Title: August Open Server Weekend Feedback Thread!
Post by: Ellowee on 2015 Aug 16, 14:08:37
Hey there, everypony! Hope you're enjoying/enjoyed the world of Equestria this weekend!

We're coming towards the end of the open server event now, but there's still time to get in and make friends before we have to take everything offline again. Obviously, though, Legends of Equestria is still a project that's in development; and we've got a ways to go yet before it's completely done. These open server events are super useful to us; not only do they give us a chance to show off what we've been working on and give you time to see and enjoy everything we've spent so much time and effort making for you, we also get to stress test all our systems in the background, to see what falls apart and needs to be duct taped back together.

The most important thing, however, is the feedback we get from you. That tells us how you feel about the new additions to the game, and the game in general - what you think is good, what could be better, what else you'd like to see. Even if you don't have a suggestion but just want to tell us what you think, it's always fantastic to hear from you guys.

So, that's what this thread is for! If you've got anything you want to show or tell us, this is the place to do it. Any suggestions about improvements or additions, any screenshots or videos you want us to see, or just a general message for the team - pop them here, and we'll go over all of it; and with your help, we can make Legends of Equestria the best game we possibly can!

Looking forward to seeing what you all have to say - and thanks once again for another great weekend!

I reckon it could do with having fewer horses in it, myself.

There's something I want to know. I can somewhat use my 360 gamepad and set up some buttons on it, but I can't set up the dual-sticks on it for moving around in this game  :o. Is there by any chance in a future update, you could add that functionality? I really love this game, but I have a hard time just using the keyboard layout. Whatever happens, I really love this game and hope it gets even better when it can!  :D

my biggest thing is the quests in the book - they aren't showing up on the page at all, so i'm getting lost at a few points. i found two of the things for the nurse in Ponydale for example, but i can't remember where the third place is that i'm supposed to ask for supplies.

the only other major thing i could say is, i feel like the areas could use more distinguishable landmarks, or something to make certain points stand out more. now, i fully understand that would probably be a pain to come up with, but you asked for feedback :P for example, navigating the Crystal Kingdom was pretty difficult. it looks good and you guys are doing a great job on this game! but a lot of the streets there just tend to blend together. i've had a lot of problems with this when trying to find certain locations or NPCs in the game during quests. the giant statue in the Heartlands, where the portal to Cloudopolis is, is a perfect example of something that makes something stand out more. i've been having some trouble finding the portal to Ponydale in there, but i know exactly where the portal to Cloudopolis is.

now, i'm also having some trouble mining. there's a quest where a pony asks you to get some gems for her, but i can't figure out how to do that. (i might have just missed something, though), the lighting in certain areas looks a little weird on my OC since he's dark red. i'm not sure if there's actually anything to do about that, though. it's not a big problem. the sky in Evershade tended to glitch up a bit, that's not a big deal, either, but it's probably worth mentioning.

this is my first open server weekend and other than the two major things i mentioned, i'm having a lot of fun with this! definitely looking forward to the next one and great job on this so far! i can barely figure out Stencyl right now, i can't imagine what all went into this.

Sometimes I can Run through buildings, and sometimes I fall through the ground when I leave the roads. A restart always fixes this. :I

Combat Seems a skosh clunky. (maybe a lot of skoshes...) :s
Loading is a lot faster and more likely to actually work this time around. getting in is no longer the hardest part. :D

I notice that all of the Sock designs I have seen are in black and white. any chance of those colors being customizable in the future? 0:)

Signs at night are almost impossible to read. some illumination would be nice.

Amazing as always. A working questbook/quest helper would definitely help out lots.

Wish you guys left the public server online so that we could continue to play, always a sad day when the weekend ends  ono

Anyways super hyped about the next OSW. Just don't stop doing what your doing  ^-^

I don't know if it's lag or what but when I was doing quests and would click to go to the next page or give an answer it wouldn't react until i clicked it over and over. Then sometimes it would fast forward for as many times as I've clicked like it was affected by lag. Made finishing quests take that much longer.

Sometimes zoning would make the whole thing crash but that isn't so terrible.

Some NPCs (Cirrus Stratos & Fire Opal in Cloudpolis ) wouldn't load until i restarted the game.

Making mega jumps by tapping the space bar once was fun.

The quest book wasn't working? Sharing quests should also be an option.

Looooove the new locations. It's fun discovering things yourself instead of being told where to go. But when the full game goes live it might be handy to give coordinates for places/NPCs.

The guards patrolling was cool.

All in all I'm still at the edge of my seat waiting for full release. Keep up the awesome work!!!

You did pretty amazing job out there since the last OSW.
I actually could do something instead of just flying around.
The quest book was a real mess but I somehow managed to complete several quests.
Really looking forward to being able to create a bat pony.  :luna:
Thanks for the great job and praise the sun!  :celestia:

I love it, the Iron armor helmet needs fixed, the enemy AI Needs to be smarter because the best fix you have for that is making them float which deems them invincible. Shadows are so labor intensive on some systems, you need to make an actual sward item, and maybe a shield, you also need to have more cutie marks, specifically a Phoenix one.
I would love for there to be an option to have griffons, dragons, hippogrifs, bat pony, and alicorns, to be character options you can create, and glasses should be an accessory option in the Oc creator.
Also some players might like the ability to change the size of their wings, or horn more noticeably, and more mane style.
Hopefully a griffon stone map is a plain in the future development as well, also lots of pony's wanted more actions and animations,  like a smile, or a frown.
Id love for a there to be a meter to tell me how close I am in exp to the next level, Please animate the rotation of head among X and Y axis, its funny to see a pony spin without moving a singe part of its body, better yet animate the head and legs to move in that manner.
Other than this I love the game, because its playing ponys mlg style.

