Title: Any Kirby fans on the forums?
Post by: Rissian on 2012 Oct 03, 01:01:10
I love almost every Kirby game that has been made, they are always simple carefree and fun to randomly play. So I was wondering if anyone on the forums has played any of the Kirby games as well.

The ones I've played are.
Kirby's dreamland 1-3
Kirby Super Star and Super Star Ultra.
Kirby Squeak Squad
Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
Kirby 64 The Crystal Shards
Kirby return to dreamland.

Super Star and Return to dreamland are my current favorite games in the series.   ^-^

This is probably one of my favorite boss battle themes in the entire series.

I LOVE Kirby games, I have a lot of them. :P And because I have the 20th anniversary game, I have even more. ovO I have completed some before the 20th anniversary game came out. And 100% means I technically finished the game, not by achievements but I will put 100% Everything next to the game I TOTALLY beat, with achievements.
Kirby's Dreamland 1 100%
Kirby's Adventure
Kirby's Dreamland 2
Kirby Super Star
Kirby's Dreamland 3
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards 100% Everything
Kirby Air Ride 100%
Kirby Canvas Curse
Kirby Squeak Squad 100% Everything
Kirby Super Star Ultra 100% Everything
Kirby's Epic Yarn 100%
Kirby Mass Attack
Kirby's Return To Dreamland 100%

Only 8 more games to go! ovO
Good thing they sell some Kirby games on the 3DS.
I also love that they brang back Smash Kirby in the 20th anniversary.

I think the only games I've 100% completed are Super Star Ultra and Super Star for the SNES. They are my main favorites in the series.

Nah, I can't stand those games.

...But really, they're great. I tried to 100% Super Star (best game in the series, IMO) within the last year, but got stuck on that one stupid treasure in The Great Cave Offensive in the cloudy area.  DD:

Agh, the treasure I got stuck on was the stupid chest hidden beneath a water bridge I eventually found it, but it took forever.

That one took me longer that wish i could admit, but honestly,i've spent far more time figuring out there was second ending to crystal shards :l
I kept raging as a kid because that faery looked at a shard in the ending video.Eventually i went for the 100% and found out! And,silly me,i didn't know there was a kirby superstar until it came out on the wiishop,my favorite in the series now! ^-^

I also love how Kirby 20th anniversary is rated E10+ because it says animated blood. SO ZERO'S AND ZERO-TWO'S RED LIQUID REALLY IS BLOOD! O: My question was answered.

I always love how the final boss is always radically different from the rest of the way the game looks. Soul Marx Marx Nightmare and whatever the big chinned dude is in Amazing mirror.

And how the final boss themes always sound serious compared to the rest of the games music it really makes them memorable.
Spoiler: music spoiler • show

I don't think anything beats the Marx theme though.

Well in my opinion, I like the Zero-Two((02)) battle music better.
Oh yeah, and the "Chinned dude" is Dark Mind.

Maybe Marx 2's theme from superstar ultra?Nothing freaks me the hell out more than final bosses music, hell, nothing freaks me more than last level music too.You go trough 90% of the game in kirby's friendly environment and THEN you get the big hiccup that makes you realise how serious the quest was! Milky way wishes felt more like holliday traveling until i collected all stars...

Ugh Marx Soul that was a nightmare for me in the True Arena. Not to mention right after fighting Galactic Knight which if you didn't plan ahead you would likely not have much life left for Soul Marx.

More serious music from Kirby.

But yeah the quest getting serious at the end is what's awesome about Kirby games, makes you want to take down the villains.

Well I forgot to mention about Kirby Air Ride on my last post too which I also have. I happen to Clear all the checklists on both Top Ride and City Trial. City Trial is one of my Favorites in Kirby Air Ride. My Favorite Air Ride Machine would be Wheelie Scooter, Wagon Star, Wing Star, Shadow Star, and Dragoon.

If you mean by the new Kirby Games, don't you mean Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Kirby's Dream Collection? those are the recent ones I know about.

Ah,kirby air ride...It was so fun to finish it 100%.Well,TRYING,is more the word! Its the closest nintendo got to "Achievement=Reward" that Xbox seems to be using.I'm glad nintendo didn't do any other games like that.Games are completable at nintendo!

Kirby air ride is the "longest" fun iv'e had.

Kirby's adorable. I have played Kirby.

I have Kirby's Return to Dreamland, and Kirby's Epic Yarn. I wasn't very fond of Kirby's Epic Yarn but Return to Dreamland was so fun and I completed everything 100%. Personally, I like sword and wing Kirby the best, and crash is fun to use.  :D

Return to Dreamland Extra Mode is actually a challenge they cut your life in half, and make the bosses harder to defeat. The downside is you have to beat normal mode for the extra mode.

I did! :D
When my bro and i bought it the clerk told us theres no point in having this game with just two the of us,so i bought those multiplayer cables and became king of the world for a day at school! Its both crazy and fun to run around on your own and suddenly run into another kirby, then you both go on together!Like in those RPGs,kirby #2 joined you'r party!
Multiplayer  kirby is the best kind of kirby in my opinion!

