Hello Everyone!
If you take a look over at our media page, you'll see that we've released our character creator! The character creator is also in alpha, and we'll be adding more manes and tails to it as we develop the game!
Please note:
The character creator works on most browsers, however, if you do not have the Unity plug-in it should be linked from the page, or you can find it here (http://unity3d.com/webplayer).
The Unity plug-in does not work with Linux, therefore the character creator will not be available to those with Linux at this time.
Saving is only for the current session. If you close the page, you will lose your work. This will change in the future.
If you want to see the character creator in fullscreen, right click the plug-in and select fullscreen!

The Character Creator has been updated! Your characters are now saved when you exit the app and you can export your characters' PonyCodes to share them with your friends!
So that's what was big... No wonder! I'm bursting with joy right now, it looks absolutely great!

Though, some ponies can locate and edit existing cutiemark (for example, replace image), but nobody, except you, will see it.

That will most likely not happen because though it would be fun, people will abuse the feature and make more headaches than what it is worth

Will there be an option in the future for seperate eye colors? my OC usually has one black and red eye, while the other is white with blue. also, maybe facial markings? might be pushing it there though. :P

Problem!!! IDK what's wrong but I'm getting an error message that says "Failed to initialize 3D rendering. Make sure you have DirectX 9 and video card drivers installed." Currently, the character creator doesn't save. The moment that you close the tab or refresh the page, your pony will be lost. We are going to fix this as soon as we can. The creator is still in its early stages, so look forward to updates such as being able to save your pony.
It's a great creator, and I like it, there's just always an ad in my way so I can't see the text that describes the race. A little annoying, but other than that, it's really well done.

I'm sure there will be implemented multicoloured hair options at some point. They're not exactly important right now.
I'm here to say I'm really excited for your project and I really love your Pony Creator. I have one question though. Will it be possible to make a Male pony with a mare-like face? I would really want to because none of my OC's have that big chin buffy look. I know it's still in pre-alpha but nobody seemed to have brought this up so I'm curious.
My computer has a problem, could I see some screenshots? Of the male body, none of the screenshots have that.

Where do I put bug report for the LoE CC? Cause I have one. Sometimes the character creator locks up the computer and I can't click anything so I have to hold the power button to shut the computer off to get the computer working again.
Try updating GPU drivers.
And open task manager to see if you dont have 100% load which may also cause hang

The save function isn't working right now anyway, but we will fix it.
If the advertisements are covering the creator too much, you can right-click the creator and select Go Fullscreen. This will make the creator take up your entire screen. You can close out of fullscreen with the Esc key on your keyboard.

I liked it in the playable alpha a little better, not that I'm complaining or anything, it looks great, I was just hoping we'd be able to create our own cutie marks by layering the images, like it looked like we'd be able to do in the playable alpha. One other suggestion: Give the stallions some eye choices. I noticed that there are only two eye shape choices, and that they only seem to apply to the mares. Again, not complaining, just some humble suggestions.

We are still in pre-alpha (not even alpha yet) but
You will be able to layer 3 different cutie marks to have your own cutie mark
there will be more options for both mares and stallions when the game gets closer to being done
so dont worry those two things are already been planned for

If they are going to be layered like they are now, only the "top" will be visible since they share same UV space.
In this case it will be better to set on the (current character screen) only one cutie mark and on the "next screen" have a screen that will let you customize 2nd and 3rd along with description what each cutie mark gives (along with the "main") and any traints/skills that might be able to pick from

Did you play pre-alpha and did it worked for you? If yes then there may be hope for you and it is just the issue with unity's web player. If not then you should play when it will be avaible again to see if you dont have same issue.
If you do, update your GPU drivers (latest is 14.17). If it does not solve your issue then get new GPU since your's is very old (you can use on that motherboard one AGP x8 GPU(check manual to be sure))

When you complete the tutorial quest as a filly/colt, you will unlock a talent. You will only be able to choose from the many cutie mark images that are connected to that talent. We will, of course, improve the cutie mark selector in the character screen once we get closer to implementing this function.
So, for example, if I want a medic tipe character how will i earn that skill? Will i have a choise of tutorials to go thrue and then choose a mark?
It might be something like for the purpose of the tutorial you are told to find a pony that is a "Master" of something. (Of what is up to you)
They would be scattered all around the world and they give you quest to do. When finished and returned to them you get your cutie mark/talent.
As for 2nd and 3rd cutie mark well they could be abaible from higher levels.
Well i managed to get my OC looking almost how i wanted it to thanks to the RGB colour options... probably should have read up to the 'doesnt save if you close your browser' part :/

I think you should definitely have vinyl Scratch and similar style manes
You could also give us some code (like generalzoi's pony creator) so we can re-upload what we made just for now.
Also more eye shapes (theres a common eye shape which is a slanted oval) would be great to have :D

Your GPU might not work when the game gets bigger.
Also if i'm not wrong rour max ammount of GPU memory is 128, also it's OpenGL 1.4 only

I don't know if it's the Unity web player that it's broken (which I highly doubt that) or that the Pony Creator is not responding for now, because I'm having that problem too and that's really weird for me because I used it days ago; so yeah, maybe it's a glitch. :c

I see the issue as well. I think that may be a broken attempt to update the page. I'll look into it.
My suspicions were correct. The Character Creator has been updated and now saves your ponies between sessions and you can now share your characters' PonyCodes! Have fun, guys!