Thank you!

Only three real problems for me.

1: As is continues to be the case every time that I try and play this game, the controls, weather its the default controls ones that I keymap (on that note, it still won't let me do that on some) some of them never seem to work. Strafing for instance. Game does not acknowledge those keys for me. In addition, you guys have some keys (x) permanently hotkeyed to pull bring me to your website... not something that I want x to do. Ever. I have my own plans for x. Also, it would be really nice if head look was tied in to right click on the mouse. Seems to be the standard for most MMO's that I play that the right mouse key held down lets me look around, not the case here.

2: Interface. I know this is still a work in progress. But half the time the interface doesn't really work for me... at all. Be it chat windows for NPC's (the buttons to try and click next are apparently only 2x2 pixels big) or any of my quest logs (which never showed up) or my spell bar (I only ever was able to make flowers grow, lay down or dance). The interface coupled with the controls not really working for me make it difficult for me to do much of anything in the game other then run town. Which gets... boring after a while. But like I said, I Know this game is still in development so I'm not getting mad about any of the above.

3: The games not super intuitive. Its really hard to tell where or what you're supposed to be doing. I never did make it out of whatever starting town I was in. Even following the signs didn't really seem to lead my anywhere. Not that I was able to quest either. On the hand full of occasions where I did stumble upon a quest giver, they would go tell me to talk to... somepony... but didn't tell me where they were, how to find them... nothing was ever uploaded into my quest log or marked on my map. So basically I had to wander around and maybe I would remember the name of the person who I was supposed to talk to. Which happened... maybe once.

I still love the idea behind this game and I hope to see it in a completed, permanent release sometime in the near future. But for now, its seriously struggling to fufill some basic game functions for me. Every time you've had an open server weekend that I've tried to play, its only been for a couple hours, with most of my time spent attempting to get the controls/interface to work for me enough that I'd be able to do something, only to find that there's not really anything for me to do or at least there's nothing telling me where to go so I can do something, leaving me to wander around the town talking to random NPC's until I get board of that and log out for the weekend. Hope my feedback helps and send me a message if you need further input/feedback/rebuttal/whatever.

This was the first time I have got to try LoE and I am definitely liking how it is shaping up.

There was one or two things I have to comment on though.

While I did get used to flight (kept crashing a lot  :P ), I was not able to get used to the screen tilting so much while turning or rolling for quite a while. A way to stabilize the camera or reduce the amount of tilt while turning and rolling would be nice in the future for those who need it.

It could have just been an error on my PC, but I did notice the minimap bugged while in the Evershade Forest on the outer and inner sections (the arrow would not stop spinning and the minimap itself shown Ponydale instead). It did make navigating the place very hard.

As for suggestions, I would like to see more options when customizing your character, but that one looks like it will be happening anyway (did notice that I could get Lyra's mane even when it wasn't listed). I would like to also have a way of accessing that radio you had set up in SCC as that was cool and it would be nice to use when exploring.

Other than that, I loved my time playing what you all have made and I hope you all continue to make it even better ! :3

Overall a great open server weekend. On my part, there was a little lagging. (hopefully that was only my internet connection.)

The few major stuff that i would like to point out it the quest list/helper. (which i have seen been mentioned.)
Would love to have that up and running.

Quest dialog is a bit annoying...it's ether to fast (skips a few chat boxes for no reason) or to slow, (have to click several times to get going.)
And the ponies that has a quest or an ongoing quest have a different color sign? Would be easier to identify the NPCs and what quest is going on and still undone. And possibly make a few of them easier to find? Had to run around a couple of times in Cantermore just for one pony.
Would also like that the map could show where the quest ponies are (easier to find opinion). So you don't run/fly around like a headless chicken.

The portals was a bit "on/off" on my part, don't know if anyone else did experience that. I had to restart and make a new character 3 times before i would get going to ponyvale. Which was really annoying, and knowing that you have to get to that area because of a quest. :I

And i have nothing more to report on my part. Great to play again..i really have been missing to play it. <3

Thaks for the grate job :D

I've found some problems with the quest: there was hard to find (a lot of NPC ponies have a quest but no ! on it)
But I think you need to do some "tutorial" or starter quest for noobs.
It's a wonderful open-world game, so, it's not easy for a newby to know what to do for start this new adventure...

I can't find them in the quest log. Maybe it was a bug!

I really appreciate if you will improve some type of signal in the map: shops, quests, obiectives....

See you, space ponies  ;)

1. Battle system needs to be adjusted BADLY, or at least, it needs to be made more clear how to fight. In my experiences, I just turned the attack icon green and clicked everywhere, not known what to do exactly. Also, more sound effects would add a TON to the system. Sometimes I seem to get hurt without even realizing it, as only my health goes down. There should be something to signify a hit more, like a punching sound and then maybe some text will fly up in the world around the hurt entity saying -30 HP or something.

