You are a new recruit or transfer to Fort Donewell, which is under the command of Sargent Match Stick. This fortress is built right into the Macintosh Mountains, and acts as a training facility for both Border Security to the Badlands, and to continue the training of highly credited Guardsponies. Those that stay to become Border Guards don't have to go far, as Fort Donewell is just a pebbles throw down the mountain form the border. With the badlands being just a stones throw away, and the uncertainty that comes with joining the ranks of the Royal Guard, this wont be an experience that you're going to be forgetting soon.

Match Stick never missed rotation day. The saying of goodbyes to the graduates, and the welcoming of the new recruits and transfers, it was all too much to miss. Even he had to let go a sigh of disappointment at the sight of the caravan of new Guardsponies and old friends disappearing off into the horizon. So with his cache of Ace Guardsponies depleted, Match waits anxiously at his desk for the first of the newbies to arrive.
maple arrived with his cart full of equipment, after giving his orders to his assistant he walked over to the hq to go great the commanding officer
Stacks of papers line Sergeant Match Stick's large oak desk. He raises his head to meet the gaze of Maplewood as he enters Match's office. "Please sit down and make yourself comfortable," he says while indicating towards a chair on the opposite side of the desk as him.
"is that how you great an old friend" maple chuckled sitting down
"Don't be expecting any favoritism due to our past, Maplewood, I have a state of discipline to keep in order. That being said, I am glad that you took me up on my offer to join me here at Fort Donewell."

Chuckleing even more "yeah that's what I expected"
"Well, this is the place," Book Keeper said aloud, taking in Fort Donewell. It looked pretty impressive for a Royal Guard base, as far as she could tell.
"I'm a new recruit here," she told a guard pony standing at the entrance, handing him her official papers. "I've been assigned to Corporal Autumn Leaf."
"Right this way ma'am," the Guardspony replies, leading Book Keeper towards a door with a brass plaque reading "Corporal Autumn Leaf".
"Thanks," Book said to the guardspony. She knocked on the door, feeling a little nervous.
"Come in," the starkly feminine voice of Col. Autumn Leaf calls out.
Book entered the office; there was a mare in uniform sitting behind a desk. Unsure of what she should do, she nevertheless saluted and said:
"Recruit Book Keeper reporting for duty, ma'am!"
"well I better get over to the lab and help unpack things then " maple sighed getting up and giving a simple salute out of respect as he are it down the hallway. As he walked he couldn't help but wonder if match was stressed out
"Very good Book Keeper, but lets leave the formalities until after I become your superior officer, shall we? Now if you'd just sign these papers here, you can be on your way to basic training." Col. Leaf pushes a stack of papers across her desk to Book Keeper. Each place requiring a signature on the pages is clearly labeled.
Book nodded, and got straight to work signing the forms. She was surprised at the sheer number of them.
"Ugh, how many more are there?" Book groaned after the fifteenth paper.
"You're done most of it, and if mere paperwork has gotten you begging for mercy, then I do question your ability to complete basic training."
Book rolled her eyes at the corporal's comment, but kept silent, and was soon done.
"There! Now what?"
"Now what, ma'am." Autumn corrects before continuing the orientation and assignment by saying, "Welcome to the Royal Guard Pvt. Keeper, you are to report to basic training in the area indicated by the map provided in the briefing pamphlet and accompanying Royal Guard Handbook Vol. XXIII.5." Col. Leaf then hands Book a pamphlet and a large book with the prescribed title. "You are dismissed."
The pamphlet shows that basic training happens in the western wing of the fort. It shouldn't take too long to get there provided the halls aren't too congested.
as maple enters his new laboratory his assistant runes over to great him"hey boss how did it go" he asked a little curious" it could have been better, Match seams to have a lot on his mind" maple replied moving out of the way of a unicorn guard who was moving a heavy box.
Book nodded, and left immediately. Once outside, she concentrated slightly; the low glow from her horn was absorbed by a dark hole that appeared in front of her. She levitated the book inside, then closed it.
"Hmm," Book mused as she leafed through the pamphlet. "So that's where it is."
She immediately headed in the direction of the western wing, intending to be on time.

Quick Silver approached the rather impressive Fort Donewell. She carried nothing but a fairly small saddle bag, containing a few neccesities. She took over the sight of the Fort, feeling quite small compared to the building. She took a deep breath, and looked over to a guardpony standing by the entrance.
She approached calmly, and cleared her throat quickly and quietly before speaking.
"Excuse me? I'm a new recruit, and I'm not sure where to go. I've been assigned to Sergeant Match Stick, and I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction?" She requested, smiling politely.

"Right that way Sir," the guard replies, pointing out Sargent Match Stick's office to Quill.
"well its time to get to work "maple said with a excited look and with a simple blare of a horn a dozen or so scientists walked in and began to work on multiple projects
Chibalt looked up at the fort as he approached, albeit still paying enough attention not to slip on a wayward rock or something else while he looked at it, grumbling a little to himself that this was probably the most inconvenient place for someone like himself to be sent to, though he had agreed to it and all when enrolling for the guard so he didn't have anyone to blame but himself. At least he had decided to go there packing lightly, only really carrying with him a few cloaks along with his currently disassembled quarterstaff, a few small blank diary books and then some writing supplies just in case, never hurt having it even if it might not be needed.
Well, not my first time in a fort I guess, hopefully I won't have to deal with as many things trying to attack me for little reason. He muttered to himself, chuckling at his own little joke before heading in, stopping a guardspony who didn't look too busy for directions. "Do you know where Colonel Autumn Leaf's office is? Recruit, don't really know my way around yet." He asked/explained calmly, though with being a hoof or so higher than the guard it was a little awkward to look down for that, likely quite the same counting for the guard looking up too.

