Title: Stuff you're proud of
Post by: Ramisha on 2014 Mar 24, 07:21:18
Here you can post stuff you've done and you're proud of them. it's just a bragging thread

Post something you've done recently and you're pretty happy with it or something random from the past if you haven't done anything notable these days.

I've made 3 storybooks when I was 10, 11 and 12, they were lame but hey I've won the competition and they were published
I can't find the first one, but it was about a family of owls and stuff.

Woah! That's awesome Ramisha!

I was singing with an immense amount of passion a couple of days ago, and it was so good that our guests thought my singing was part of the song! They were pleasantly surprised when they found out it was me! 0:)

My voice is changing and the choir teacher has began to learn my range and kinda fits the music cx

And now I don't have to try and hit notes I can't.

I kinda went overboard with Photoshop and accidentally created one of my best pieces of art yet. Mainly because I know I am a horrible artist so I barely pick up a pencil to draw with. What once was my friend's face, now looks like some unholy abomination.

I've taught myself to play the trumpet, guitar, and piano fairly well (though I've got a ways to go on the piano until I can play two-handed).
Funny story about the trumpet part - I was originally a third-chair trumpet for years in my school band, and while I wasn't happy about that, I didn't do much about it. Then, just a couple years ago, we had a piece with a trumpet solo, one which our first-chair trumpets couldn't play. So, I learned glanced at their music once or twice to learn the basic note structure, then learned to play it by ear. Then, I belted it out during a practice session, surprised everyone, and earned myself a round of applause. Not content with that, I memorized the entire first-chair trumpet part for the entire concert lineup and backed them up - we were a pretty weak section.
The next year, I became the trumpet section leader, and helped lead the band to its first county-wide band festival victory - with perfect scores, no less - and subsequent state-wide festival appearance in over a decade. And it could only have been better if I graduated right after that...
Oh! Right, I did! Heck of a way to end a school band career, if you ask me.
_________

I also taught myself some basic visual, graphic art with Paint.NET, some XML (that's a kind of code) and Lua (another kind of code), and made myself a Civilization V mod. It adds another playable Civilization, inspired by Fire Emblem: Awakening.
Here's its Steam Workshop page!
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=214173085
It's still not completely done, since the only thing that needs doing is complicated 3D modelling, but over 1,000 people have downloaded it and they say it's pretty okay. I also followed it up with a religion and am making another Civ to go along with it.

I'd be prouder of more things if a critical friend of mine wasn't so intent on picking out the flaws in my creative works, which is, incidentally, the main reason I don't create things anymore.

I hope I didn't go overboard with this I don't want to sound conceited

I don't think it's overboard....anything you teach yourself, especially things like art and music, you should be proud of.
I remember being 1st trumpet back in high school instrumental music too, that was fun and I miss my trumpet....

Besides that I'm not really proud of alot of things I do....

This evening's homemade hamburger.

Mushrooms and onion chopped up and mixed with the paddy, introduced to steak sauce while cooking up. Left to stew in the left-over mushrooms and onion cuttings to caramelize and sweeten. When done, tore up a slice of mozarella and threw that on top.

Cooked at a low to mid-range heat over the stove. Cooked even and slow. Topped with BBQ sauce and tossed onto a bun.

Even the slightly blackened remnants of the mushrooms weren't bad as a sort of finger food. Buttery and sweet from the onion.

Es gut. Sehr gut.

Can't say I'm proud of my gaming achievements. The most major ones I can think of right now are boss battles from Kirby's Dream Land 3, Kirby 64, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl (on Intense with Fox, Ness, Lucas, Wario, and Ganondorf).

See? Those are some things to be proud of. I can't vouch for the difficulty of them, having never played any of those games, but I know bosses are meant to be tough, and Intense is the highest difficulty in Brawl - and you beat the Subspace Emissary (I assume) on that difficulty five different times with five different characters. Give yourself some credit; that's a real achievement, I'd say.

Eh. Close enough. It's more of a boss rush mode (Boss battles) than Subspace Emissary (Adventure Mode). Dodging the final boss's instant KO attack still throws me off.

All of you guys have really neat stories :D I guess I'll drop in for a sec and share what I'm proud of. My friend and I have a few silly machinimas created for school projects and 'personal giggles'. Meaning we don't necessarily make them to get tons of views and fans and what-not, just for fun. Although, getting more experienced in the whole thing I think it's safe to say I've made the latest installments a bit more approachable to outsiders, which is what i am attempting to create for the season 2 release of our original series, which you can find the trailer for here:

Taking all the pre-Sandman fighters in the World Circuit down without a single loss on Punch-Out!! Wii.
Actually, only having one single loss in my entire record so far. Piston Hondo got me once... I wasn't happy.

Also, turning around a failing grade in a class within just two days of hard work and catching up past-due assignments - on the instructor's permission - and coming back to pass the course. And impressing the teacher with my work ethic and ability to do what I had done, as well as being the only student of his who had ever done that.

I beat Mr. Sandman today in Punch-Out!!, and became the World Champ. Not an easy feat. He's fast and strong, almost impossibly so.

And then, in a moment of not-proud, I promptly lost my title to Glass Joe.

