I had actually been randomly linked to the pilot episode not long after it aired but at the time didn't find it that immediately impressive and I went back to whatever I'd been doing. Well, come around the June after I'd been seeing pony avatars around and such and figured might as well give it a real try. Got through the pilot, it wasn't too bad so decided to start on the other episodes. My free time the next 2 days was almost nothing but marathoning season 1. I was dealing with depression and some big disappointments at the time so it really helped put some positive light into life.

Then I found the fan stuff. Came across Night of Pony and it was awesome. Soon after stumbled across my first fanfic The Circle of Friends and there was no stopping things after that. I had been a fan of MLP back in the G1 era and been into magical girls anime for ages so those kind of barriers were never a thing for me. I liked ponies and if someone had issues with that... meh. I'm not as hardcore into ponies as I was at the start but still a brony for life.

What new things has been added in AppleJack's character development in more recent seasons beside those that we discovored in S1 and S2?

I suppose if you stick to the strict definition of character development then not all that much. Applejack's learned to be a little less stubborn and not so afraid of failure, along with how to remain honest in some tougher situations. We have learned a lot more about her family and interactions with them as well as some of her limits and faults, though I dunno if that actually falls under character development. I'm not exactly a writer.

She's at least getting more screen time though.

I'd say Applejack isn't hated. What you're seeing is just disappointment she hasn't been used more.

That's probably a good summary. Early on Applejack didn't see much character development. Normally bronies are pretty good at "filling in the blanks" for a character (Luna is a good example); with Applejack though, aside from a handful of exaggerated behaviors the fandom apparently didn't find much inspiration for that. She has gotten more attention in later seasons so things are improving but old impressions can take a while to fade.

Much the same thing happened with Princess Celestia. Unfortunately besides a couple scenes in recent seasons that give a little more depth to her character the show still has done very little development. It's kind of devolved into a running joke that she doesn't actually do anything except eat cake.

I have a bad habit of just appearing in communities without introduction.    So here I am. I pop up in games and other places around the Internet under this name (or similar variants) so maybe someone has run into me before. Been following the game for some time and got to play in the February OSW so was really happy to have a weekend free again this time around.

Favorite princess is Celestia. Favorite pony um...probably Big Mac or Sweetie Belle. Maybe both? I don't do the "best pony" thing though. That way lies madness.
