Downloaded game but cant get it to play

So here is the deal, i downloaded the windows version of the game straight off the main site. i get it to completely download and then when i go into my folder to run it, its some weird .7z file that my super fancy windows 8 gateway laptop cant read. did i download the wrong file or something? i dont know what to do and i really want to play this game!!!! please help before i go insane!

The 7z file is a compressed archive, extract the contents of the file with an extraction progran like WinRAR.

how do i get an extraction program i dont think i have one.

You can download winrar for free(or the evaluation version anyways).  I used that to extract it.
