The Retirement Home / Interesting Glitch
2015 Jan 26, 17:32:17
I just experienced a curious glitch. A warp glitched, and I gained control of another player's character. I have no idea how this happened, or how repeatable it is.

I logged out, then logged back in to restore my character.

Had an interesting glitch occur in-game, a warp glitched and I gained control of another player's character. I have no idea how it happened or how repeatable it is. I logged out immediately to restore my character upon a fresh login.

Addendum, the Mac client has crashed in this manner the last 3 times. I can't play if the server thinks I'm already playing. :(
7
The Mac client crashes at the oddest times. The worst is while logging in. If it crashes mid-login, next launch the server reports "That user is already playing" which is false.

Being stuck in a sky view of Cantermore for more than 30 minutes until the music grates is not fun. Despite 'wait lists' I never get in.
Being stuck in Cloudopolis, when I want to be in Ponydale is not fun.
Cantermore is a necessary stopover to my destination AFAIK, I don't want to wait hours to get into somewhere I'll spend maybe 30 seconds in.

So far the OSW has been an unenjoyable failure for me.

Still despite this, I understand the problems are not the LoE teams fault. Hopefully this gets fixed before the end of the OSW.

It seems to have frozen trying to load a map. Any way to get it to finish?
10
I could get in, pick my character, but for some reason it tries to load the I-don't-know-it's-name-yet Crystal Empire parallel map. Only it doesn't, it freezes before it actually starts loading, and forces me to exit.

Upon launching the game and trying to login, I am presented with "That user is already playing."

What is going on?
11
Server is full, and Mac client seems to be crashing without cause.

Thanks for the update on the situation. It saddens me that a few rotten apples can ruin the day of so many. With pride we shall stand together to show these people that such attacks will not bring us down.

I'm interested, how many stages does a game run through before it's finished?

Well, there's usually:
1. pre-Alpha
2. Alpha
3. Beta
4. Release Candidate
5. Release

Sometimes it can go as far as:
1. pre-Alpha
2. Private Alpha
3. Public Alpha
4. Private Beta
5. Public Beta
6. Private Release Candidate
7. Public Release Candidate
8. Release

Of course how many stages it goes through is up to the individual developer.

WOW! im so excited, ive yet to get the chance to try the game earlier because i always caught the announcments just i little too late, i cant wait, i hope my computer will run it ok, i have 1 gb of ram, so here's hopin!  X3 :]

Stars, I hope you can too. 1GB of RAM is a little tiny in this day and age (suprising since it was fine back in 2006).

Perhaps it is time for me to tell mine.

It all started with a plush bear. A 'Care Bears' one from the 'Welcome to Care-A-Lot' series. I was really into collecting bears at one point in my life, an extension of a developed habitual need to hold something at night.

Anyway, it didn't matter what style or colour the bear was in, I just got them. This particular 'Care Bears' plush I had acquired came with a DVD. On it were two things, the episode "Show of Shyness" from the 'Care Bears' series, and the episode "Ticket Master" from My Little Pony: Friendship is magic.

For the longest time I left the DVD be, and thought nothing of it. Until the day I got the news I might be an uncle. Then my thoughts shifted to something else. I used to be able to draw fairly well, so I thought that a nice picture might suit as an appropriate gift for the child's room.

Anyway, I began to watch the episodes of both shows, and found them pretty decent, but nothing to say they were my cup of tea, I was more concerned with getting some references for the drawing.

Skip ahead a bit, some time after my niece was born and some unpleasantness I'd rather not get into for personal reasons practically destroys all motivation.

I still wanted to try regardless, as despite it all my thoughts were still with my niece, and wanting to do something nice for her. In a desperate attempt to try to recapture that spark of motivation, I seek out more episodes of the shows.

That didn't have the effect I was hoping. Instead of rekindling my motivation to draw, one of the shows (I'm guessing it's pretty obvious by this point), gets my mind off the unpleasant situation and I find myself liking it by the time I watch the end of "The Return of Harmony".

To my upmost regret, I still haven't been able to draw that picture, and my niece is now two. Still, everything has worked out in it's own way.

