Hello, everyone!
We are now looking for writers and editors to join the Legends of Equestria team! If you have a passion for writing, are interested in game development, or just want to use your talents to help the game along, please feel free to send us an email!
Update: Writing applications are now closed! Thanks to all of you who applied!
Small question: What exactly are we sending to
[email protected]? Is it a story, an application, or something else?

Agreed, I am a writer and I would love to make an contribution to the place.
Indeed, I have read through the post and found it confusing too. ^-^
I assume it's a story link in Google Docs and so have done that. The post also mentioned making sure all judges are to have permissions to view? I assume they will give us a list of those so we can allow them to see the Google Doc. Anyhow I'm sure it will all work out :D
Why am I too young... >A<
Good luck to everyone else who tries to get on the writing team!
"Examples must be at least one page in length"
When you say this does it mean you would like an example of our work?
Or should we write up a few paragraphs explaining why we would be good for the job, using previous experience to back up what we say?
I'm going with an example of our writing.
Lucky I have a fanfic in progress to help
As for an example of previous qualification how do we note that? Just say so? (I only ask because attachments wont be read)
I guess you just mark down everything they want in the email, and the one page example is of that of your work. That's what I'm going to do.
Hi all! Sorry for the confusion. We are, indeed, looking for a sample of your writing. I've updated the post and made the really important parts bold. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Good luck!
And the single page of creative writing can be anything? Or should we keep it MLP related?
I feel it could be anything, but I used an MLP theme just to be safe.
Thanks for clearing that up! So just need to know who to give permissions too ^-^

If you are referring to the google document, I think setting the doc to "Anyone with the link can view" and emailing that link is the best way to go :)

That's the method I used as well. I'm glad to know I didn't mess up there.
1 more year until I can sign up....
(Also will there be a 24 hour livestream any-time soon?)
Ah that's the ticket! New to Google Docs, thanks for the help 0:)
SUNUCULAR NE ZAMAN AÇILACAK!!!! >:O YOKSA DELİRİCEM ovO
Hi. I'd like to apply as a writer, but I haven't done anything in english. Should I create a one-shot for the google doc, or translate one of my fics? :P
Could an example of writing be a series of quest dialogue or something?
Can it be anything writing related? Or does it have to be a story? :s
When I applied I included a couple of small samples from my stories that I've written. I believe it can be anything though.
When it says it cannot be edited by anyone else, does that mean no one else could read it and give feedback (which causes you to then make changes), or just that they couldn't go in and change something themselves?
When we need to add our name, do you mean our username here, or our real name?
I just put both, just to be safe.
Im just wondering, what do you mean by "short story"?
sorry if it sounds like a dumb question, but i am unsure if it means like it is something completed already, like "she walked to the stage, spoke hi and exit. the end" or a small work from a real story, like breaking on a cliffhanger (or doing "in the next chapter of ...")
It sounds to me like they want a whole story. Short story could mean one chapter or maybe something like 10 pages. (I think X3, I really don't know). But I'm sure if your one chapter can stand on it's own it would be fine. They want to see your writing style, so I'm sure it will be fine.
I just submitted a short story. It's not MLP related as I don't have a short story for it, yet. I'm just happy to have a chance to maybe work on this game. Even if I don't get picked, its fun to have all this anticipation! O:
I was reading through the required stuff again. And I saw that I am two years too young, yet another awesome opportunity that was spoiled by my age. >:O
I am sorry you feel that the opportunity was spoiled by your age. I feel they have a good reason for having it, though. Not many people under the age of sixteen years meet a specific maturity quota, and they might need someone to be of that specific quota for a smaller chance of picking one who is really difficult to work with, if at all able. I may be wrong, but that is just my guess.
I know why the rule is there, but I sometimes wish it wasn't. I just personally feel that this would be a good opportunity for me as a budding writer.
Hopefully my two journal style fics and my in progress TCB fic will make the cut. I'd love t contribute to this game.
WHY DID I HAVE TO BE 15 AND A HALF NUUUUUU. Oh, well. In any case, good luck to the writers. Whatever amazing antiquities of writing that they can come up with I'll be happy with, as long as it's a good story. But I'm so enraged that I'm just barely too young. God, why?
Why?! I'm too young D:
But still, good luck to whoever enters :) I'm sure I'll enjoy the game even more now since that there will be s storyline!
Hope some good things come out of this for you all!
Ok it's nice that you are hiring Writers and I'm not a writer and I'm 11 years old so I can't apply. Just this has nothing to do with the application but please tell when you are going to open LOE. I really wanna play and it's been a really long time since you opened it. Please open it like maybe next week or tell me when you are going to open it thanks. 0:) ^-^ :3 :D
They usually mention when they're going to open an OSW about a half month before they do, from what I can gather. Just keep an eye on the "Game Updates" section.

