Well... it's official...

I don't think I'll be doing Let's Plays ever again. I always did LP's on my laptop and now I'm having MAJOR issues on it. I've exhausted EVERY POSSIBLE METHOD to resolve it without ANYTHING working so now I guess I'll ask here. I don't know if you guys can help but you can at least try, right?

Most of it seems to involve my internet. Websites will load sluggishly/not at all. I can't seem to download anything with my FireFox on my laptop. YouTube videos only load for a couple of seconds before they just stop and not load anymore.

I can't update my MalwareBytes program on my laptop. It just gets stuck between 7-15% and does nothing else.

I've tried getting rid of adware/malware/etc. That didn't work.

I tried a Command Prompt scan. That didn't work.

I tried a System Restore to an earlier point. That didn't work either.

My laptop is an ASUS Windows 7 laptop

Can someone here help me out here? PLEASE?!

I'm really depressed and this is genuinely upsetting me. I can't do my LP's on my desktop because my desktop has had problems in the past as well.

Can someone please help me out here? I'd respect you forever if you can help me resolve this problem. Thank you.

What's your GPU, CPU and RAM?

What's your ISP and and internet plan?

Are you using wireless? If so, what's your router model?

There's no one-size-fits-all solution to a computer issue.

McSleuthburger

so the only problems are you having are internet related?
I know this is going to be a stupid questions but have you tried other browsers?

Yes I have. The same thing happens in IE.

My ISP is Time Warner Cable. I'm not sure what my "internet plan" is or how to find out.

I am using wireless and my router is SMC Networks.

I don't know what my GPU, CPU, or RAM is and I don't know how to find out what it is.

As you can see... I'm not a technology genius.

I dont know windows 7 that well so bare with me
try going to the start menu and hit computer
after you get a screen showing your drives, right click on the blank background and left click properties
then under the system tab there should be some information about you computer's hardware

Open the Run program from the windows search bar, type in 'dxdiag'. A window will pop up showing your computer specs. Copy and paste everything in the System Information box, and everything in the Device box under the Display tab here.

The plan I am referring to is the quality of your connection based on what you pay. TWC has plans for 2mbps to 50Mbps. If you're on the low end then that's your problem right there. I would consider 15Mbps the BARE MINIMUM for gaming and streaming, though I would HIGHLY suggest getting the best plan you can afford.

((Sorry. I really don't know what you meant specifically so I just copied and pasted the whole thing. Again sorry...  :I ))

ugh...Intel...

From what I can see you're CPU/GPU shouldn't have any issues doing what you want it to do, but i"m an AMD/Nvidia guy..

you can see what you're internet speed is by testing it with speedtest.net

Intel CPUs are flat out better that AMD. It's really not even up for debate, they simply perform better clock for clock.

I'm no fanboy, but facts are facts.

Back on subject, though. Your specs appear 'decent', I suppose. I don't see any reason those specs would cause problems with streaming, so I'd chalk it up to an internet access issue. Yes, you should do a speedtest, and keep in mind that sometimes things can go wrong with wiring in your neighborhood. If you are getting unacceptably low accessibility then you may want to give your cable company a call. They don't know unless you tell them.

Theres always the end all option if its not a internet issue (and mine is a final option)

Backup as many files as you can else where External hard drive, Cd whatever then re-install the OS and start anew but agian this is the final option

How do I do that then?

Um... this is happening on my laptop ONLY. My other two desktop computers are fine.

Are you absolutely sure this is the issue?

No, I'm not. I can't be absolutely sure of anything from across the country, I'm just making suggestions. Try running speedtest on your laptop and on your desktops. If the laptop scores much lower in connectivity then it's an issue with your wireless.

But if it was an issue with my wireless my other devices would be affected as well and they are not.

This is what my ISP just said to me over an online chat I had with them a couple of minutes ago.

The first thing I would suggest as a start is to go to speedtest.net and report what it feeds back.

If your ISP (such as Comcast) has their own version or extension of speedtest.net you may use that instead.

(Just to start off how the wireless chip's throughput is).  I'm gonna think of a few other ideas, but they may involve running in Safe Mode.

Edit: On the bottom right corner of the screen there should be a little 'staircase' looking icon, the wireless strength.  What does it show?

The more advanced way of getting there is the Control Panel, then Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center, Change adapter settings (it if is correct, I use Windows 8.1), right click the wireless adapter (and/or tell us what it is, that will help) and click status.  In addition to the wireless strength what is the throughput or speed.

My other idea is that your wireless is spread evenly between devices.  For example if your router has 54Mbps router you only have that much bandwidth and devices on the edges will draw more bandwidth for the same amount of data than those closest to the router.

I think what he means is, comparing the speed off your laptop to the speed off the desktops to see if there's a connectivity problem with the wireless on your laptop

Also before I forget one of the ideas I will suggest as a process of elimination is to see if the laptop works on a public network such that of a school or library or if possible a friend's house and etc.  Just a way to test out a different network on the wireless card for consistency.

Actually I have a better idea.  If you have a computer with a working DVD burner you should be able to burn a LiveCD of many Linux based operating systems (I prefer Ubuntu, however it requires a DVD disc).  What this establishes is that if you can boot Ubuntu, connect to your wireless network and it works that it nulls any hardware problems.

I am nowhere near a public network to try something like that. I do not have any DVDs or the funds to get one to do your second suggestion either.

Wireless Strength is five bars and the speed is 54.0 Mbps

The wireless adapter is Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6250 AGN

I have successfully fixed my issue.

I had to repair my avast Antivirus. Everything is working normally now.

See you guys at the stress test!! I hope...