The guard points Chibalt in the direction of Col. Autumn Leafs's office, and chuckles as Chibalt walks away.
(Specifying there being a map or a pamphlet with a map handed out to those going to the fort might be good then so you can skip the whole asking for directions phase.)
Chibalt huffed as he walked towards the office, being taller, and larger too, than the average by so much made some things a little awkward, including that. He paused outside the door to her office to right his saddlebags and also run a hoof through his hair, though it didn't do much to his hair, only making it slightly less ruffled-looking than the usual, another few seconds, then he knocked on the door a few times before opening it slowly. Autumn Leaf, right? I hope I'm not intruding on anything. He said as he walked in, closing the door behind him gently while looking at the mare.
(That's what I get for making assumptions.)
"The only inconvenience you are causing me is your horrendous punctuality," Autumn opens the conversation with. She then motions towards the chair opposite her, indicating to Chibalt that he was expected to sit there.
Chibalt chuckled at that, walking over to the chair and sitting down on it fairly casually. Judging by the looks of things this hasn't really done much save delay this happening by what... a minute or so? He said, finishing with a shrug while still seated on the chair.
Col. Autumn did not take Chibalt's comment well. "Mr. Wind, I have but to show you the door in order to have your recruitment denied. We do not tolerate any form of insubordination on this Fort, so I suggest you show more respect!"
Chibalt's expression almost instantly changed into a frown. Very well, Colonel, may I get the paperwork to fill in then? He said, his first impressions of the mare taking a quite immediate nosedive, he could foresee mutual dislike in the future, likely plenty of it too, for now he just wanted to get this over with.
"You may," Col. Leaf says, pushing the papers towards Chibalt.
Chibalt simply took the papers and started filling them in, skimming through the text on each page and signing it, generally taking a few seconds on each page before signing and moving onto the next, frowning all the while, though that was more due to Leaf's disposition towards him. Done, what next Colonel?
"Report to basic training Private, and do try to be on time." She also hands Chibalt the pamphlet outlining the basic layout of the fort, and the weighty manual that was standard issue for all members of the Royal Guard.
Chibalt nodded and took the pamphlet, glancing at it before also accepting the manual, glancing at the pamphlet again before putting both away in his saddlebags and getting up from the chair, walking right out the door. Now I'm unsure if I enrolled for being a guard or for being tormented in Tartarus, a mare like that blurs those lines more than I like... He muttered to himself in frustration about halfway to basic training, itching for something to distract himself with so he wouldn't be in a bad mood too.
Quick Silver smiled again, and thanked the guard before walking in the direction she had been pointed. The mare eventually found her way to the office of Sergeant Match Stick. She lifted a hoof, and knocked twice, then stepped back and waited to be called in.
"You may enter now recruit," a voice calls out from within the office.
Quick Silver entered, forcing her building nerves away. She wasn't quite sure how to properly introduce herself, but went ahead with the best that came to mind. "Greetings Sir. Quick Silver, reporting for duty." she spoke in a steady tone, standing as tall as she could.
"At ease Silver, you're not a Guardsman yet," Sgt. Match says with a chuckle. "Not until after you sign these papers at least." He says while pushing a stack of legal documents towards Quick Silver.
"Hello?" Book called out as she entered the western wing. "Private Book Keeper, here for basic training!"
A gruff looking stallion with a purple coat and green uniform stands in the middle of the courtyard, a good 50 yards away from Book. His oversized helmet covers his eyes, leaving only his snout and scruff bordered mouth for a visible face. "Basic Training will begin, when I say it begins!" He then throws something at his feet which proceeds to explode and launch the stallion into the air and towards Book. "Yyyyeeeeehhhhhhaaaaa!!!" he shouts during flight. Landing directly in front of Book he shouts, "Basic training begins now Private, so drop and give me 20!"
"SIR YES SIR!" Book shouted, a little startled by the stallion's sudden appearance. She immediately dropped and started doing push-ups.
Quick Silver nodded, and sat down. She began going through the documents, reading the information and signing where she needed to. Though it was a rather tiresome task, she understood it had to be done, and got through it calmly. It took a good few minutes to get through the stack, but she was rather relieved to be done when she was.
Maple decided to go have a walk while his team sorted thought the equipment, he began the tour at the HQ then started to wander around
Sgt. Match Stick collects the papers and, after making sure everything was in order, says "Now let me be the first pony to congratulate you on becoming a Royal Guard, Pvt. Silver." Sgt. Match then hands Pvt. Silver the standard issue pamphlet and handbook, as well as instructing her to go to Basic Training in the western courtyard.
Chibalt walked into the courtyard quietly, glancing around and quickly spotting the gruff stallion wearing what looked like a helmet several sizes too big watching a mare doing pushups, the odd sight of the helmet size making him chuckle slightly before stifling it, hoping the odd-looking oversized-helmet stallion hadn't heard it.
"And just what might you be laughing at?" the pony shouts at Chibalt.
A joke I just remembered Sir! Chibalt replied , inwardly hoping this pony wasn't as no-nonsense as that Leaf mare, though he wasn't particularly worried about consequences, nor even there being a harder version of being through basic training, he just wasn't sure if he could still be able to not call this living tartarus if he had to deal with ponies like that every single day.
Supplies on her back, Lunar arrives at Fort Donewell, a scowl still on her face. After conversing with one of the present guards, she makes her way to the waiting area of Colonel Autumn Leaf.
Infinity walks into Fort Donewell. He looks at the sign.
"Fort Donewell. Yep this is the place." said Infinity. He walks in and sits next to a batpony in the waiting area.
"Hello," She says in greeting, trying to suppress her annoyance about being there.
"Well then, don't be shy lad. Tell us all this joke you were thinking about. If it's any good, I might consider giving you only ten push-ups to start with."