Oh, i see...thanks for answering it :3 (and sorry for the delay. "different time zones"). well, now i am in doubt which one i send, a mlp related one or not... the problem is not being mlp related, but the story itself...
Hope you get picked, it would be fun to "survive" the anticipation and participate :3
Post Merge
Darn, i sent the application, yet i forgot to input my age. But i told there which one was my username, and here (on the profile of this forum) i have wrote how old i am (year, month & date).
Do i have to re-send another with the age (and write to disregard the last one) or just by having my username there (and age on the profile) is enough already?

You're welcome. But now you have me asking the same question. I didn't put my birthday on my submission. I'd imagine my profile would be good enough, but just in case:
Do applicants need to include birthdays on application? o_O

Well, since there wasn't a answer yet, i think its not nescessary. And if we had to re-send the e-mails, then it would probably fill they box, and cause some anger plus problems...
(sorry if i gave false hope on they answering it :( )

I think it's fine if you don't. If you're under 16, just don't send in applications to begin with :)

Hello, everyone!
We are now looking for writers and editors to join the Legends of Equestria team! If you have a passion for writing, are interested in game development, or just want to use your talents to help the game along, please feel free to send us an email!
Writer and Editor applications must be submitted via email with a link to a Google Doc in the application. Your name must also be included. Any applicants who are copying from an outside source such as Microsoft Word must paste the text directly into Google Docs rather than uploading a file. They must also be visible to the parties which will judge entries. Submissions which require a download or do not have proper permissions will be ignored. Examples of your creative writing (preferably in short story form) must be at least one page in length and cannot have been edited by any outside party. Experience is not necessary, but any applicants capable of listing qualifications should do so. We will no longer accept applications after one week, at which point all valid applications will be reviewed by members of the Legends of Equestria writing team. Once the review process is complete, the most favorable will receive a prompt, at which point they will have one week to submit a script that falls within the guidelines of this prompt. After these have been judged, the new writers will be announced.
Send all applications to [email protected] with the title of the position for which you are applying in the subject line.
NOTE THAT ALL APPLICANTS MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE
We would also like to remind you that there are other departments accepting applications, as is visible at the top of our front page. Most notably, the Design team is accepting applications for Level Designers, Unity Implementers and VFX Artists, among other positions. For more details on the teams that are currently hiring, including the relevant contact details, you can find the initial announcement board here: http://forum.legendsofequestria.com/index.php?topic=12413
Good luck to all applicants, we look forward to seeing your work!
I will send it as soon as can be
QuoteI think it's fine if you don't. If you're under 16, just don't send in applications to begin with :)

Se lo que se siente compañero :c pero aún así lo intenté ^-^
ENG: I know that feel bro :c but I actually gave it a try ^-^
Just to make sure, do we still have time to send an application? I know it says 7 days and this was made on the 22nd, however dose that mean we have till like midnight on the 29th or 28th?
It will be a legal/insurance reason. They have to be so careful to make sure nothing could potentially block the project 0:) Good luck to all those who have applied ^-^

I would imagine you have until midnight on the 29th, that would be a fair 7 days. But it's best to send something earlier rather than waiting for an answer. I don't want you to miss your chance.
As for the age thing, I think it's for a mixture of reasons. The thing to remember is that this isn't going to be your only chance to show your writing talent. Your day is coming. There is a good reason for age limits and it's not to punish you or the project. Keep contributing by encouraging the staff and appreciating everything they are trying to do. I hoping we will all have plenty of years playing this game and that means we'll need future writer! Take this time to sharpen those skills! <3
I would apply, if by looking at my track record with my stories I saw at least one that was actually completed. As that is not the case, and they all have multiple chapters, but haven't been worked on in a long while, I think that despite my stories being fairly good, I'd end up being a burden rather than a help. I do wish you all luck those who do apply though!
If this was posted a month or 2 ago i would sent an application, but now i can't giving the little free time that i have it will be really hard to keep up with the team, so good luck to all who apply.