Can't wait, should be fun.

I don't know how to respond to this.

1. It's been so long since the initial post that I literally forgot I even made this topic until now.
2. eBay Really? That's your answer? I knew eBay was a thing already, but that isn't an option for me. I don't actually have a proper credit card, so I have to be extra careful when it comes to online purchases.
3. This topic wasn't about me complaining, it was a general inquiry as to what others find difficult to obtain while mentioning my own in the initial post. The title being a question should have been enough of a clue, but no person got that apparently.

Not sure how I'd label myself. I thought I wasn't going to get that into it, but then this happened:

1. I watch the show a fair bit (with the exception of Dragon Quest), unless I have something else to do.

2. I have all of the Australian DVDs I know of, which so far only seem to be Equestria Girls and the series up to the end of season 2. Had to get the American DVD of Season 3 off of Amazon.

3. I've collected some of the toys, cards, books and board games, though my only serious collecting is with the Funko figures. I haven't yet got the most recent 5, because Hot Topic's shipping to Australia is horrid, and they still haven't made it anywhere local yet.

4. I have read much fanfiction (Great, Good, Okay, Bad and Horrible alike), I also have a lot of fan created music. I also pay attention to certain Tumblr blogs and YouTube channels.

5. I repeatedly try to draw, but am constantly left unsatisfied with the quality of my work.

I however have not been to any conventions nor have I met another Brony. If I wear anything pony themed, it's usually just my necklaces because I can hide them when expecting to be in public. Though I've had no trouble yet, I'd rather not take the risk.

Not 100% sure if this is in the right place, but oh well.

I sometimes find it hard to obtain certain things for my collection for one reason or another.

1. A variant of the Rainbow Dash Pop! figure, painted to look metallic. Apparently an exclusive to Gemini Collectibles, who refuse to ship to Australia.

2. The Daring Do, Rarity, Discord, AppleJack and Big Mac Funko figures (as well as anything 'hot topic exclusive'). Not yet easily available anywhere other than Hot Topic, supplies dwindling (or completely out as far as Discord as I no longer see it on their site) shipping to Australia is insultingly high, usually requiring bulk ordering to offset the shipping cost and budgeting specifically for the purchase.
I usually don't have enough extra cash to offset Hot Topic's high shipping cost.

3. The chapter books by G.M. Berrow. Would love to get, but shipping via Amazon totals greater than the cost of the books themselves. I have so far been unable to locate an alternative source.

4. The Comic-Con 2013 Rainbow Dash Funko Figure. I had my chance and missed it. I had both that one and the Derpy one in my virtual shopping cart for Popcultcha, an Australian online retailer good for some of this merchandise. They ran out of the Rainbow Dash one just as I got enough extra cash to be able to make the purchase.
Though I could still get one off of Amazon, it would be at a higher cost.

5. Pony plushes in general. I don't have very good luck finding these. All I want is a decent quality Rainbow Dash, Derpy and/or Sweetie Belle.

6. Sweetie Drops (Bon Bon) from the Series 1 Mystery Minis. It's the only one I'm missing from that set, opened individual ones usually cost more than an unknown blind box, and getting a unopened box may not net me the figure. I may just order a display box for series 2.

Like the topic title says, I am wondering what each of you find hard to obtain.

Not sure if serious... To suggest that I am trolling for posting my opinion only serves to make you look like a troll.

I switched to a Mac in 2006 because my old PC that ran Windows 95 finally stopped working, I only upgraded in early 2013 because most of the apps I used were becoming 64-bit only, ultimately I don't care if a computer is high-end or outdated by several years.

I don't give a flying feather whether I can get 30, 60, 120 or 50,000 fps as it doesn't matter so long as the game runs smoothly. All that those numbers are at the end of the day is bragging rights amongst certain groups of people.

Just as people compare how fast their cars are, there are people who like to compare how 'good' their computer is. So go ahead, parade around your numbers as though there is some importance to them. That is your opinion, and you have every right to it, however you don't have to state it like some ultimate fact and be a jerk to someone with a differing opinion.