2. Chatting is a pain in the neck for me, as I have to force myself to pay attention to see if the ponies I'm talking to are saying anything or not. Perhaps you can instead surround their text in bubbles around their head that makes a noise, that way I know exactly when they send a message so I know to stop looking around the environment and instead look at them.

3. I bought the 100 bit set of socks from a pony in Ponydale and when I put them on in my inventory, they don't show up on my 3D character. This seems to be a bug more than anything.

the points that annoyed me the most were:

-the lab coat still not scale with your size, making it render horribly on bigger ponies
-the goggles and glasses use the hat inventory slot instead of the mask inventory slot, making it impossible to wear glasses/goggles with hats
-the female armor bend with movements, it make it seem like it's made out of cloth and not from metal
-the buttglow, lighting on the butts make for some really odd results
-the quests that broke each others, if you need someone to check the quests lines and conditions of activation to avoid that, i volunteer

also, i miss the inventory glitch that allow you to climb on other ponies, but i guess i can't really complain about a bugfix now, can i?

on the less annoying side:
-if the money drop from mobs could be distribued evenly like the exp between people instead of going in the chest drop, that would be better
-if the emotes could be on their own bar instead of with the battle actions, would be nice
-if, when the pets functions will all work properly, you could add an emote to make them spin like now when you use a non working /pet command like /pet assist, i would appreciate

I think the #1 request I have is for a "nudge" command to get unstuck from furniture, etc.  It can be quite frustrating to get too close to a wardrobe, mixing bowl machine, etc., and get permanently stuck.  Sometimes re-logging and changing one's size will force oneself out of the object.

The improvements and new stuff added into the game are awsome and meeting new peo- ponies (oops, close one X3) was super fun.
And then to top it all off some hide and seek with Ellowee  :3
Thanks for the awsome weekend

You mean u never thought asking on chat... use /stuck

Now with the feedback  0:)

#1 The headsets, would be awesome if u could integrate some sort of light music player like aimp3 to tunne up radios or ur own music library on those headsets

#2 Colorblind mode, I never tell people about this because it's kind of embarrassing (specially in a technicolor world), but had some troubles while creating my pony, ended up randomizing (I still liked the result :D)

#3 Controls: mouse sensitivity, redefine keys, the classics, but found out that the game has some issues when it comes to multimedia keyboards with too many keys.

#4 Clipping houses, some roads and some trees but tbh only noticed without paying attention on the houses

#5 Free look, saw in the controls menu that pressing alt would let u do that, and well it doesn't, but it would be very useful if you guys could copy the Arma2/3 system of free looking (double tap alt and u can free look without pressing any other key, while pressing alt once u could watch around pressing the right mouse button)

#6 Launcher: Needs more info like game version, folder browser (pics), server status, forum link just to name the ones that comes to my mind right now

#7 Fonts: Chat fonts are nice, but found kind of hard to read, it would be cool if players could personalize the fonts type, size and color, including the floating ones above everyone heads

#8 Shadows, maybe this is just me, but whenever I fly I use the shadows to estimate where I am, but even at /time 12 shadows have an angle that goes like 60º away, so basically I've tasted the materials of most places I've flied, luckily fall damage doesn't exist yet  X3

Anyway I've loved this days, best time I had in a long time, thx LoE team

This was my first OSW and it. Was. AWESOME! We broke a lot of "academy records" with those parties and hit 500+ ponies! I met a lot of super nice (and crazy  ovO) ponies and I'm super sad it's almost over.  D: But I'm glad I spent all my time partying with all you crazy ponies lol

Being a pegasus, I tried to land on rooftops and usually fell right through them.  X3

Some minor dialogue glitches, like when I tried to talk to Flan the last two responses turned into blue boxes that I couldn't click. >:O

Just a question, would it be possible to customize clothing items like socks or goggles? 0:)

i second this. it's kind of frustrating to not be able to properly recognize colors when you need it (like character creation. i still don't know if the color of my pony's fur is green or yellow...).

also if i'm not wrong thanks to the time zones, OSW just ended 2 minutes ago. really enjoyed it.

Log book, quest markers (not super specific, like Skyrim, but knowing to go to a general area would be nice), having the world not be in eternal night unless there's a plot I'm not aware of, a main quest line would be nice (kind of got bored aimlessly wandering around), lights on the directional signs perhaps a more intuitive camera (right click or something?). Other than that, cool. I love the idea of this game and it was fun to see my OC interact with the open world. :)

I loved the game a lot. It was my first time playing and it was awesomeeee. I do have to put up some issues though..

First off, when I tried to use my combat it wouldn't do the action until 4-5 minutes after I hit the action I wanted to use. Second, the journal wouldn't tell me anything. It didn't tell me any notes, quests, or notifications I received. Third, I would end up flying through buildings. Fourth, I had a hard time finding where I need to go next for quests. You probably should put in an arrow for the player to follow so they can get to the next destination.  Fifth, I wanted to get a pet but I didn't know how. Apparently you need to do quests. You probably should make an easier way to get pets. Sixth, I was doing a quest where I had to deliver some things to about 4 NPC's. When I went to look for one, he wasn't in his usual spot. And this NPC was in Ponydale and his name is Buck. I couldn't find him on his bridge.