The door to Col. Leaf's office is wide open, awaiting the entrance of Lunar.
*Oh, alright. Didn't know it was open.
Realizing the fact that there was no time for conversation, she begrudgingly trotted into the office, closes the door, and sits down.
"Guess its my turn next." said Infinity. He layed back on his pack. His feet were killing him after all of the walking.
"Good to know at least one pony knows how to show up on time. Now here, please sign these papers and I can send you off to meet the Drill Sargent and the recruits," Autumn says pushing the stack of papers over to Lunar.
(Would you prefer Lunar to be referred to as a he or as a she?)
*It's up to the pony conversing with him, which leads to my character either correcting or ignoring.
"No interview? No questions? I suppose it's because you know I have no choice, hm?" He inquires spitefully.
*I guess I should start saying He, not She, since technically he's a he.
"Do Do do Do do do do." Infinity sat there moving his hooves around.
"If you weren't going to be accepted, then you wouldn't have been invited."
Infinity could hear every single word that was going on in the office.
"Wow the walls are SO thin..." said Infinity. He was SO bored right now. Sure it had only been 5 minutes, but he was never the patient type. He took a bouncy ball out of his pack and bounced it against the wall.
"I wasn't invited, if you read my file. I'll sign the paperwork, because I must, but do know I'm no lapdog to the Royal Guard," She states, signing her signature.
'JUST LEAVE THE ROOM!" thought Infinity to himself. He continued to bounce the ball up against the wall.
Chibalt huffed, darn. A pony walks into a bar, nothing happens, he walks out of the bar and everyone freaks out because he physically is a ghost. Never said it was a good joke Sir. He said, it was passable enough in his opinion, and could maybe make him chuckle if by surprise, he was already guessing in his head though how many pushups the instructor would make him do, somewher between thirty and fifty likely for that bad joke.
Infinity begins to turn himself upside down and groan while still bouncing the ball. (The ball is important to him because it has his Cutie Mark on it.)

"...nineteen...twenty!" Book Keeper huffed. She slowly got up, sweat trickling down her brow.
Maple watched the basic training as it unfolded chuckling to himself

Quick Silver thanked the Sergeant, and went on her way. She found the training rather easily, and entered the training area.
She approached the stallion, confused by his oversized helmet, but overlooked it nonetheless. "Private Quick Silver, reporting for training." she introduced herself, standing as tall as she could. Despite not being a short pony, the atmosphere and location sure made her feel like it.
"Well luckily for you, we've got a comedian in the bunch! So why don't you join us for the show?" the Drill Sergeant barks, allowing Pvt. Keeper to regain her stance.
Infinity was getting hungry so he pulled out a sandwich. It was any ordinary sandwich (for ponies). Infinity was getting really exicted for some reason though. Mostly because he was going to become a guard (hopefully).
Quick Silver approached, rather cautiously. She'd always thoght herself to be a confident mare, but all of this made her feel anything but it. She took a deep breath, awaiting orders.

"And since your joke wasn't worth the interruption to YOUR training, DROP AND GIVE ME FIFTY, RECRUITS!"

But I don't have that many recruits in my saddlebags Sir! He joked, he couldn't help it, it was just too tempting to not make that joke, he was already doing pushups before even finishing making the joke however, he liked joking, yes, but he wasn't lazy, so reaching the 'requested' number wouldn't be too hard, though it would still be enough to make him sweat and his legs sting with exertion. At least the instructor wasn't as aggrevating as the Colonel had been to him, plus it gave him something else to think about.
Quick Silver almost blurted out an 'all of us?!', but decided it was best not to, and quickly dropped to the ground, beginning her pushups. She assumed that he had meant for all of them to do 50 pushups, and so planned to go ahead with it.
@Jcfraven "Don't get snarky with me.. Even if you aren't a recruit you are required to fill out this documentation, and given your history, this is the only chance you're going to get." Col. Leaf then hands over the standard pamphlet and handbook, as well as giving instruction to the where Basic Training was.