Yes, people who are familiar with what I'm talking about, that Glass Joe. (People who aren't familiar, you can look him up on the internet. And Sandman, too. And Punch-Out!! as a whole, actually.)

Title Defense is no joke.

(I got it back in a moment of re-proud, though.)

Man, I've really wanted to buckle down and get punch out for the wii for awhile now! It looks like a lot of fun!

Title: Re: Stuff you're proud of

I'm currently at World Circuit Bald Bull in the NES game, and TD Bear Hugger on the Wii.
Which leads to another Wii Punch-Out related proud-of moment: TKOing Contender Popinski and Bald Bull in Round One. And getting this really cool-looking Star Punch on Mr. Sandman - Sandman was doing one of his haymaker jabs right when I pressed the button, so the game showed Mac ducking the punch in slow motion. Sandman's fist looked like it was going to go through the screen, and then Mac unleashed the punch. It was awesome.
Lost the match, though. That was disappointing.

And, fun fact for Wii Punch-Out: It's almost its fifth birthday! It came out on the 18th in 2009. Perfect time to get it, I think.

Spoiler: show
(http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/140/c/3/catfish_on_bed_of_rice_by_aaronmk-d7j49u4.png)

I was trying to make blackened catfish. Reviewing the recipe and comments though revealed it'd smoke up the house a lot (though the smoke reportedly smells awesome). But because it'd smoke the kitchen to all manners of smokiness my Mom wasn't going to have it done by the book: on a cast iron skillet over the stove. So it needed to be modifier for the barbecue grill.

After the ten minutes it was recommended for I pulled it off the grill and unwrapped it from its tinfoil. To find it wasn't blackened as desired.

In any case, it was still good and was served between myself, my Mom, and my brother to a general consensus of approval. And it was good, if salty: should have skimped some salt.

In all. 10/10 home made dinner, would cook again (in a different way). And would need something from the bottle to compliment it.

I also would have liked to prepare this to blasting New Orleans Jazz and Dr John for atmospheric purposes. But it was a duel between me blaring it out of my computer in my room and my sister wanting to listen to her current Top 50 and this week's top country on the radio.

It was good.

Enough so I may make it again, since it was implied I should once certain conditions are met. Like summer comes in force so when it's made the hopefully proper way we can open the windows and keep the house from being filled with smoke. Or if when we find a cast-iron pan we don't care too much about.

I get the feeling that other ponies don't really know much about Punch-Out!! or my achievements in it, but I'll say one more thing about it (and I promise it will be the last, at least in a while).

I completed Career Mode. Defeated everyone up through Title Defense Mr. Sandman, then fought through Mac's Last Stand, and unlocked the coveted Champion's Mode in the process, before finally retiring with a 36-17 record. I'm the only one among the regulars in my school's rec room - where I played the game, along with the Wii that has my savegame - to make it through the whole game, and am undoubtedly the best among them.
I'm a real champion, there's no question about that. Now, once someone brings a second Wiimote, we'll see who has the courage to face me in Head-to-Head...

In non-Punch-Out!! proudness, I'm taking an art class and am doing some "awesome things", as my teacher says. They're just basic things, smooth shading and form, but they look great for a guy who could barely draw anything just three weeks earlier.

Completing the National Pokédex. Something I haven't done since Gold version.
Gawd, full 3D model versions for the win, baby.

I'm rather impressed with how much better and better I'm getting with backgrounds and details, as well as shading. Though I still say to myself that I still need a lot more practice. I still see others who finish much quicker, and also use way less layers than I do...

And I don't always get freetime, so it's super fun working on these fun artsy-things. Even if I still don't get a lot of recognition. Nothing can truly stop me. B)

I have to admit, for me it was joining Mensa six years ago.  Still incredibly proud of that, as it let me get into a very prestigious college and formed the basis for my favorite (and only) OC, Checkmate.

This was about two years ago, but I still feel really good about it: beating cancer.
I had (not sure about the spelling) lymphoblastic leukemia for three years, and because it got me as I hit puberty, it kinda wreaked havoc; I'm still slightly overweight now, plus it did a number on my psyche and social skills. Blood tests every week (and I'm scared of needles), and tablets every evening for three years. (On Wednesdays it was fifteen in one sitting.)
Now though, it's behind me, and I can continue on my dream of being a YouTuber.

...Sorry for getting so personal.  ^-^

My tumblr got a follower, and I made an art for that.
The picture I drew was initially sketched out digitally in GIMP, before being vectored in Inkscape.
It took several hours - mostly because I was still figuring out how to vector sketches.
You can see it by clicking the link in my sig.

I'm going to try going for a more art-y visual style next. Wish me luck!

I found a drawing I made a few months ago and it looks awesome, I didn't even realize it until now. And I made 2 really good pony and dragon designs.
Here is the dragon.

It's nothing special but all my other dragons were all so similar. I'm glad I managed to do something different...

5? It is 4? 4th is kind of useless now since it is to the right of me. The tv is hooked up to it to watch movies if it counts.

And why? Besides being able to have tons of programs open at once and never having to minimize and putting an unlimited amount of icons on it?

like this?

Oh god. That is a pretty impressive accumulation of stuff, but you might want to toss out the trash and put the clothes somewhere else than the floor. It's not really hygienic.