...Um, how exactly does one get these mysterious "PonyCodes"? And it didn't save the pony I made after I exited... Did I just misunderstand, or...?
You can export and import PonyCodes with new buttons found on the top left when editing a character. I believe your browsers are caching the app, so when we updated it, your browser didn't download the new file. Just either delete your browser's cache, open the page and hit reload, or if you're using Google Chrome, opening it in Incognito Mode will also make sure that it's up to date.

Looks like the scrollbar for horn/wing size does not work for the "wings". For horn it seems to work.

The character creator and the game are completely separate. Characters you make on there are saved on your computer, not our servers. I'll probably end up adding an import PonyCode button in the game, so you can copy a character over, though.
Wow, randomization button appeared! And the pony can be finally saved!
Now there is only a content problem. There is only a couple of manes/tails/eyes yet available.

Question: Right now, tall ponies (and especially unicorns) do not fit in the preview window. ono Will this be fixed at some point? Also, will some kind of reference point be implemented so we can better see exactly how tall our ponies will be compared to the game environment? :D

I am working on a feature that will hide the editing interface, zoom in on your pony, and show some "preview" options such as changing the backdrop and possibly a screenshot button.

The one thing that annoys me is choosing the cutie mark. There's just so many you have to scroll through before finding the one you like. Maybe it could be a whole (dropdown) list showing the images of the cutie marks, and we can choose the one we like from there? Would make it so much easier.

I saved the ponies as fillies so you wouldn't need to change them to fillies, because if you pasted the pony code in the release, the pony would need to be pasted as a filly/colt. BTW, when I reopen my browser I need to start over. Is this because of google's incognito windows?
I doubt they will keep the code and saved ponies until completion.

No, but it does save to your computer. You have to actually hit the "save" button, however... I have the Back button let you know when you haven't saved any changes, but restarting your browser or refreshing the page won't let you know. Google Chrome's Incognito Mode still loads and saves data the same way.

That's a very low priority change. Remember that Cutie Marks won't be selectable like that once that system is completed. It probably won't even be a dropdown after you do your quests and choose your cutie mark category. Thus, that change would solely be for the web character creator. Every other update is added to both the web-build and the game itself. Sorry. I know it's annoying.
Also, I have a sort of off topic question. Will there be a way to get a weather themed cutie mark? To make a proper Rainstorm I'd need a rain drop cutie mark. What sort of thing would make that a choice?

cutie marks will be given to you if you perform certain quest / questlines I think
but to answer your question - "yes"

Well, the game probably won't be release for quite sometime still, but I guess the pony creator show us that the game is being worked on, and maybe will not be too far off now, but I could be wrong.

Only certain manes (maybe tails) use two colors. I don't think any of the manes currently selectable use two colors, but if we were to add any, that's what the second wheel would be for.
There actually is one mane that uses two colours now, the one with the two ponytails :)

No. That is a very old chipset. The technology it uses is almost a decade old and that model is at least five years old I believe. Read this post made by Cerebrate for more clarification. (http://forum.legendsofequestria.com/index.php?topic=2189.0)

I agree, rainbow, grayscale and gradient hair could be a good idea...but maybe too much work :I
Rainbow hair seems like a Rainbow Dash only trait. They MIGHt add it though.
Grayscale hair can just be done by making the colours gray.
Gradient hair, I'm not so sure. There WILL at least be two-coloured hair styles, though.
Well i hope they will add a Lotus/Aloe mane ^-^

We're still working on the game, and it's only in Pre-Alpha. It will be a while before we finish it, but it's likely that we'll have another open server weekend event someday.
We aren't completely sure about rainbow hair just yet. It's being discussed.
I'll definitely need two colored manes/tails for Rain. And hoof customization would be good too...
Actually, how you're upgrading Web Character Creator? Is it some sort of test playground, where you can experiment, or you making new stuff in the game character creator first, then transferring features into web character creator?

Unity can export to multiple platforms, the web being one of them. We design it in Unity just like the actual game, then export it.

There are plans for some manes and tails to have two colors, and there will be a special hoof option.

On specific manes, yes. That's why there's a second color wheel.

What about tabs for color wheels? It will save a lot of vertical space, when using multicolored manes.

First of all.
That Character creator is just so people have something to do. And it is a fixed size. In the game people will be playing in 720p or up. There will be room.
Second did you ever watched other people uploading their play? Besides complaining about night and hard to see chat txt color over similar background IN character creator they dont notice things like having a scrollbar to change other options and you want to change color picker to a popup buton?