That is all, but I loved playing this weekend and I can't wait till the game's full release. :)

there was a command for that. :P /time followed by a number, from 0 to 24

alright so the OSW is over and i'm pretty sure i got the last message in, at least in Ponydale (see signature!) and the only other things i could really suggest are... stairs. i had a very hard time using them. i dunno if that's just me, or. and i don't know if i mentioned this in the other post (i probably did actually) but i, and some others, noted that the lighting on some of the characters is pretty odd. my OC is dark red, and he appeared almost gray at points.

edit: oh, and a note for copyright reasons: the one NPC in Cloudopolis (can't remember his name, it was only one word though) refers to Cloudopolis as "Cloudsdale".

I absolutely loved this game! I had so much fun! It is a great way to expand role-play/ creativity online for all those who love ponies and want to have their own experience in the pony world. I thought this was such a great thing for the brony community, and the only problems I saw were a few glitches with quests, such as Hullabaloo's headphone/cookie quest. Wayward did not have the necessary dialogue for the mission. I also noticed a few glitches with buildings and balconies in Cantermore and Cloudopolis, a few clipping issues and flying through buildings. This game is beautifully made and I certainly hope the servers open more often until the game's so-called completion. I know it will never be truly complete, but I certainly await the day eagerly when we can play any time we like! I look forward to new lands, more quests, and more options for making OCs! I am being honest when I say that this game is certainly one of the best games I've ever played, including console games.

This Open Server Weekend was a huge improvement from Aprils, I only had 1 or 2 server crash outs this time. Though I did still get quite a few of the bird-eye view freezes. After completing the Headphone and Dog Egg quests I couldn't really find many quests after that to complete besides the 1 fetch quest. The server held very well to the 500 ponies in one area part.

One major issue I noticed is still there, the pony eye colors are extremely dull... even if you choose a bright color, idk if this is because my pony was an import or not.

A few items still clip through the ponies but it is not too distracting. Attempting to jump up onto a table though forward was very difficult due to how fast forward your character goes, thanks for backwards not being as fast

This felt like a finished game.  There was plenty to do and lots to see.  However, I seriously want to see a working friends/party/herd system, and no part of the journal worked for me.  Notifications worked ok, but accepting friend requests was buggy and I would like for that to be more reliable, given that as an RPG meeting friends would be pretty important.  Otherwise, the graphics were great and the game was playable and enjoyable for the most part.  Honestly my favorite thing about the whole experience was simply walking around as a pony doing things in pony places, and you really delivered on that.

Good job folks! This is only my second QSW. I was in an early one many, many moons ago. I could tell much work has been done. This build is much more playable. I noticed I'd get stuck to buildings/walls often. The stuck command helps but it was happening much to often and getting annoying. Also, is there any player help/documentation? If not I'd be happy to volunteer to help write some up.

The emotes bar having click buttons would be nice. I didn't even realize you could scroll through it AFTER the event.

Also, Iron armor helmet clips through the mane.

Some other suggestions:
1)Make a click-guide thing whenever someone first launches the game, explaining to them the GUI. It'll be more helpful than getting the new user go read the wiki.

2)Shopping is bugged. I bought 16 (!!) Pairs of golden boots as I couldn't see them in my inventory.

3)The book thing. While probably useful in the future, it's useless as all the pages are blank. (Other than that 1 friend slot)

4)The friend slot: buggy, very. Adding a new friend seems to remove my precious friend and so on. A way to insta-join your friend's location and instance would be nice too.

6)Map. It is too tiny to be of any use. A way to adjust it's size would be nice. Or get book-map working

7)Dancing. OHGODOITWASFUNIWANTTODANCEMOREEEEE

8)Evershade forest: the sky textures are glitched. Looking at them causes some major weirdness.

Overall, it's an amazing game!

I'd love at least the ability to discard my items on the go instead of having to go all the way back to a vendor pony to sell them once my inventory's full. Like I want to be able to discard items that aren't worth a lot of bits, so i can at least fill the rest of my inventory with items that are worth more before going back to sell them. :u

Also please please PLEASE let us able to scroll through the chat box with the mouse wheel! It's so annoying to scroll up via dragging >.>

Oh and, this is minor, but the cel shading looks really odd on the male pony models... ech

First of all I want to say that you did a great job building a big world, since I even got lost couple of times. So that is a good thing. Now onto complains:

-pony that gives you pet after you finish the quest still had ! over her head, but there was no quest you could take anymore;
-journal does not work. No quests are displaying so you can't follow your progress;
-would be great to add skill explanation on hover or right mouse button;
-Battle need some indications of hits other than visual decrease of hp. Some sound effect maybe or a stun effect.
-night time is too dark to see things. Had to enter /time 8 command.

Pursuiting monsters must be hearable or  visible partially. And very helpful will be shortcut key, what select shortly that monster, what attack you.

Unicorns need that horn light function, what every unicorn can do in cartoon.

And how works "Local" chat?

Helpful may be that type of chatroom, what works only.. in 20 meters of radius like real speaking and shouting. Your text appear only on those ponies chat window, who are inside that radius.

