Messages - Darkstorm

Sidon walked through the corridors from the classroom back toward the dormitory, reading once again.
You know I really thought you would have learned your lesson from the last time you bowled somepony else over, Rona observed.
"I've added a failsafe to my spell, so there shouldn't be any problems. If it even detects another life form I'll know." Came the stallion's reply as they passed through the doorway leading to the student's rooms.
Oh, okay. Bet you thirty bits it doesn't work.
He briefly considered throwing her out one of the windows and locking it, but eventually decided against the plan and continued to read as he walked toward his room.
2
"Professor," said Sidon, raising a hoof and breaking his period of observation. "Would you be able to give us an example of the practical application of Dark magic? Also, is there a distinction between Shadow magic and Dark magic or are they the same?"
3
Sidon was studying his candle closely, taking careful notes of its variations. Currently it was tall and thin, moving very slowly and glowing a light ice blue color, the same as his eyes. He had a bit of an affinity with fire, so he carefully fed the candle a few ambient waves of his magic and began to do some simple tricks, shaping the flame into abstract figures, spinning it into a disk and finally tossing a small bead up a short ways, making it swoop back down again, like a phoenix into its nest.
Pyro...
He chuckled at Rona's mental comment, "Don't be mad just because I can manipulate fire better than you, former elemental."
Whatever, I like this incarnation better anyway!
"Right, sure..."
He continued to toy with the candle flame, letting his thoughts and feelings shape it for him as he waited for the teacher to arrive.
((btw I'm going to be gone for the weekend so I'll probably miss class :c))

Sidon took a place in the second row as he usually did and began to pull out his writing supplies, when suddenly he remembered something from the announcement. He looked at Rona, who was sitting on the desk beside his, "Hey Rona, that repair spell from earlier, it belonged to a Professor Disk right?"
Yeah, what of it?
"Didn't you hear the intercom? They're teaching this class. Anypony that can cast a spell like that clearly knows what they're doing."
Well duh, that's why they're a teacher.
He let out an exasperated sigh, continuing to set up his work area. "That's not what I meant..."
5
Sidon chuckled quietly to himself and trotted after the other pony, grimacing slightly as his leg gave a twinge of pain. "Would you mind if I tag along? I'm attending shadow magic as well."
6
Sidon sat staring at the newly rebuilt fountain, looking rather impressed. Even Rona, in her place upon the stallion's head once again, seemed to find the display more than a little imposing.
"Whoa...that was awesome!"

He rolled his eyes and looked back over to Mage, "Well, I suppose there is no need to wait anymore. This place do that a lot?"
7
Sidon waved his uninjured hoof at the other stallion, "Hey Mage, how's it going? Just had a little accident, no big."
He glanced over at the shattered fountain then back at Mage. "You wouldn't happen to know a repair spell would you?" he asked with a half-hearted laugh.

((Major edit, first post was waaaay too long. Not that this is much better X3))

Sidon winced as he sat up on his haunches, yanking out a large shard of masonry embedded in his shoulder with his teeth. He dropped the bloodstained fragment to the ground and let out a sigh of relief. "There, that's better."
He looked up, taking in the destruction caused by his botched spell. "This on the other hoof...this could be problematic." All that remained of the once grand fountain was a cracked stone foundation with water bubbling up through it.
"And obviously it's too great a miracle to ask that nopony heard that," he thought aloud as the sound of approaching hooves soon became apparent.
9
A thunderous explosion followed by a peal of lightning rang throughout the academy grounds, visibly rattling the windows of those buildings nearest the source, though mercifully not breaking any of them.
Soon after came the sound of angry, raised voices, "You dolt! How did you manage to screw that up?"
Rona wasn't even bothering to berate him with thoughts, she was just screaming at him.
"Me?! You're the one who thought it would be interesting to see what would happen if you lit a fire under my hooves while I was performing a concentration-based spell!"
"Well this is just buck-tastic! Now we- wait...wasn't there a fountain there earlier?"
*audible facehoof*
10
He nodded, dipping his pen into it's inkwell once more and returning to his notes.
11
((lol))

