Title: Assassin's Creed
Post by: Night Pony on 2012 Jul 01, 17:37:31
So i noticed a lack of a general AC thread so I am making one.
Post everything from original trailers and gameplay to fan made content or just comment about the games.

I will start off with this awesome song by Miracle of sound.

I love the Assassin's Creed series. <3 You know that there are now also movies and comics of AC, too? I think they're made by Ubisoft. They're official canon of the AC universe.

I have one of the movies, Lineage. It was on sale at GameStop, so I was like "Booyah! Gimme!" It's kind of like a live-action prologue for AC2. o_O But it follows um... Giovanni. Ezio's dad. I think the end of the movie connects to a part in the AC2 game, when young Ezio asks his father what a banker (Giovanni) is doing leaving in the middle of the night all the time.

Also, I have Signature Edition of Assassin's Creed: Revelations, which I haven't played yet. Signature Edition comes with a code for you to use to download the game's sound track and an animated short film Assassin's Creed: Embers.

Meh, not as awesome as the official trailer.
Spoiler: show

I love how he says "They speak of liberty and justice. But for who?" And I freakin' love the music!

Also, that trailer is a lot more family friendly than the Assassin's Creed: Lineage movie. I swear, man. I wasn't expecting that. o_O Like I said, Lineage is live-action. And Giovanni fights and assassinates people, but it's more realistic than the games. I would honestly suggest that you probably not watch it with kids, since they used really really good special effects, and they do quite show the injuries and such in Lineage.

Should be able to find it at GameStop if there is GameStop where you are. ^-^ I was surprised to find out there's no GameStop in England. Or at least, my English friend says so. English people must get their special pre-order editions from some other store, then. I mean, people in England get extra stuff in some games for pre-ordering from a certain store, right? Pre-ordering AC: Revelations from GameStop got people Signature Edition of it.

Though, honestly, I didn't even pre-order Revelations. :P My mom went to GameStop to get it for me for Christmas. She picked up the first brand new one she saw instead of getting a used one, and it turned out to be Signature Edition. We sometimes have some pretty awesome luck with GameStop. After all, the only reason we have Collector's Edition of Skyrim is because one of the GameStops in our town had some left over and took $50 off the price. lol

And hey, the only reason I got into the AC series is because I saw a brand new AC2 on sale 50% off at GameStop. I asked my mom's friend Amanda about it, and she said I'd love it.

Assassin Creed. I'm not going to lie I love that game. I get confuse with the story a little but that ok. I can't wait for Assassin Creed 3 comes out. Me and my friend requested days off from work and were going to hang out at Game Stop a day before the game comes out.

Beware, the first AC can be kinda glitchy. x3 They fixed the problems in AC2. Hey, even the characters in AC2 tell you that the interface has been improved.

AC glitched on me during the tutorial where your suppose to beat the person shouting rants for info. He wasn't giving up so I started punching him around town and after a minute of hitting him, a clone of the guy spawned in where he was standing originally.

There was literally two of him  :I

Huh. Is it just gonna be another of those little direct-to-DVD more-of-the-lore movies? I honestly hope there won't be an actual Hollywood movie following the games. I'd never get to see it in theaters because certain people around here would probably protest it like they protested the Golden Compass.

After all, part of the story might be taken as "offensive" to the easily-offended individuals here in the Bible Belt. :l

I heard rumors, and rumors of rumors. o_O I wasn't sure if I should believe them.

1. Oh meh glob, dual wielding! :3 No wai!
2. Since Ubisoft said 3 was our last game with Desmond, I have to assume that whoever's reliving the memories of this pirate isn't Desmond. Who, then? And why?
3. Pirates? This means more naval battle, doesn't it? Why do they keep leaning more toward naval battle and less toward actual assassinating?
Title: Re: Assassin's Creed
Post by: Night Pony on 2013 Mar 05, 13:06:28
As I've heard the new protagonist is Edward Kenway, father of Haythem Kenway. It is based during the golden age of piracy around the Caribbean I think.  There will be modern setting but as I've heard you play as yourself (hoping for a character creator but doubt it). As the trailer shows there will be naval battles(which is a + IMO) probably there will be still assassinations (as seen) and there will be underwater action. o_O
Also dual wielding was introduced in AC3  =P but I hope they let us dual wield same weapons like in the trailer.
Title: Re: Assassin's Creed
Post by: Chishio Kunrin on 2013 Mar 05, 13:08:28
Ah, I haven't played AC3 yet. But dual wielding same weapons can be cooler than dual wielding two different weapons.
Also, I'm not a big fan of the naval battles. X3
Title: Re: Assassin's Creed
Post by: Night Pony on 2013 Mar 05, 13:11:20
Well you can't dual wield sword and axe for example but you can have bow with one button and axe with another. Also naval battles are extremely well done and the Templars have taken to the waters so you won't be firing at any random ship. The annoying thing about the naval battles is the full sync that you have on some missions (the 'shoot the gunpowder barrels' annoyed me since they are hard to expose).