"what else you'd like to see"
HUG EMOTES!!
Sorry that had to pop up in my mind instantly :D
Yeah some sort of combined hug emotes is the only thing this game still needs in my opinion. Other than that... the game is pretty much perfect! I mean sure there's still lags and bugs... but we can overlook that very easily ^^

There were MASSIVE improvements since the previous times, notably way fewer disconnections and lag. And of course, my favorite feature of the game being back, music playback at SCC! AND there were even live gigs, and a lot!! I can't express with words just how much gratitude I feel for that. Hopefully later when the game gets released, DJs could use to hang around in the game at SCC too and it would be wonderful to get the equivalent of real raves and gigs on an everyday basis :D As if this game couldn't become even more of a Heaven for me!

So yeah hug emotes. lol
Like... one players triggers it by right-clicking on a pony and selecting "Hug"... and if that pony is within the radius... then they get a notification popup asking them to confirm... and if they do, then the game takes control over the two players temporarily, and make them do a hug animation with maybe a close-up and a custom camera view...
Please devs, make that happen! And let me know if I can help, I'm a C# dev myself! (applied two times already by the way)

Keep up the great work, you guys rock!!

Loved it though the battle system should really be  turn based. The quest book needs to be implemented as my (and I'm sure everypony else)'s memory is either bad or like to multi task like me. Chatting with NPC's is broken too. After receiving General something's speech I tried to give it to Lietenant Snipe just to be frozen in space and the same thing happen if I tried again. And after I messed up Guizhufe's request for a cherry pie with an apple pie, he refused to take an apple pie so I couldn't complete the quest. Other than that this was the best MLP game I've ever played. Can't wait for more to be made. Also are we getting a release date on the next time it'll be open?

I know it's unlikely you will add it, because I feel I may be a very small minority, but I'd really appreciate an added option to be able to turn off the ability to see clothing items on ponies.
I think ponies look their best without any additions. Still, the hats are nice.
Might also be good to get better screenshots of a pony covered by items.

Well, regardless of that, I still love the game, thank you so much for making such a wonderful experience!  ^-^

Yay for LoE!!

Another great Open Server Weekend on my end, though a few restarts were needed to talk to NPCs. Found it a bit strange that some Ponydale houses could be walked through, while others couldn't. Didn't explore too much of Cantermore, probably should have. Never got around to Cloudopolis. The main interestng thing I found were the guards patroling the towns. Although I couldn't exactly talk to them, but I imagine they'll have dialogue in a future version. The leveling system seemed to work like a charm. I'm not sure if quests give bits as rewards for completing them, general rule of thumb is that they should, but I guess for now they don't till bigger things in-game are out of the way. Didn't get to combat or the Evershade, though from the looks of it, I'm not missing out on much, yet. But overall it was a good time to goof off with existing and new friends and try to navigate wit only a tiny map X3 But I was able to get a video of one of the dance parties.

Still didn't find Fluffle Puff though.

Hm.

All the new features were quite a sight. Every single one was implemented well (albeit there are still some issues new and old in this game). :)

Really awesome that what was mentioned at BabsCon about the experience system turned out to be true. This game's in Alpha now.   :o

This is also the first time I'm not using my ancient Windows XP desktop as it still has problems with the game. Most of those problems were removed after using a non-gaming Windows 8 laptop. I'm surprised as to what can run this game. As a result, this made the gaming experience stable (never got crash logs while playing on this laptop--a first time ever).  :D

Overall, this one was the best Open Server Weekend I have ever played.

Some ideas from prior MMO experience. I haven't read this thread.

Appearance items vs stats.
Given this MMO is a socially focused game rather than PVP, it might be a good idea to get an appearance system in place, where you can wear the stated clothing necessary for combat while still retaining the appearance the player desires. An example of this can be founding Star Wars Galaxies. An alternative to this if the visual que of the armor is still needed, some sort of quick switch for gear would suffice too; allowing ponies to easily reassume their non-combat decoration when not in combat, but switch into their armor when necessary. (This transition could even be triggered on the fly by combat, and be a toggleable option)

Graphics...
Thank you for adding a cast shadow system! It really helps to ground the world, and it looks better. My only comment on it is it might look cool/better if light sources in the world also caused shadow casting. Such as the lantern a pony can hold and the lights in towns.

Also, there's a weird bug happening I presume with light maps? (IDK, im not much of a game dev) It's showing up as large shaded spots in the over world and they flutter about when in motion. you can see it in the image below.
i've been seeing this sense you transitioned to Unity 5.

Social/Chat
auto firing emots could be a fun thing too, it will help liven up the visual cues from chats if everyone's making little animations instead of idling the same. this was a huge boon for RP back when i used to play other MMO's.

Chat "bubbles" still go off screen when they are long. might want to add a wrap point to them, it will help with legibility tremendously.

lastly...
Thank you for making this game! I've been enjoying what little time in it i do get!

