Pinkie had WAY too much candy yesterday. Combine that with Unity physics and things get a little crazy...

Pinkie Pie on too much sugar

Spoiler: show

This was the speed glitch. I zoned in from the farm and was moving at super-sonic speed, so I decided to see what the table which sent my foals flying would do. We all had a good time and zoning of course fixed the bug.

This is for all of our wonderful bat-ponies in LoE! Yes, I enjoy these once a month.

For Bat-Ponies

*EDIT*

This was in reference to the following.

Echo's Fruit Rampage

Love the bat-ponies!

So Pinkie wanted to go swimming but we needed water and lettuce, so we compromised...

Swimming on land

This is easily reproducible and I can show you how. I haven't filed a bug report because it harms nothing. No advantage is gained. It is just funny. If the devs want a video of this being done I can file a bug report.

These ponies look strangely familiar...

I am not sure what the playerbase uses for storage, but it is fairly common knowledge that HDDs are slowest but most reliable, SSDs are a hair faster, and M.2 NVME is by a wide margin, the fastest storage. However, there IS a storage medium that is faster than NVME and you have it in every computer out there. RAM. Your memory is much faster than any storage medium, but the contents are lost when you power down, unlike data stored on HDD, SSD, or M.2 NVME.

A trick we had back in the days of DOS and Windows 9X for those of us with copious amounts of memory was to create a disk in memory, referred to as a RAM disk. We would then put games or slow-loading programs into the RAM disk and run them form there. This resulted in the games loading nearly instantly since memory was far faster than any IDE HDD back then. Due to this, I did a test with LoE and thought I would share the results. First, my system!

Core i7-6950X
128Gb Quad-Channel DDR4
RTX 2080 Ti 11GB
Creative Ae5
1TB WD Blue HDD (SATA3) for OS (Win 7 Pro 64bit)
4 x 1TB WD Black HDD (SATA3) in RAID10 for normal games like LoE
1TB M.2 NVME for big games like Ark Survival Evolved

LoE resides on my BTRFS RAID10 array and has great loading times normally, but I decided to take 8GiB (8192MiB) of my RAM and make a RAM disk. I then copied LoE into the disk, which was formatted as NTFS, and my goodness the loading screens are non-existent. I used ImDisk to create the RAM disk. It is free to use and works in about everything since XP. If you have 12GB or more memory in your computer, this is a way for even the slowest PC to really perform better.

LoE uses over 5GB of storage, so you would need a 6GiB RAM disk minimum. After you create the disk, just copy LoE over and run the file there. Hope it helps somebody out who may not be able to afford a fancy new M.2 stick but has some RAM to spare!

6GiB = 6144MB
8GiB = 8192MB

I believe I found the missing foal. Snowy CloudDancer took him!

I was asked to take a screenshot last night so I took it. The image is 2560x1440 and may take a moment to load on slower connections. Just ignore the fact that Adam Dash is burning Mockery's face with a torch...

Foals on A Bench

I have done eleven foal-only quests thus far including two not mentioned on the wiki page linked below (Cloud Race and Knead For Speed, not sure if foal-only) and Windhover is still trying to convince me not to grow up because I may miss something. Is this just bad dialogue or am I missing a quest? Quests I completed, listed in the same order as they are in my journal.

  • A Treat For Taffy
  • Justice's Blind Eye
  • Can You Hear Me Now?
  • Cloud Race
  • Eye Sore
  • Foal Speed Ahead
  • Knead For Speed
  • Welcome To Equestria
  • Trouble Stoppers
  • An Equestrian Werepony In The Evershade
  • A Wolf In Horse Clothing

As per the wiki, linked below, I have done all of the foal-only quests, and the wiki doesn't mention "Cloud Race" or "Knead For Speed", though I am not sure if they are foal-only. Have I missed something or is Windhover's dialogue just incomplete or something? The unicorn and earth pony instructors never made me feel like I was forgetting something.

I thought I would share that I managed to get LoE working on my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G just now. I will post some screenshots later, after I work on it some more. Now I can play LoE wherever, without hauling around a tower containing many heavy parts! Has anybody else tried this yet?

Here we go. I took two quick screenshots. They are slightly blurry, but it works!

Am I just slow or is there no talent quest as a foal for science? I have a unicorn that has completed all of the known foal-only quests and I want to graduate, but I want her to use science. I already have a unicorn that is a master of magic *cough*Twilight*cough* and thus do not need another.

So I pop on and off throughout the week and rarely see any other players. If I do, it is groups of level 50 players. I also tend to notice that I tend to be segregated into my own instance of the world. If I use the drop-down I see five to seven players in the other one, and me all alone in the one I am in. Is there a reason for this? I'd kind of like to find somebody to play with once in a while. I'm east coast USA.

Something odd happening today. Tried logging in and got a message instead of an actual server list. It said there was an error with my items. I deleted "items.xml", started the game again, and got the same error. Then I deleted the entire data folder and tried again, same thing. It appears to download "items.xml" from the server and then fail it. I have been removing these files and folders from my AppData/LocalLow/LoE folder, not the actual game folder. The game worked flawlessly last week when I played and it always has.

So what can I do here?