" isn't that a tad bit harsh sergeant?" maple asked looking a bit surprised from the side lines
Book groaned at the next amount, but she started doing them regardless.
"Guess it's my turn." said Infinity. He stood up and starting walking towards the door.
The purple stallion ignores Maple, and counts Chibalts push-ups.
"I'm honestly starting to find that jail may actually be a worthy alternative," He says back, finishing the rest of the documentation.
"Sergeant Nightfall better watch his back when I'm back.." He mumbles to himself.
Quick Silver continued with her own pushups, focusing all of her energy on not falling. She felt she was doing quite well, as she counted each push up in her head.
"Must I remind you that insubordination will not be tolerated? Now get out of my office, I have more worthy ponies to process today."
"And I have more worthy ponies to deal with today," He retorts, trotting out of the office towards the place everypony else was.
Infinity knocks on the office door of Col. Leaf hoping she will answer.
(Col. Leaf is a mare.)
"You may enter."
Infinity opens the door, walks in and sits at the table.
Autumn seems melancholy about doing this book work as she says, "Here's the papers to sign."
Infinity signs the paper neatly and tidy and hands them back to Col. Leaf. He wants to make a VERY good impression on the first day.
Lunar arrives where the other ponies are, and see them doing push-ups. She sighs, remembering the good days of being a fresh recruit, before going closer.
"I see this is push-up fest?" She asks sarcastically.
"Hope I did well." said Infinity.
"Well, well. Looks like somepony new has decided to join, what did you call it? Push-up fest."

"Here's your handbook and pamphlet, please report to the western courtyard for basic training."
"Yes Mam!" said Infinity. He salutes and walks off to the courtyard.
"I remember this from basic training, I see your training methods are similar to the Lunar Guard," He says, genuinely admiring as such.
Infinity walks into the training room and sees everypony there. He sees a pony with an oversized helmet.
"Well get ready to have some deja vu, because you're scheduled for a full course of Basic Training, Lunar, and no desert!" The Drill Seargent then looks over to see Infinity and says, "Well don't just stand there, drop and give me fifty Guardstallion!"
"I suppose that's my punishment for dedication to the cause," He says. "What would you like me to do at this time?" He inquires.
Maples assistant comes over to him "sir the team is ready to start on the project" he asked "yes good go tell them that they can start "
Infinity drops down to the floor and does 50 push-ups. He stands back up. (I'm trying to get in good with the drill sergeant.)
"I wan't you to sit back an relax while everypony else is doing push-ups!"
"That wouldn't be too fair to them though, now would it?" He asks, chuckling.
"If you insist, I won't, but I could at least help point out the faults of their form, such as the lad right there," He points to Infinity, after he completes his. "Didn't go low enough, needs to be straighter as well. It isn't grade school anymore, after all," He explains.
*Ah, using my instructor's words against another, interesting feeling.
Infinity just looks at him. He felt so much like saying something, but held off.