First of all: This game is awesome! You guys did an amazing job already, and I am sooo looking forward to the next osw! :D

All the stuff I noticed has already been said, except for one thing:
I don't know what it was, but I was not able to travel from anywhere to Ponydale. Everytime I tried
my game crashed. No idea if it was just my computer or the game, but because of this I was not able
to do a lot of stuff.. :c

And there is only one suggestion I have right now:
Could you make the pets move faster? I know it might look strange with their animation and stuff, but
I think it would be great to have your pet always by your side ^-^

Now let's get the feedback going
first off, the Pros:
- combat system slight improvement over the past few OSWs (all the attacks work and inclusion of heals for everypony was a nice touch (I'm sure there will be character classes in the future to remedy who plays what with whatever race))
- a few new quests were added (at least I found a new one in crystal kingdom
- crystal kingdom actually HAS PONIES!
- new leveling system
- stats display in the inventory screen
- current player levels displayed below other player's names
- MY OC ROSE PETAL LIVES (well, I was able to build her back up anyways with no issues)

Now for a few of the cons:
- quests can be confusing still, and not all of them had ! quest markers like they should
- the loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong quest lines can be a hassle for new players not being able to find the NPC's location (thankfully, I've been here since before they had to change the names due to Hasbro saying not to use the real places)
- system messages for leveling up spam floods chat
- friends system doesn't display every friend you add
- quests still don't have the objectives written in the quest log
- still can't equip nurse's cap
- some of the mane models still have a clipping issue where it doesn't solidify and gaps depending on the style (the twin pig tails for example of which I will point out in a picture I will soon post.
- going from area to area and having to wait for the system to attempt to move you into the next available spot issue has returned without the option to cancel the load and return to the screen, forcing alt+f4 closure for full screen users
- combat system is still clunky

here's the hair issues I mentioned before
All in all, the game keeps getting better with every open server

I loved the game, though, there were flying timberwolves, it was hard to find a NPC, and the fighting was a little boring. But I can't wait for the lamp  ovO  I wish there were jobs, like gathering and crafting like Aion  D: ...Or being a guard  DD: But still, the game is amazing, so many changes and it was fun playing and meeting people.

Looking forward to seeing what you all have to say - and thanks once again for another great weekend!

could also develop a tracking system to find horses for quest because i get tired running around looking for poeple for a quest

This OSE came out amazing! Thank you to all the LoE crew! And I don't want the next OSE to be in a short time. Why? Because I don't think I can handle this amount of fun once again in a month or two ^-^

Of course, there were some issues this time too, like several bird-eye view freezes, no indication of how far you are from levelup, glitchy shadows sometimes,
Spoiler: show
(http://i.imgur.com/rD5R6N1.png)

an overcrowded global chat... But all of them are bearable. And the ones that are not beareble are already in a bugs reports section.

But everything else was great! Armor, guards, new areas, shadows in general, new inventory interface and item tooltips. And socks! Now we need dyeable socks. And there were no any big lags (big enough to call it inconvenient) even when all three servers merged into one. Only my framerate dropped to about 10-15 fps. The client was stable too. My game crashed only once and only because I forgot to add it to Avast's exclusions. Also, was it added this OSE that "/time" command effect applies to all the server and you don't need to type it every time you come to another location? This is pretty good.

Suggestions? As someone mentioned above, there is no indication of when you are being attacked. Also, I want lanterns carried by guard ponies to be obtainable by players. They are beautiful!

Another amazing OSW. Just a few things that still need to be worked on:

1)Sometimes when fighting enemies, they would slowly walk up into the air after me whenever I flew up to recover health.
2)The level 30 dragon in the Heartlands would sometimes walk into and below the ground.
3)A working quest book would be nice.
4)It would also be nice if the dragons in the Everfree dropped stuff in addition to xp.
5)The combat is still a little clunky.
6)The day/night cycle is a little too long. Often times I would log-on and find that it was night or about to be night. This isn't necessarily bad, but I missed out on the chance to fully enjoy the new shadow effects during the day.

Other than these few nitpicks, I have thoroughly been enjoying my time in Equestria.

Well This OSW is good and the best I ever played and seen so far.

As much as things needs to be worked on

1. Experience Points - It's hard to tell how much exp you have and how much exp you need for the next level
2. Max MP and Increased MP regen - Well Max MP and MP regen has (or needs) to be increased after each level I believe, but the max MP and MP regen has to be based on species. usually unicorns needs more MP than earth ponies and pegasis.
3. Map - Probably larger map with landmarks where the places and NPCs are would be nice.
and 4. Looting - I Don't like people that can ninja loot from the mob you killed.  Adding shared loot to the participants that are fighting the mob would be a good idea to prevent ninja looting.

I think the biggest thing you could do to improve playability is develop the map.  Most MMOs have the option to open a large version of the map that shows the player's location and the location of any active quest objectives.  This feature would make a huge difference for all of the quests that require you to talk to a certain person.  It would also be nice to show the location of vendors and attractions, but the quest markers is the biggest thing.

Indeed, Unicorns does need more magic or faster magic regen here is why: For pegasuses, flight doesn't require to spend stamina to just fly and for earth ponies, they already have increased speed as default. But for unicorns - all their actions including special race ability (teleportation) spend stamina/mana. With zero stamina they are weaker than pegasuses and earth ponies since those races will never run out of increased speed or flight ability even if their stamina at 0%

i think it needs a task marker on the map to tell you where to go next. i mean i like to explore but when i really want to get things done i have to fly all over the place and talk to every single npc. it gives me a head ach. i like the one that WOW has. its pretty easy to follow. its the best example of what im trying to suggest i guess. thats the biggest problem i had about it.

also i dont have a good mouse and trying to use the keyboard is really awkward. especially when you fly and you have to use the ctrl button. maybe you can designate a button that doesn make you have to do finger twister on the keyboard :/.

it would be cool if we could go into the inside of more buildings and if there were more ponies in them. and more furniture or nick nacks.

ummm, everything looks not lived in. X3 you know like, it doesnt look bussy or like a real town i guess :o

i know its just a test game. but thats the stuff that would make it more enjoyable in the far future for me.