That is not a dual wielding but just having two weapons assinged to two diffrent buttons (not that you can use bow and axe at the same time). The only dual wielding weapons in AC3 are guns that you can fire at two enemy's at once before reloading.

As for Desmond he ended up in animus in revelations to be kept alive so if AC4 will be using his dna Ubi will find a way to magically hook him up to continue, or it might just take action before the AC3
Title: Re: Assassin's Creed
Post by: Night Pony on 2013 Mar 05, 13:32:43
Actually the only dual wielding that I used and therefore know is axe and hidden blade but that's pretty standard since you can't use the axe without the blade.

Desmond's story has finished in AC3 and Desmond is done (I won't spoil the ending). Essentially what I've learned from trailers and such is that you are working for Abstergo and they pulled a file on Desmond or something like that so you play as his relative.

Title: Re: Assassin's Creed

I'm a fan of the AC games, but my general opinion is that since AC1, specially in the AC3, the assassination phases are very careless from the developers.

AC3 was, from my opinion, the least interesting game of the saga, If i talk about the ending of "Assassins creed 3",  it was really bad... but not only the ending, the whole story line is loose compared with other franchise titles, and the assassinations phases are just annoying and and unimaginative, which really hurted me as an original AC fan  :c

The only thing that was well developed and was actually curious and even funny, was the new and awesome Naval system. I just played the game after beat the story just for that, i got lots of fun sailing my boat trought the waves and sinking other's ships just like a real pirate captain  :D

So i think this new game is just an "expansion" of that naval system, most surely they improved the system and want to make it the main feature this time, which makes me be afraid again about the actual "assassin" experience (This is AC, not Pirates of the caribeann Ubisoft :/ ), i can be wrong, but i think there are lots of chances that this game is going to show the exact same lack on originality in the assassination phases that the other 3 last ACs (Yeah, i still liked the first AC2 lots :) ).

It's just my opinion thought, i can be wrong with my subjective valoration of the saga, but it's the impression it left in me after re-playing all the games recently for the launch of AC3  X3

PD: Did i mention that i loved killing other ppl in the online multiplayer?, because i really do  ovO

I loved AC2. So far, it's my favorite out of the series. I've seen the story of Revelations but haven't played AC3 yet. Brotherhood was pretty good, as well, but AC2 was still more amazing.

And yeah, I'm wondering about the fact that they seem to be focusing so much on the naval battle stuff. :c Hopefully they don't let that take away from the assassin stuff in AC4.

There may be some truth to the conspiracy theory that makes up the game's main plot.

Here's Mansa Musa; by far the richest man in human history who died with a net worth of 400 billion USD. By comparison, the richest man today is Carlos Sim, worth 'only' 73 billion USD.

How did he earn his great fortune, I wonder.  O:

Certainly looks interesting, even more interesting than AC3. I like that there are lots of islands to explore. That was one of the things that made LoZ: Wind Waker fun, that kind of open world with so many other places to discover and explore. The underwater thing is kind of new to AC, so that interests me too. However, thus far, I haven't been too keen on the naval battle aspect of the AC games. It may be something I'll have to get used to and practice.

Does anyone remember in Brotherhood, the mission where you have to destroy the blueprint for one of da Vinci's war machines? The required mission, I mean.

I think it required you to not be spotted, and if you wanted full synch, you didn't kill any guards.
It took me a while to complete that one. I ended up consulting my guidebook for the first time for it, and I thought it was crazy at a few points, but it was right. Like, when it told me to simply walk across an intersection, even though there were guards down the path to my right.
I was like "Are you crazy?! O: ... Okay. I'll do it. >.< *Does it* ... :I How did that work?"

You wanna know the craziest thing about it, though?
Tobuscus did it in less than 10 minutes on his first try without looking up help, and he got full synch on it. He's usually so bad at most video games, especially ones like Assassin's Creed. But then again, if there's one thing you learn from his Portal 2 LP, it's that he's bad at the simple stuff and good at the difficult stuff.

I do remember that I hated the part in Brotherhood where you sneak into a party, and to get full synch, you had to kill the guy from a bench using the hidden blade. I got desynched on that one so many times.

I think I ended up saying "Screw it, I'm gonna get to that cliff over there undetected, hang off the wall over the cliff, and scoot my way over to the nearest bench."

I'm mostly scared because I live in the ___ Belt. :l You know. The place where people overreact to some of the most random things sometimes.