"Of course you can't just sit around! Now drop and give me a hundred!" the Drill Sergeant barks at Lunar.
"You look like there are words waiting to escape your mouth, out with it," He states to Infinity before hearing the next statement.
"Ah, there's the instruction I was looking for," He replies, before doing as commanded.
Infinity just looked down at Lunar.
'Yeah my push-ups are WAY worse than yours.' thought Infinity.
"If you're struggling with fifty push-ups already recruit, then maybe you should do fifty more to get your strength up!"
(I'm going to stop the push-ups soon, I'm just buying time in case anyone else joins.)
Upon completion of his 100, he spreads his wings and does a few aerial flips to cooldown.
Quick Silver finished her push up, panting a little as he steadied herself, standing upright again. She flicked her head, tossing a few loose strands of her mane away from her eyes.
'Is this pony trying to outdo everyone here?' thought Infinity to himself.
Chibalt had already gotten halfway through the 150 pushups, sweating and breathing heavy but looking to be holding up quite well, the stallion exhaling a little, blue flame at about his eightieth pushup, oddly seeming to perk up again a bit after that. As he finished up he stood back up again, slightly shaky but still standing, oh he just loved how his flames worked, they didn't even need to be visible to fix things such as tired muscles, not that it made him any less tired, it just felt less like his legs were about to fall off as he stood and watched the others, brushing some of his now sweat-soaked mane to the side, the cold now that he wasn't actively doing anything demanding, was quite refreshing, if a little chilly in his opinion.
(He's still tired, his flames just mitigate the physical effects somewhat.)
Infinity get on his two front hooves and does 50 push-ups. He gets back up and grins.
"Ungh." Book Keeper collapsed at the 101st pushup, breathing very heavily, sweating buckets.
"If you are all hoping for a break now, well too bad! Time to run son laps." The Drill Sergeant takes the lead and begins the run at a steady pace.
Lunar starts his own run beside that of the Sergeant.
"So, how long have you served the Royal Guard?" He inquires.
Chibalt huffed, giving his legs a quick stretch before following, keeping relatively steady pace but keeping behind by a good deal. Sorry about the extra pushups. He muttered to the collapsed, sweaty mare as he passed her during one of the laps.
Not able to spare the energy, Book simply gave the cobalt pony a nod. She slowly picked herself up off the ground, then began a slow trot, intending to pick up the pace when she had recovered somewhat.
"As long as I can remember! Though that's not saying much given all the trees I've crashed into."
"I understand that," He replies, chuckling.
"Ever dealt with other batponies, and/or the Lunar Guard itself?" He asks.
Quick Silver sighed, and began with the laps. She was aching badly already, and struggled to keep at the same pace. She took deep and heavy breaths as she and the other recruits ran.
Huffing and puffing, Book managed to start run at a respectable pace. Soon, she passed a recruit that was having trouble with the laps; she decided to keep pace with her.
"(huff) Hey, it'll be (puff) alright," Book tried to reassure the unicorn. "You can (gasp) do it!"
"Of course! Who do you think does all of the night shifts?"
Quick Silver smile cast a small smile to the mare at her side. "Thanks. You can make it through this too." she encouraged. The mare seemed to be even more out of breath than herself. Despite the fact she had gained the energy to speed up, Quick Silver chose to keep pace with the other unicorn, in case either of them needed help.
Infinity began with his laps. He was an Earth Pony, so running fast was a piece of cake for him.
"I must've never been around when you were then, I suppose," He replies, looking around the path.
"Where are we planning on going? An uphill would definitely test their strength and endurance," He continues.
"You are not yet qualified fort the 'uphill' run, and therefore are restricted to the confines of this courtyard until further notice." The Stallion leads the group in laps around the outer diameter of the courtyard.
(Again, just allowing miore time for others to join, and will be commencing a time skip past the boring training stuff for an adventure.)
"I think I myself am qualified enough, though I see your point," He says in response. Keeping the jog going.
"I used to be a Captain for the Lunar Guard, you know, until some of my 'compadres' decided to cause trouble, and accuse me of assault," He explains.
Infinity starts to pick up the pace and move VERY fast.
"Been a while since I've run." said Infinity.
"That's the spirit recruit, now grab a bag of rocks and try to keep up the pace!" the Drill Sergeant tells Infinity.
Chibalt continued the steady pace, occasionally slowing down slightly to jog with some who were having trouble keeping pace, giving them some friendly words of motivation and a few tips here and there for better running when he could see flaws. Personally he was rather glad he could do this though, if a little annoyed he'd accidentally made everyone else take more pushups, at least the jogging wasn't too bad, though the odd earth pony that started running faster did perplex him a bit though, that one would definitely tire himself out real fast.
Infinity picks up a bag of rocks out of nowhere and slings it on his back. He keeps his exact pace that he had before. However, he was getting tuckered out rather fast now.
After a short while, Book found her second wind; the running became slightly easier at that point.
"So what's your name?" she asked the unicorn.
"Now THIS is a workout." said Infinity. He was in front of all the other ponies and a batpony, even with more weight.
*That would mean also in front of the sergeant, just FYI.
Lunar notices Infinity, and chuckles, as he reminded him of himself during basic training.
"Seems to be doing good," He comments to the Sergeant, regarding Infinity.
*Well I am so far... But I'm going to slow down.
Infinity kept feeling the rocks weighing him down more and more he sped down and ended up next to the batpony from earlier.
*When did you..oh well.
"Glad you could rejoin us. I gave you a hi earlier before I dealt with Colonel Big Britches," He says.
"What's your name?" He continues in inquiry.
"Quick Silver." the mare replied. "And you are?" she asked, smiling in a friendly fashion.
"Me?" asked Infinity. He kept keeping pace.
*I was referring to Infinity.

"My names Infinity, nice to meet you!" said Infinity. He kept running next to the Batpony.
"Fascinating name. Your enthusiasm reminds me of myself, and how that ended up.." He says, eyes darkening.
"Don't sweat it. Just try to make this trip into a fun time." said Infinity. He speeds ahead of the batpony. You are wondering how this could be "fun" well Infinity loves hard work, so yeah.
"I'm Book Keeper, Baltimare's best knowledge broker!" Book exclaimed. She tried to strike a pose while running, but ending up tripping and falling over instead.
"On your hooves recruit, you're not scheduled for a break until 18:00!

Chibalt couldn't help but smirk a little as he saw the failure at a pose on the move, making a mental note to start chatting with some ponies soon, for now though he mostly just focused on running and keeping an even pace, it helped clear his mind and honestly was quite relaxing for him, the latter was probably somewhat because of how easily he could keep up the pace though.
"Ugh, yes sir." Book shook her head to clear it, then started running again.
Nightning Trotted Down To the Sgt. Match stick`s Office,Knocking on the door "Uh.. Um.. Hello?"

Infinity got into his "zone" he was running fast, but at a good pace.
"The doors not locked," Match Stick calls out to Nighting from behind his desk.
The Young pegasus Trotted in "Uh... Hello.. Im NightningGale. The Gaurds told me to come here,Sir...."
"Well you came to the right place. Please, take a seat. All the necessary papers are in order so the signing shouldn't take long."
"Im.. Sorry if i seem shy.. Im not used to a ton of ponies... And i have been dreaming about being in the gaurd for Years now"
"Yeah, you and most of the other ponies here. Now if you wouldn't mind signing these, I can get you on your way to achieving that dream." Sgt Match pushes the stack of papers towards NightingGale to sign.