I really loved the game (The best part was that I could fly :3 ) But starting off wasnt quite easy ._. A little tutorial at the beginning when you first enter the game would be nice ^-^ or a pony at each staring spot to tell you how to play, and how to start off  X3 Also a teleport between Cantermore and pony dale that actually worked would be helpful as the long way around takes quite some time  :\ but I assume that was going to get fixed anyways  X3

The OSW surely was pretty amazing even though it ended for me with my PC dying.  D: (It´s not repaired yet  >:O ) As i  sadly have no clue how to make a game or create anything for a game i can only help by giving you guys feedback  :P .

I am just mentioning everything i noticed while playing during the OSW (at least everything i can remember right now) even if some of these thing surely will get fixed in the future anyways i still mention them just to make sure.

Interface:

1. When you first start the game you currently just spawn without any information what to do or where to go a Tutorial explaining the basics of the game and how to get started would be nice.

2. Quests / Shops / Special Enterable Buildings ( SCC for example) should get marked on the map with symbols.

3. A Hotkey to access a Fullscreen map showing a bigger area than the MM does / the hole area.
3.1  A map legend listing and explaining all map symbols (Quests/ Shops/ ...)

4. The Level progress should be visible (simply add an exp bar)

Levels / Leveldesign:

1. As mentioned a couple of times you are currently able to walk through some buildings (noticed that you can walk through almost every building in Ponydale)

2. I surely don´t try to hate on your work but as I took a look at 2 of your Levels ( Evershade Forest / The Mines) I wasn´t 100% convinced of both areas The Mines seam to be only a place to go to grind levels early in the game there wasn´t much to experience other then 2 types of mobs and an ore to mine the Level was a little to tiny for me ... I mean 1 NPC 4-5 mobs and 1 Ore summons the entire area.
The Mines surely have the potenzial for a huge Level with plenty of things to explore so i would like to see you expand the mines a little.

The Evershade forest on the other hand was pretty huge and i liked the fact that it had quite a few different enemies but the area itself looked pretty blank to be completely honest i am not 100% sure myself how to change this the best way but i still feel like there has to be done something about it.

3. You could Mark on the map what Level would be best to enter a certain area.

Other:

1. I am not sure if i just never got lucky or enemies really do drop Bits only i would like each enemie to be able to drop at least 1 item or more.

Example: Diamond Dog                                    Cockatrice                                                   Timberwolf

                x Bits (Droprate 80%)                        x Bits (Droprate 75%)                              x Bits (Droprate 60%)
Bone (Droprate 12%)                         Cockatrice Scale (Droprate 20%)             Branch (Droprate 30%)
Saphire (Droprate 2,5%)                    Cockatrice Egg (Droprate 5%)                 Timberwolf Teeth (Droprate 10%)
                Ruby (Droprate 2,5%)
                Emerald (Droprate 2,5%)
                Diamond (Droprate 0,5%)

Something like that.

2.You could add lots of diffent types of plants and flowers to collect (some of them rare others common) and Zecora could make all kinds of postions out of them. Basic postions like Health potions and postions with temporary effects like decreased stamina costs or a short time strength boost. Also some flowers/plants could be used to create dye to change the color of your cloth.

3. As this game is a game with alot of social interaction i care alot about how my characters looks like so i would love if you were able to bind armor stats to Cosmetics. I remember that i have seen a forge (i guess it was in Cloudsdale (cant remember the fake name)) so there could be a smith binding your armor stats to cosmetics for Bits.

4. I guess that´s the last point i can currently think of ... When i played the game i felt like grinding levels was pretty easy and pretty fast and since it seamed like LVL 50 is the highest LVL you can currently reach it was way to easy to lvl up also the amount of exp gained for higher LVL enemies seam to increase by to little. What i mean is like LVL 1 enemie = 55 EXP LVL 3 enemie = ~75 EXP the difference should be bigger.

Thats all for now and sorry for my terrible english  X3

So, honestly, the only problem I have had with this game is the fact that it's so hard to complete missions since there isn't something like a tracker on the map to show you where to find quests and the ponies that are mentioned in that quest. I don't like running around for hours in this game to find a NPC pony, just so they can mention someone else and make me go find them. Other than that, I love this game!

Also, I find it a bit odd that there's no Alicorn NPC's (not counting the pegasi in armor). I know you guys said you wouldn't add Alicorn's, which I can totally see why since pretty much everyone would choose them and they'd be OP, but these are no more than just characters you guys created and decided to put in the game, they can't really do anything except give you missions. It might just be me, but I personally think having some Alicorn NPC's living in the castles seems to add more character to the areas, you know, put them in the areas they live in the show? This isn't really a requirement, just an idea.  :celestia:

That might make an interesting costume item, although it might block back armor.