I don't think anyone has mentioned Canvas Curse yet; that one was way better than I expected, and probably the only recent Kirby game I've 100%'d.
Title: Re: Any Kirby fans on the forums?
Post by: KirbyFluttershy on 2012 Oct 04, 20:53:11
Kirby Canvas Curse is pretty much challenging to me and it's hard for me to 100% on it. I've only 100%'d on Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra, Kirby 64, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Kirby's Return To Dreamland, Kirby's Adventure / Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, Kirby Squeak Squad, and Kirby & The Amazing Mirrors.

As for the abilities, I'd Say Smash ability is better, but when it comes to using it for combat use in kirby's dream collection, it's pretty much tough to use compared to the kirby & the amazing mirrors. When I think about the smash ability making a comeback to Kirby's Dream Collection, my thoughts were telling me that the smash ability in kirby's dream collection was pretty much a test ability and then the next time they release this ability on another kirby game along with Master Hand, probably both ability and the mini-boss will make that comeback.

I'm going to try and unlock the True Arena on return to dreamland. Seems like it would be fun to mess around with as the Super Star Ultra True Arena was challenging I've only beat it once or twice.  ovO
Title: Re: Any Kirby fans on the forums?
Post by: KirbyFluttershy on 2012 Oct 05, 01:11:41
I cleared True Arena on Kirby Super Star Ultra, but that was the challenging part. in kirby's return to dreamland's true arena, it's pretty much tough so i used my last resort ability, tornado to do the job. my friend said that tornado ability is one of the broken abilities like you're invulnerable to attacks while you're spinning till you stop.

Canvas curse highly surprised me,most Ds games were like the GBA ones, small in size but long to finish. But canvas curse had so much content it was believeable!Usually 2D kirby games have the same recipe;Inhale, attack, repeat. And this game bought a whole new turn that no one was expecting, well,i wasn't.I never completed it and i never finished the story either. It was one of those games that didn't apeal to me,much like epic yarn...I regret it now that i have lost the game card. :c

Leaf Ability isn't that cheap. As I used the ability in The normal (or Regular) Arena, it doesn't do much damage. the cheapest abilities i know for normal arena are Ninja, Hammer, and Tornado.

Some people say return to dreamland is that game, but massively changed. not sure how accurate that is but it seems to fit since both were 4 players.
Title: Re: Any Kirby fans on the forums?
Post by: KirbyFluttershy on 2012 Oct 05, 15:40:55
it's not even that fun when you're playing solo, but when it comes to desperate mesaures, co-op is probably only way to get through the game. for me, i did co-op on extra mode in kirby's return to dreamland due to half health and more health on bosses. 4 players is more fun to play the game, but my friend said that he wanted the game to be more of a online wi-fi game for 4 players.
Title: Re: Any Kirby fans on the forums?

I've heard that too when it came out tough it would take some looking-into before affirming anything...Might not even the same ram bases at all,but it does have more than similar textures thats for sure... :l
Putting aside technical stuff i haven't touched in years,i agree when your friend says it should have been online. But if it is the same game, advanced as it seemed in the trailers maybe they couldn't just "add" wi-fi features?

Agh, finding the candy constellation was incredibly hard for me I always seemed to pass it by.
Title: Re: Any Kirby fans on the forums?
Post by: KirbyFluttershy on 2012 Oct 05, 19:41:17
Candy Constellation was easy to find. All I did was brought the missile ability to moonlight mansion and skipped the path to the king golem boss. In Kirby & The amazing mirrors, I always go for vitality boost first before exploring any other areas and of course unlocking all the portals to the areas as well. I always keep the smash ability so i can do both offense and defense.

out of the worst abilities for me to handle was stone ability, but in kirby's return to dreamland, i don't even have to turn into stone which is an exception. that reason was that enemies can damage you where you are after attacking.

I'm just sad i didn't get to it earlier.Did you know when other kirbys fin a new area, its map is not displayed on your screen? If theyr deeper in the dungeon they appear in blank spots of the map...But jokes on THEM! its my game,so i kept the treasures! ovO

i remember Triple D's theme in kirby's return to dreamland and not to mention that stage too. the stage is a little similar to the rainbow resort stage 2 from kirby's adventure / kirby: Nightmare in dreamland, but when i entered that stage the 2nd time, i took the extra life route after what i learned and discovered that route from kirby's adventure / Kirby: Nightmare in dreamland and it's the perfect route for farming lives instead of doing the challenge stages for 1-3 lives. for farming extra lives, i normally take that route or do sword challenge stage and get platinum medal for 3 lives.

I finally got the True Arena in return to dreamland. Extra mode's final boss was a nightmare until I tried out spark and found out how awesome that ability is against the final boss.

But seeing all the EX titled bosses True Arena is not easy at all, I'm not sure but it may be harder then Super Star Ultras True Arena especially if you have to fight the final boss again and the extra boss. o_o