Maple had returned from his daily walk and with a smirk watched the basic training continue to impress him "looks like a good set of guards right there" he told himself
Nightning was training Alot harder than the others,Praticing every Combat move she had learned over the days shes been there
(The current routine is running laps Dashie, not that it matters now. :P)
Basic training continues on for several grueling weeks before an announcement is made to interrupt the Physically taxing training regiment.
"This is Big G here with your morning announcements. The new recruits and transfers are to report to the front courtyard for today's training."
Lunar, hearing as such, does the usual aerial flips, cooling himself down, before briskly trotting to the front courtyard. He's grown quite comfortable with the Royal Guard so far, as they have treated the cadets with more dignity than the Lunar Guard, thus far.
"man what's with these constant interruptions" maple asked coming out of the research building his new titanium plated armour gleaming in the sun
Sgt. Match stands facing where the recruits and transfers will be coming from, with Col. Leaf on his left side, and Drill Sgt. Turnip on his left. Each member is wearing there custom made armor, with Sgt. Match's being the most ornate and decorated among them.
(FYI: Match is a Unicorn, Autumn is a Pegasus, and Lieutenant is an Earth Pony.)
Chibalt trotted calmly into the courtyard breathing out a few small wisps of blue flame as he did so, it had become somewhat of a habit for him now, occasionally train harder than usual then use little pulses of his flame to heal any damage or stiffness that resulted from it. Surprisingly he hadn't visually changed much from when he first came in, the required exercise being mostly just a step up from what he usually did and not much more, he had already made several friends among soldiers and recruits though due to his friendly personality to pretty much everyone but Colonel Leaf. Are we moving on to something else? Chibalt muttered to himself quietly.
"ah sergeant match why is it that you have had me called here as well you above all now how much my research is valves by M.E.R.C" he asks looking very tough in his titanium armour which was also decorated with bits of diamond plates

Infinity went to the courtyard on his two front hooves (he basically did hand stand all the way there). He gets back up and goes up against the wall.
"Wonder what we are doing today?" asked Infinity.

Book Keeper yawned as she trotted into the courtyard. Sure, she was starting to adjust, but that didn't mean that didn't want her regular sleep schedule back. She spied Quick Silver, and quickly made her way towards her.
"Hey, how are you doing?" Book yawned again as she fell into step with Quick.

With everyone gathered in the courtyard, Match begins the debriefing. "Today marks the last day of basic training for those of you that pass the final evaluation. You will all be doing a patrol of the border, and be evaluated on your performance. Any questions?"
Quick Silver smiled in greeting, but before she could say a good morning, an explanation was being given. She quickly turned her attention to the Sergeant. Once he had finished speaking, she found no questions. A mixture of excitement and nerves built within her for the final evaluation. It didn't sound too hard, she believe she could pass if she did everything she needed to.
"No sir!" Book exclaimed.
Having felt this before, Lunar just silently chuckles to himself at all the excitement buzzing about. He simply awaits the proper assignments.

"The purpose of being transferred to this facility is not to indulge yourself on our budgeted materials, [Rank] Maplewood, but to further your training. There for, all transferees are to pass the evaluation, lest there current training needs to be reinforced."

"very well" he nods waiting for the rest to start
"Yes sir!" saluted Infinity. He stood ready for further instruction.
"Let's move out recruits!" Sgt. Match barks as he points towards the gate. Drill Sgt. Turnip takes the lead.
Infinity starts marching toward the gate following the Drill Sgt.
Book executed a perfect textbook march as she followed everypony towards the gate.
Chibalt followed with, his march not really perfect, but with few flaws regardless aside from having to do so slightly slower, his size and all making his steps a little longer than regular.
NightningGale Marched Along With Everypony
Lunar marched in perfect cadence with the Sergeant, with a blank expression of military bearing present upon his features.
Infinity marched with dignity and matched the Sergeant's ever step. He was going to show them how serious he actually was.
Autumn Leaf takes to the air, and Match Stick vanishes in flurry of fire and ash. Lt. Turnip leads the group away from the base, but also away from the narrow valley that served as the only valid entry point into the badlands. This rout took them down the winding mountain side, and into the forested area composing the base of the mountainous wall that stands as an ever watchful guardian against the terrors that lay beyond them.
Infinity was humming a tune in his head. He really liked walking. But he had to stay on task, because he knew that he was about to be tested.
Maple simple sighs and follows the group questioning his decision
After walking for about twenty minutes, the group comes across a waterfall-fed river that blocks there path. "Looks like you're going to need to find a way across, recruits. Have fun!
Nightning Asks "Is Flying Allowed?"
"I don't see why not,"
Nightning Nods "Just Making Sure"Flew up To help the ponies build a bridge or something
"Our Best Bet is to build a Bridge,I supose."

Chibalt sighed and rolled his eyes before walking forwards, snapping off a branch from a random nearby tree and trying to use it to feel both how deep the river was and how strong the stream was. I swear, if it turns out you can just walk through this river I am going to be so disappointed in that pegasus.
Nightning Than thought of something "Unicorns can teleport over The River.. and pegasi can Fly over carrying the earth ponies"
"Can I try jumping it, or not?" asks Infinity. To him it didn't look like too far of a jump. Plus, he was an athlete.
Nightning Flew around aton of Ideas flying around "You can try."

Chibalt frowned as he couldn't reach the bottom without dipping almost the entire stick down, yup, that was too deep, the strength of the stream would hardly matter if one would be completely submerged, he did however have an idea. Hey, any unicorns here good with barrier spells? And I mean good enough to make something to walk over on!
(Just gonna assume it actually is too deep to cross by wading, anyways, making a bridge by creating a barrier should be a viable method of crossing, though it does rely on someone knowing the spell and having enough magic to keep it running for the time it takes to cross.)
(Also it's a running river being fed by a waterfall, so current is an issue.)
(Well he made it across I guess. He is an athlete though.)

