: Skilled fighter with any weapon; Diplomacy
Background: A member of the large pear family, Concorde lived close to Appleloosa, in a pretty similar kind of town. They all had to flee to the ancients grounds of the buffalos. A cave-system said to be the place to hide should the world ever end, and they were right. It was bountiful of ores, and strange illuminating crystals brought forth a wide variety of unknown, but very nutritious mushrooms. Thanks to careful unicorn magic, the light these crystals bring forth made it possible for other plants to survive the underground environment, too. Including the well-desired apples for pies.

Koalemos had his eyes closed, feeling so very more relaxed during their trip to Avalon, for he did not expect to be there so soon. A three day walk, he said? It really was much faster this way.. Sadly.

A sigh escaped his mouth. He liked riding on the Guru's back a lot, now he'd be put back into this world that is so very dark, despite his best efforts to keep it fun. Koalemos let go of the diamond dog, and as he opened his eyes, and took another breath, he froze to the floor, and his jaw dropped.
The smells, the sights, the sounds, the feelings. It was all so perfect. Everything, literally everything was beautiful. From the green grass, to the clear waters, to the most wonderful of songs he'd ever heard birds singing. Even those strange brown, green things standing here and there felt so very familiar and right, as if he'd always known what they are, but just never got to see one. Those were trees. Those were the things his family spoke of, the things Discord took from them.

All those beautiful sensations overwhelmed the poor pony, he could not contain his happiness and took off like a bullet. Never having experienced this joy, Koalemos did not know what to do, and decided to just roll around in the grass. The gentle feeling of the soft, green blades tickling his body as he rolled around made him even happier than he already was. Koalemos began to laugh a genuine laughter, he couldn't stop, this joy was too much at once. It felt so right. Why would anyone want this to be gone?

But then he stopped rolling and instead just lay there in the grass, tears streaming down his face, happy tears. He was enjoying the sensations, for even he knew they would not last long.
"I'm *sniff* I'm sorry Guru. *sniff* It's just *sniff* Too much. *sniff* It's too much." He explained.
19
Koalemos clinged to the diamond dog's back, afraid of what they were about to do. He did not notice the ground being swept away by the diamond arms, flowing around them as the Guru swam through. Instead, he let the noises wash over him and calm him down, like the soothing sounds of trickling water. There was that tingling sensation again. Koalemos wouldn't mind if their trip to Avalon lasted forever. Despite the somewhat uncomfortable position he was in, he could spend a lifetime like this.
"So, how long until we reach Avalon?" Koalemos asked, wondering how long he'll be able to spend underground.. In-ground? Swimming through the ground on the Guru's back. An experience few non-diamond dogs have had, most likely.
20
"Right." He said determined, and went to position himself on the Diamond Dog's back. How they would 'swim through the ground' was a mystery to Koalemos. He was excited to see what that meant.
