Indeed I am honored to meet such a merited individual.
I am here thanks to Stratos, an old friend of mine in the royal guard. He gave his ticket to me, as he was unable to attend himself.
I wouldn't know the details, though he is my friend as a member of the royal guard he cannot discuss matters of imperial security.
As for my own reasons, I heard that the Gala had an air of eloquence. Of course I also heard about the Gala that went out of hoof. Either outcome is palatable for me.
My friend Cloudy Zenith speaks quite highly of the academy, though I have not heard much about inter-magical forces.
Perhaps you would care to enlighten me on the subject?

Yes, it is often evidenced in fantastic creatures and some phenomena. Coincidentally, I utilize technology to emulate magic; my wings and horn are artificial.
This is seemingly inverse to your own field of study. I make magic with machines, you make machines with magic.

Feather smiled.  "Reversibility is an important part of any study of arcane science.  In fact, one of the original reasons I founded the field was to explore the possibility of mass-producing machines which would allow Earth Ponies to have access to unicorn magic."

Well, my technomancy does give me, an earth-pony, magic of a sort. Though it is still tempered by the laws of science, and I can only use spells if I can figure out a way to emulate them.
Sometimes I feel like a warlock of old, discovering the spells that unicorns use without a thought today.
And the process of integrating the technology with myself is irreversible and invasive not to mention very painful. But these things we learn from our successes and our failures lead to progress.
Mayhap one day my technomancy or your inter-magical forces will lead to a more palatable solution.

Feather smiled.  "Indeed.  We owe much to the giants who went on before us, taking on the toil and pain of experimentation and failure, great and small."

As the professor walks away, Voidwalker goes to a corner to mull over this discussion of science.
He gives of an aura of pensiveness and calculation, somewhat tempered by his gaudy clothing and flushed face (remember the hot sauce).

Feather sighed as he returned to his drink.  It was so difficult to find academics among the elites of Canterlot that the joy of finding three in the past several moments was still on him.

Voidwalker heads to the refreshment table to mix up another concoction. He decide to have a salted and peppered citrus punch.