((Please don't spam this topic, everyone works on different time schedules and even different time zones, so it's very probably for hours to pass in-between posts.))
"A barrier spell, you say?" Quick Silver asked. She spoke casually, but a proud smirk played on her lips. "I might be able to conjure something like that up. But you'll have to move quickly when it's up, just in case it goes down early for any reason." she explained, stepping forwards.
Book sighed. It would be nice if her teleport actually worked properly for a change. Fortunately, she had other options; a water walking spell would do the trick. Her horn glowed as she started casting the spell.
NightningGale Flew around,Rather Worried that she might fail and her Dreams would be crushed
Infinity walks around trying to find 15ft. logs.
"Don't see anything yet!" said Infinity.
"ok this is getting us nowhere*thinks* wait a barrier spell could work but what if we just froze the river and water fall " he looked around at the ponies to see there what there inputs where
And how much magic do you think is needed to freeze enough of the river to cross, the waterfall AND keep it from being pushed away by the water that will just keep coming? It's not exactly the subtlest of methods either. Chibalt responded, he wasn't a spellcaster himself, but he was pretty sure that freezing that much of the river, along with the waterfall too, would require quite a lot of mana.
Nightning Lost Her Patience "Ok! Does anypony have an usefull idea?!" o.O
"Freezing the whole river would use a lot of mana, and even if I could freeze the river I doubt I'd be able to do anything about the waterfall, and if it's frozen there's a higher risk of slipping." Quick Silver explained. "Honestly a barrier spell seems to be our best option right now."
Drill Sargent Turnip starts reading a book, seemingly becoming very much bored and uninterested in the progress of the newbies.
Book was about to cross when a stray thought stopped her in her tracks. She walked back to the drill sergeant and saluted.
"Sir! Is this suppose to be a team exercise?"
"This is supposed to be a test of your ability to perform the duties of a Royal Guard," he answers in such a way as to say that he wouldn't say anything more on the subject.
Infinity just kept pacing, trying to think of a plan.
Tired of waiting for the recruits, Drill Sgt. Turnip takes a turnip out of his saddlebags, and bites the stem off before promptly chucking it at his hooves. His determined actions are met with an anticlimactic "thud" as the stemless turnip bounces of the ground. "Gah! These recruits are rubbing off on me!"
"ok fine just carry us across" maple sighs taking a deep breath
Infinity can't carry anyone. He remembered when he used to be in MUCH better shape. So he just stood there.
"maybe there's a passage at the base of the waterfall" he began to look at it with curiosity
Chibalt facehoofed, hard. Why couldn't they just do something already?! Fine then! Geomancy, anyone here except for me know how to use it?!
(Just saying this before anyone gets the wrong idea, with channeling through his staff alligned to a runic filter, he can use geomancy, but the cost in energy would be more than enough to be useless in a fight. Basically he'd spend most of his energy creating hopping stones to cross with and be pretty tired afterwards.
Also, Geomancy is basically manipulating earth itself through magic, stone metals, you name it, but cost increases with distance the material is pulled from, the amount of it and the needed movement itself.)

"Well that might work quite well." replied Infinity.
Grabbing a second turnip out of his bag, the Drill Sgt. attempts the same stunt over. This time, to an explosive result. "Yeehaw!" he exclaims as he is launched several feet into the air and clears the river. "Now was that so hard?" he shouts at the group still stumped by the watery barrier.
"you really expect them to simple jump over a river I'm pretty sure as a royal guard your supposed to choose the safest way to cross" maple laughed
Infinity just looks at the Drill Sgt. He is shocked that he made it over like that.
"Amazing." he said in almost a whisper.
"So we're not going with the barrier spell bridge?" Quick Silver asked flatly.
The Drill Sergeant is joined by Sgt. Match Stick, who is carrying refreshments for him.
" already guards who here thinks they can jump across this" maple asked
NightningGale Took a running Start,Jumping the bank "Got it!"
"there that's what I like to see now who's next" maple now looked less worried and more relaxed
"Look's like ponies are getting to the other side." said Infinity.
Quick Silver sighed. Her horn lit up, and a bridge-like barrier appeared over the water. After no reply, she decided to just go over by herself. She trot over the bridge, and then stopped the spell, the bridge dissapearing.
"hmm how's it that I'm going to get over" maple thought to himself still looking behind the waterfall
Chibalt huffed and rolled his eyes, then walked to the edge of the river, looking at it for a bit before blue flames appeared around his hooves. Sorry, but I can't exactly carry anyone over, so, see ya on the other side. He said loudly to the ponies on this side of the river before crouching down and then jumping clear across the river, kicking up a fair bit of soil where he kicked off at that. His landing on the other side was pretty casual considering he made a jump impossible for most ponies with no run to give themselves speed, the large stallion finding a tree to lean against as he sat down and watched the rest.
The two superior officers both nod as the recruits begin to cross the river separately.
After looking at the surface of the rock surrounding the waterfall and useing a bit of his x Ray Maple gave a grunt of approval before punching a hole right thought the rock onto the other side"hmm I guess I need to make some more improvements to the sonar calibration matrix when we get back to the base" he chuckled walking though
Match Stick facehooves at Maple's approach to the test. "And just who does he think is going to have to patch that hole?"
"no one " maple smirks simple tapping the wall with his hind leg causeing a large boulder to fall in place of the hole a little dust floating into the air
"All that time spent in the lab has not been beneficial towards your appreciation of nature." Sgt.Match scolds Maple, though the smile on his face lessens the blow as it makes the comment seem almost lighthearted.
"I'll have you know that M.E.R.C pays very well for what I do in that lab" he smiled standing next to match to watch the rest
"Come on, lets see some hustle! Those who stay behind will be left behind." Match calls out to the hesitant recruits on the other aide of the river.
Book Keeper hurried to the other side.
Match pulls out an ornate pocket watch and makes a heavy sigh. He then disappeared in a flash of fire and ash, reappearing on the opposite side of the river among those that remained. A similar flash of fire occurs as the lot of em fins themselves across the river with unappealing scowls from both Sgt. Match, and Drill Sgt. Turnip. A third an final flash left the disapproving Sgt. no where to be seen.
"All right my little ponies, fold into marching order and follow me!"
Infinity gets in the line and gets ready to march.
Book Keeper got into line.
The group quickly found themselves marching omce again while Drill. Sgt. Turnip went on and on with the tune, "Left. Left. Left, right, left..." This lasted no longer than ten or fifteen minutes before a large tree blocked the path. "Well that's new. Oh well, your problem now recruits."
"yeah right that's totally new and surprising,well some pony else want to do it this time"
I guess I could have a go, if you don't mind Sir...s. Chibalt piped up as he stepped forwards to look over the tree, mostly in terms of just how large it was and if it was rotten, the latter checked simply by tapping it with his quarterstaff.
(Can I just assume the tree is rotten or? Well, that is assuming there's a tree fallen over the path, it was a bit vague.)