Well, things, i missed in game:

- Multilanguage: an option, to switch prefered language
- Option for questhelp (arrow, which leads me to the questposition)
- Questbook: it wasn´t very clear, in my opinion
- Bad chat-window: it was very hard, to chat or to take attention to it
- NPC: they should be more lively
- Traveling: pls set in a shortcut for traveling (i was to stupid to travel from cloudsdale to ponyville)

Greetings :)

All of the complaints I have had while playing it were already addressed by others earlier, so their is no point in dredging what everyone else has said. I thought it is a great game and had loads of fun playing it, and cant wait for the next OSW. My only real regret was I didn't have enough time to get to know it due to work, I'll have to schedual some free time to explore it more. All in all the Legend of Equestria team deserve a lot of praise for this accomplishment.

Hey there, sorry my feedback is a bit late, but here are my thoughts on the game. I overall really enjoyed it, but there were some things that I think should be brought up. Some of these things have probably been mentioned already, but I'll bring them up again, just in case:

-The Stomp attack was pretty useless for me, as it didn't really damage enemies. Not sure if I wasn't using it correctly, but overall I had to rely on other attacks to beat foes.

-Sometimes the houses were kind of non-existent, making it feel broken, but still fun to hide in.

-The journal feature really didn't do anything; it chimed when a new quest was accepted, but remained blank, making it a memory challenge to remember the accepted tasks. Especially for tasks that involved locating a particular NCP as there were few times when they could be easily located. I mostly found them by luck or by accident.

-The guards patrolling around have the option to talk with them, but they don't say anything. I'm not sure if it's still a work in progress, but it doesn't make much sense to me to have the option available at the moment.

-One last and probably the biggest problem I found, is when I broke the game...there was one spot in SCC where I just tried to fly through the rails into the upper seating area to the left of the entrance, (the spot that had a massive dance party Friday on the Equus server I think) but somehow it pulled me in and I was trapped in the wall...along with a few other ponies who tried to help out or found the same problem. I ended up having to recreate the character to play it again but luckily I hadn't done much with him at the time to sweat too much. I had also heard there was some code to use to unstick yourself, but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Aside from these things, it was a fantastic game and I thoroughly enjoyed trying it out. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next Open Server event. :D

I LOVED the design. the ponies and scenery were beautiful! :D BUT there was one fatal flaw that prevented me from playing longer than a few minutes at a time...  :c The camera. One minute everything was great! i was exploring, running and flying around. i would stop to talk to some pony or perform an emote action or anything really, and the camera would snap over top of my pony so i was looking down on her and when i tried to put it back it wouldn't stay. I couldn't tell where I was going and more often than not ended up getting mad and quitting.  ovO So i love the design and the concept but i physically can not play a game that i can't even tell what direction I'm going in or whats going on around me.  ono D:

Thanks for the feedback! We will be sure to check them out.

The book is going through a total redesign as most of the features of the book are just missing.

The guards are also a work in progress, in the future they will have many more interactions and dialog.

There are quite a few issues with SCC. We are are defiantly looking into getting that place really cleaned up especially since we had so many ponies partying during the last OSW!

Hi there, when I played the game I enjoyed the new additions including the shading, the guards and new quests.
There are some minor criticisms I have, one being that there are certain buildings in Ponydale that any player can walk through, some of the guards have been buried underneath some paths and some of the props in the Heartlands not being properly placed.
But still, once again, great job!  :D

I have a few questions. How much longer will it be before the game is finished? And why not keep it open all the time so those who keep missing out on the open server events can participate? I find it frustrating as I am unable to take part in the open server weekends and I would very much like to play the game but can't. I want to play the game but can't if you only open the game for just a weekend after a long while.

Well, my feedback is: I couldn't play at all. Crashed when started loading after clicking on a server. I was going to open a ticket, but someone had already reported it on the first day, so I waited, but the ticket was not answered until the end of the OSW.
I also couldn't play last OSW, at the beggining of april, because it also had crashed.
No problem with my computer, because I made sure that this time everything was ok.
It means it's been almost half a year I've been waiting. And I don't know if I'll look forward to play it anymore, if it happens a third time, waiting one whole year.

my biggest thing is the quests in the book - they aren't showing up on the page at all, so i'm getting lost at a few points. i found two of the things for the nurse in Ponydale for example, but i can't remember where the third place is that i'm supposed to ask for supplies.

the only other major thing i could say is, i feel like the areas could use more distinguishable landmarks, or something to make certain points stand out more. now, i fully understand that would probably be a pain to come up with, but you asked for feedback :P for example, navigating the Crystal Kingdom was pretty difficult. it looks good and you guys are doing a great job on this game! but a lot of the streets there just tend to blend together. i've had a lot of problems with this when trying to find certain locations or NPCs in the game during quests. the giant statue in the Heartlands, where the portal to Cloudopolis is, is a perfect example of something that makes something stand out more. i've been having some trouble finding the portal to Ponydale in there, but i know exactly where the portal to Cloudopolis is.

now, i'm also having some trouble mining. there's a quest where a pony asks you to get some gems for her, but i can't figure out how to do that.

Много слов! ovO

The ability for pegasi and earth ponies to noclip through walls was removed, but Unicorns still can do it. I think everyone should equally be able to noclip, or nobody can. It is extremely hard to make the teleport spell foolproof though, so I totally get it.

The bottom of cloudopolis has a layer which teleports you if you fall down through it, (but strangely not if you fly up through it, what's up with that?) that I think could be used slightly behind all the walls in the game to teleport people back to the spawn if they manage to teleport through the first wall. It would probably increase the file size of all the maps a lot.
