Well that's not quite how it works in the Pathfinder system  lol! Regular NPCs (villagers, who have never fought before get commoner or such levels and they are hardly more then level 3)

Guards are at most level 5, royal guards are Level 7 MAX thats the captains and all that, unless the princesses took adventures on and I ASSUME she has, so I'm saying we've got a couple 15's in there at least.

Classes are something a pony has trained at a GREAT deal more then other ponies. We'll start at level 3 because we are going to be adventurers.
y'all know medieval armies were mostly villagers right :]  give 'em a spear/bow an' let 'em go to slaughter.

Problem with statting Goddesses is, like I've said, y'all can get munchkins what go an' kill gods.  :]

Why not start with blank slates, and let our actions/choices determine what class we eventually fall into?  Start as a normal common villager, and then the Call To Adventure finds us and we slowly start gaining stats.

I've ALWAYS liked this idea, but it is NOTORIOUSLY hard to pull off. Because when your level zero there really isn't much you can do, we can try it but I don't know if it's best for the FIRST tutorial game.

However if we are all willing to start off with a slow game I'm game, but . . . well it's already iffy and I'd rather you stay with us Nova  lol, you too Magus.

hey, at least as foals there isn't quite as harsh punishments when things go wrong :]  and learning from being so weak will let them appreciate being strong.  Like Captain America.  Except not lol

All right we will do it  :x! Probably good for introducing stats and the like if you let ME assign them. We'll do some slow leveling but if your willing to deal with me I'll introduce you guys to the game by degrees.

All right my pony pals the sign up . . . is up!  lol

http://forum.legendsofequestria.com/index.php?topic=2927.0

And here's the scoop, on the races:

Earth Ponies: Versitile, get a bonus to whatever attribute they use the most. Are capable of learning quicker and can learn an additional skill.

Pegasus: Bonus to dexterity and have a fly speed of 40ft/round (6 seconds) have a penalty to wisdom though (because their heads are always in the clouds  ) Cannot fly in heavy load and fly at half speed in medium load (we'll get to that later)

Unicorn: Great spellcasters (I'm saying ANYpony can be a spellcaster, yes even Earth ponies!) and get a bonus to their intelligence and charisma but aren't as hardy as other ponies and get a penalty to their constitution. Get a bonus to ONE artisan skill and get minor magical cantrips they can use twice per day: Mage hand (lift any object under 5 pounds), Prestidigitation (Clean, dirty or dye 1 cubic foot of material/ round (6 seconds)

NO ALICORNS! Only the basic ponies right now, maybe later I'll let more "Advanced" races in but not right now!

Religion talk is usually frowned upon here.... and usually the Goddesses On Equestria are seen as the rulers, if any...

oh, and no "feather fingers" for pegasi? (fluttershy in PYHD)

No feather fingers  lol! Flying is really an excellent advantage!

I would like to point out we'll probably not be dealing with numbers that much for this first game and maybe not even the second. Your scores will probably be Good, bad or average. That clears up a great deal of problems for the first bit . . . I hope we can get to hard numbers eventually though.

religion is kinda iffy I think x3  and background is just asking for some munchkining, depending on the player lol but I suppose I'll have to trust the players here not to munchkin.

Muchkining won't help much because there's gonna be a max, max and a min, min. In the end the stats will have to play out. Sure it will make the characters a little better but ALL the attributes are important.

Some classes require some scores to be higher! You can probably be a "decent" fighter with full average stats but you really couldn't be anything but a HORRIBLE mage without a high intellegence or charisma

then conservative RPers like me probably will have a hard time getting to do certain classes :\ What is your opinion on what class Feather is, canonically?

Hmm, well I don't know yet, but I'm sure we'll figure it out as we play through this tutorial . . .

GalvinRoe

Allright my pony pals! Looks like Love Notes is going to be a ranger. And my pony is probably going to be a Monk!

So we have a good start-up on fighting classes, although not particularly tanks we'll be all right in a scrap.

Allright! For the moment here is what the setup is looking like:

Love Notes (Love Notes): Ranger (Fighter or Archer, decent damage, small spell list, Animal Companion)

Galvin Roe (Stallins White): Monk (Specialized Fighter, damage that increases per level, Hits the most, low health (for a fighter) AC ranges depending on stats. Good with grapples) *Cannot wear armor*

Wandering Magus (Juniper): Paladin decent fighter, small spell list, gets helpful auras, can heal, normal health (for a fighter), Strong against evil and undead.

Wandering Magus (Feather): Wizard Large spell list, lowest health, can learn spells from scrolls, books and other ponies. Can choose to *specialize* in a school of magic (I'll let you decide whether you want to deal with that or not Magus) has to prepare spells in his spell book each day, to use. *Cannot wear armor*

Lusterless Nova (Lusterless Nova): Sorcerer Small spell list, lowest health, can cast spells spontaneously (doesn't have to prepare specific spells per day), Gets a "bloodline" which grants bonuses to stats . . . Armor . . . and sometimes gives strange powers. *Cannot wear armor*

Ninkon (Cedar Woods): Druid Knows all Druid spells as soon as they open up to her/him, normal health, can transform into an animal or elemental, get a few nature attuned abilities, must prepare spells to cast. *Cannot wear metal armor*

Coffee Rush (Beta Crash): Bard Knows songs and performances that enhance aspects of other characters. Has a small spell list, casts spontaneously, very good with many skills, gets bonuses to skills, decent fighter. *Can wear light armor*

And there is our list of heroes my friends

Feather's "speciality" is combining all different kinds of magic into spell matrices/engines using runes, sigils, glyphs etc.  Is there a school for that? :]

No, sorry  :c. Specialties deal with schools of magic. Every spell is seperated into a school. A glyph or matrices user would be a prestige class of a Wizard and like I said  :c no presitge classes first time around.

Prestige classes are EXCELLENT just not the first time around, it's just a touch too confusing for most ponies. We'll see about that next game, I'll be introducing feats in next game (if I can't do that this game).

Specialized schools of magic deal with types of magic your pony has invested a "GREAT DEAL" of time into. For every school you specialize in you have to have two opposition schools. Schools that have suffered from your research in that ONE school. These schools you know less about and spells that originate from that school are harder to cast.

So like I said you can take a look into that (IF YOU WANT TO) otherwise we'll leave it off for the first game.

(To Trilight Dashie)

This tutorial shall span the length of a short campaign (probably very short) then I will allow you ponies to use the Character sheets. I'll probably be posting up the character sheets soon though . . . If I can figure out how to work google docs  :c.

Allright my pony pals, dropping offline for AT LEAST 4 hours. I'll be back on by 8:00 though . . .

You are free to post in the tutorial at this point. Later it might be necessary for me to be on (or at least necessary for one GM to be on)

But for now we are establishing backstory and our specialities. Remember long posts, if you can.

Do a little reading on the website if you have a chance, the more you know the less I need to teach (but I'll teach anyway so don't worry) And have FUN!