A few taps was enough, the sound was somewhat hollow and dull-sounding. Rotten... This shouldn't be much trouble. It might splinter a bit, so back up a little! He called out, waiting a few moments before turning around and winding up a solid buck aimed right at the portion of the tree obstructing the road, his hooves flaring up in blue flame right as the buck connected, the resulting release of energy being what could best be described as an inside-out explosion of blue flame disintegrating a good half or so of the tree while also sending the large stallion spinning, the latter recovering with practiced ease and quickly recovering to look over the fruits of his efforts.
Agh, this is why I hate rotten stuff, way harder to break in one piece. Chibalt grumbled, hopping a little to get back full feeling in his legs, channeling magic through one's limbs didn't really come completely without some discomfort, particularly when not through a horn.
"Good initiative there private! Anyone else care to take a swing?"
Book studied the tree carefully, ideas flashing through her head.
"Really? Nopony has any ideas on how to remove the rest of the tree?"
Infinity thinks about the right place to hit the tree.
"Sir, there are numerous ways of removing the rest of the tree," Book Keeper replied, still thinking. "I'm trying to come up with something practical that I'm capable of."
"Well we haven't got all day!" the Sgt. barks, more informatively than derogatorily.
Book's horn started glowing as she cast a spell. A loud rumbling noise emanated from underneath the tree, and withing a few seconds, the ground beneath it opened up. The tree was vanished from view, and the ground closed over it, as if it had never been there in the first place.
"Done sir!" Book saluted, sweating a bit from the strength of the spell.
Chibalt watched with a straight face as the ground opened up, swallowed the tree and then closed up again. A few seconds passed, then his hoof met his face. Couldn't you have just cut right through to make a passage instead of using geomancy? Not to say that it wasn't effective, but, well... A bit overkill...
"I don't have the mana to be able to do something like that," Book shook her head. "Moving earth around takes less power than outright destruction."
Sorry, just a bit irritable lately, wouldn't it have been easier to just cut through the tree in two places using constructs, then just roll the cut portion out of the way? Not to mention you basically just left a massive mark that we have been here, mana signature all over it and probably done a fair bit of damage on nearby vegitation, the earth you moved has to go somewhere. You could've also blocked underground rivers, accidentally tore open a massive underground cave for everyone to fall into, cause one to collapse, cause a landslide if used anywhere near hills and so-on. Chibalt listed the possibilities one after another, sure, moving the earth around was an easy way to get rid of an obstacle, but probably not the most efficient, that and the path was reeking of Book's mana to him.
That and you basically made a rather large signal flare for anyone who can feel magic, judging by the smell I think it'll last... One day, maybe half a week tops. Yes I can smell magic, no, I will not describe how it smells.
(Sorry if the logic is annoying here, but, well, moving large amounts of dirt around like that would have consequences, both long and short term, plus I don't think magic is without residue, and you just planted quite a bit in the ground, not to mention I think it'd definitely make noise, and the dirt has to go somewhere.)
"I must agree with the cyan one. While the royal guard is to do it's duty without fail, part of that duty is to protect the land. I will expect all of you to be less careless in the future," Drill Sgt. Turnip lectures, glaring at both Book and Maple periodically whilst doing so.

Book cringed. "S-sorry sir," she mumbled.
"Don't be sorry, be in line!" the purple pony barks, ordering everypony into marching order.
Book got back into line, thinking about the effects her actions could have on other ponies.
Infinity gets in the line and waits to march.
'Man I wonder when I can have some free time?' he thought.

The group now finds themselves at the base of a large steep cliff. "Alright, finale test before it's pencils down! Get ontop of this here ridge, and you're free to continue your training, fail, and it's back to pushups and boulder rolling. BEGIN!"