People in my city won't let there be a Joe's Crab Shack because they hate the shirts that the restaurant sells. Doesn't stop the shirts from being here anyway, though. People in the Belt also freaked out over The Golden Compass or something?

Anyway, ever since I unlocked The Truth video in AC2, I decided that a movie of the game in this area would probably be a bad idea if people found out that the base of the series' lore is.

Dunno where the Belt is. I can assume it's in the USA (since I'm under the impression that you're from the US. Sorry if that's not the case). But yeah people will always find something to overreact. Be it grown ups liking ponies, Derpy being edited, Twi getting a pair of wings and so forth.

Buuut the movie is during the first game so it should not include anything from that lore. If they don't change the story to include it that is.  :I

Though I doubt the movie/s will do well, maybe the first one could do well just for the fact that usually movies have to try and explain things that 10+ hour games explain in 1.5-2.5 hours
With the first one had alot of repeating things so maybe they could do well with the story

If they ever tried to make others I could see problems just for that fact above, they have limited time to explain and much larger picture

btw I live in the Fun Belt :D

Yeah, I live in the US. More specifically, I live in Texas, which is part of the um... *ahem* Bible Belt. Where we have a larger concentration of people who get needlessly angry about things they consider immoral or blasphemous, even if it's something tiny like a Joe's Crab Shack shirt that says "My waitress gave me crabs ... at Joe's Crab Shack!"

My favorite is Altair (well I've only played the first part but from what I've read, Altair is a true mysterious Assassin while Ezio is overpowered and everyone hates Connor...  >.< )

Wow this got revived.  :P

Anyway Altair is my favourite followed by Ezio, Connor is my least favourite because I do not know. Maybe because some of his lines were not good or his character wasn't well/enough developed. Though Edward is looking pretty good and will probably rank up above Connor. :D

People love suave characters. :] They don't necessarily have to be ladies men. As long as they're cool and suave.

I think Edward will be the best. He fights sharks and has a boat and he can ACTUALLY HIDE.

Do you realize we've never actually seen Altair without his hood?

I think Assassin's Creed is the perfect game for me.
I've always wanted to b a spy/secret agent when I was a kid, and now this talk of assassins... Wow!
When I got the first game I almost exploded from happiness. I literally jumped around from happiness.
But in my opinion they never should have introduced Desmond and the modern templars. They should have just let us control the ancient assassins, without the confusion.
Oh, and I really don't like it
Spoiler: show
how they killed Desmond... Why? >A< it's so sad... I never really liked him.. but they should have at least let him have some kids so the Assassin legacy continues.

Oh, also, I wanna know, why did you buy the game? What brought you to it?

Because he's a bad pony and cant be developed any further (sound familiar? :p)

I played it cause my brother played it. Funny enough, AC1 is one of the reasons why my brother hates the xbox. He played the ezio arc a lot, barely touched one mission on Haytham before (almost) throwing AC3 out the window, and turned into a hermit when playing AC4.

I was on a roll after playing [PROTOTYPE] and Darksiders (which both had hooded protagonists) and I've already heard about Assassin's creed so I decided to try it.

I dislike pointless collectables, so I collected only some of them. :P

With any game with collectables, I'm super motivated at the start "Right, i'm going to collect them all, and THIS time I defiantly will" Then towards the end i just want to finish the game :p

I got to 50 feathers today. I also got Altair's armor. t's really awesome.
And I meant 100 real feathers.
It's not gonna be a problem like in the game because you know... feathers everywhere

oh also

Image conflicts with rules 7.d & 7.e and has been removed since it contains blood and use of weapon. For reference please see the rules :

I just played AC4 in my PS4 and i rushed it untill the end of the game (coz i just want to see how the story goes on) and men, am I the only one noticing that this story is just getting weirder and nosense?  o.O

AC4 has almost no meta story development, you just play a generic pirate videogame with some Abstergo wandering interludes that just show some actual story development for around 3 minutes almost in the final part of the game, I dno't know i felt like nothing has changed at all since AC3 when i finished the game  :I

One thing i liked anyways was that i was able to perform more "stealth" assasinations than in AC3, coz they lowered the IA of the enemies and make them practically blind XD, but i'd like to see a bit more interaction with the naval system on this game, i thought they will allow you to cutomize more your ship and make the whole system more deep, with more options for the crew, or more possibilities to exploit the ships you get from piracy and I don't know, maybe something more like the "Pirates of the caribean" PC videogame, it could have been cooler with more additions on that particular aspect (since the whole game is about pirates and sea you know XD).

I hope Ubisoft will stop this "Rushing 1 AC per year" policy and they develope some quality material for the next entry of the saga, because i just don't want to see this die as 343 did with Halo :c