The stallion lowered his hoof, "If all things are made up of these base elements then couldn't one theoretically manipulate even living creatures themselves?"
12
Sidon raised a hoof after jotting down these last statements.
13
Sidon looked up from his map once more, hearing hoof steps, and saw Mage following after another group of ponies. He caught up to them with ease and soon found himself in front of the very classroom he needed. "That was...unnaturally convenient."
He walked in and took a seat in the second row, re-materializing his heavy book and setting it gently in front of himself along with his other supplies.
14
Sidon dematerialized his heavy tome with a thought, slipping it into the small dimensional pocket he kept tethered to himself. "There's no need to apologize, I was the careless one. I really shouldn't be walking around with my head buried in a book."
"I'll say."
He glared at Rona for a moment sending a tiny static jolt through her legs, not enough to be lethal, just send her sprawling.  "Yes I quite agree, this academy is very large, and one wrong turn can see you lost for hours. Even with one of these maps I still can't find the Elemental Magic classroom. Oh, pardon me, my name is Sidon, Sidon Darkstorm."
15
Sidon trotted through the academy's hallways, a large book being levitated in front of him along with his map of the school. Rona was asleep on his back, her head under one wing, having stayed up the entire night doing...nothing in particular, as usual.
The stallion kept up a steady pace letting his magic act as a proximity field to warn him if he was about to run into something while reading. Which would have worked if he was paying any attention whatsoever to it's warning, which he wasn't, and subsequently found himself toppling over something which felt a good deal like another pony, largely due to the fact that it was Mage.
16
Sidon looked at the ticket gripped in his telekinetic field, "Huh, whaddya know. I completely forgot it was Nightmare Night!"
Rona scoffed, "Well duh! It's the same time as last year? So what're we gonna do? Scare the living hay outta somepony? Go and eat candy until we pass out? Scare the living hay outta somepony?!"
"Study."
She looked at him as if he were insane, beak hanging agape, "I'm out of here."
With that she took off and flew down the corridor until she was out of sight.
"Knew that would get rid of her. Time for a good old fashioned Nightmare Night."
The stallion chuckled to himself and walked on, already thinking of the many pranking opportunities he would have before the night was over. "I think Canterlot will do for this year," he thought deviously.
17
Sidon was so engrossed in studying his map that he didn't even notice the exchange. That is until a sharp peck from Rona alerted him. "Ow! Hey, what was that for?" He thought angrily to his familiar.
She gave him an exasperated look, or at least as exasperated as a hawk can manage and pointed a wing in the direction of the new arrival. He turned to see just what she was indicating so emphatically. His eyes widened in surprise as he caught sight of the mare standing nearby.
"Whoa...she's tall."
*facewing*
Sidon took one last look at the map then slipped it into his saddlebags and, thanking the secretary, headed for the door, giving the pegasus a polite smile and a "hello" as he passed her. Rona in the meantime was being rather direct in staring at the mare's bedraggled appearance and continued to watch as she was carried past on Sidon's back.
18
"Wow, okay. Thanks!" Sidon grasped the quill in his mouth and began to fill in the indicated documents.
"That's efficiency for you," he thought to Rona.
"Whatever, all I want to know is where I can get some food in this dump."
"That's all you ever want to know."
Her only reply was an indignant peck on his skull.
Finished, he levitated the papers back to the mare.
19
A tall, lean stallion in a hooded cloak trotted purposefully up to the academy gates and stopped before them, gazing up in wonder.  A small hawk swooped low and alighted on his shoulder, letting out a little squawk before speaking telekinetically to the stallion.
"This can't really be the place we're looking for, can it Sidon? I mean, it looks a little...plain."
The stallion in question turned his head to look at his Familiar, "No Rona, this is it. Just because it doesn't look grandiose by your standards doesn't mean it's not."
"Oh come on, even Azoria Sionis looks fancier than this place!"
He shook his head, "Rona, Azoria Sionis hasn't looked like anything in particular for three-hundred years. It's a ruin."
"Yeah, and it still looks better!"
Sidon rolled his eyes in exasperation and trotted through the gates. "Come on, let's find out where we need to be."

Once inside the academy the stallion, pulling off his hood and slowing his pace, took some time to get his bearings. "I suppose we should look for the administration office."
His familiar, busy preening herself, ignored him. He sighed, then sat down to think for a moment, eyes darting around to look down the various corridors.
"Aha," he exclaimed and stood up, "this is the perfect opportunity to test that spell I've been working on!"
"Ha! Yeah, because it'll definitely go much better than the last time. We were lucky to get out of there alive, or at least you were."
He glared daggers at his familiar for a moment, then brought his focus back to the task at hoof. Closing his eyes, a look of concentration slipped onto his visage and a small glow began to emanate from beneath his mane where a unicorn's horn would normally be located. After a moment a small pool of light formed around the stallion's hooves, swirling and floating as though it were liquid and gas at the same time, though in truth it was neither. It then began to twist and elongate, then suddenly shot down one of the hallways, leaving a lightly gleaming trail along the floor in it's wake.
Sidon opened his eyes and broke into a broad grin. "Told you it'd work," he gloated.
"That remains to be seen," she replied grumpily.
Still smiling, the earth pony excitedly took off down the hallway indicated by his spell.

Many thanks!
