Moon Crystal
I'm not sure how obscure or forgotten this game is but it was a fun game on the famicom.

(I don't think it was ever released outside Japan, other then translation hacks.)

lurk852

Iji. It's a freeware metroidvania that's pretty great all-around. It's short - takes under 3 hours to beat - but has a ton of hidden secrets and other replay value.

I feel bad for seeing that every game posted here has been played by me, a lot of them I consider the best classics and games of their genres. Now I feel I play too much videogames.  :c

Too add something to the thread, these little two gems which the world seems to have forever forgotten:
Ground Control 1

Such awesomeness for strategy gameplay... Friendly fire, improve aiming and defense by taking ground advantage, different defense values for vehicles depending from where the attack comes from, different kind of damage which could be lethal for some units, but innefective for others,... Strategical awesomeness, and not the grinding and brainless use of strategy on Starcraft or Age of Empires.

Ground Control 2

As its predecessor, wonderful graphics and an amazing ost. It had some flaws Ground Control 1 never had, but it added other interesting things as getting infrantry inside buildings to make ambushes from there (yeah, you could even see the sniper hiding behind the window), moving shield generators and turrets who could be controlled if you get a unit there.

And, of course, both of those games had such good graphics that they could be easily one of the best fps in their age. This is not suprising until you realise that there are hundreds of those units moving in the battlefield and that is not a fps game, it is a strategy game.

Sacrifice

A strategy game... which is like a third person action game! Yes, you are a mage who command his units while figth and cast spells on the battlefield. And even, when casting, you can see him saying the magical words for every spell. It was an original game in every aspect, even the units weren't normal.

MDK

Action, action, bullets, action, people getting killed, action, black humor, action, amazing graphics, action... Did I say action?
