Legends of Equestria - Forum

How do you like to celebrate the new year? Either spending time with family, or partying with friends? Inclined to stay up all night one day and sleep in the next? However you spend this time of year, I personally like to celebrate it with ponies and more ponies - and now you can too!

Tune in later this month, from the 24th to the 26th, and you'll find that the servers will be open for all of you to come in and enjoy the game! We can all have fun playing, dancing, doing quests, fighting monsters, or just sittin' in the town square with our buds.

The new build will be available on the 22nd of January on our downloads page. (http://www.legendsofequestria.com/downloads) On the 24th, the servers will open at 12:01 AM EST and close on the 26th at 11:59 PM EST.
We have recently created a new server system, which so far has proven to be far more secure than the previous system. This is a test of the new system. Please remember that you must have a forum account in order to log in and play the game.

Everyone here on the team hopes to have some great fun together with you to kick off the new year, and we hope you'll join us for it! Roll on 2015!

I download this game on 1 January and in that time i guess game open all along and when I learned that will opening up ii have this face  :D  x3  8) = very very very very HAPPY!

That won't be necessary.  If the team feels the need to host downloads from other locations they will do that.  Generally we recommend to other users NOT to download LoE from sources outside the developers, and any sources or links posted on the forums that was not made by a member of the team will be removed.

The downloads will be up on the 22nd, giving two days to download it before the OSW starts.  If you want to not get the "Too many downloading at once" thing, try to be one of the first to download it.  It's a fair method that I used on my past OSWs.  If you get the error, wait five seconds, and try again.  Keep going until it works.  That's the best advice I can offer for such situation. ^-^

For those that care...

I will seriously do everything I can to do a livestream of me playing this game this time. All three days for maybe an hour. Maybe. During one of those times I'll even show how to get to the castle in the Everfree Forest as it was shown to me how to get there. Hopefully you can still do that though. lol.

Either way, whenever the livestream thread goes up I'll make a post there with a link to my livestream channel when I go live.

Keep this in mind however:

If I end up getting a job before this OSW... you can pretty much forget about this happening at all. So... yeah...

Wasn't the last one also distributed via torrent?  I know I was seeding a version from August.

YES!!!!! Oh I'm so happy! I've been highly awaiting another OSW ever since the end of the last one, that was my first and one of the most amazing experiences of my life!! I could say this game is the one I'm awaiting the most out of all the games to come, and don't get me wrong I love AAA games. This is just... another kind of "powerful". So much greatness... So many emotions and new feelings... Before playing LoE I was just a brony, by playing LoE I became a pony.
Anyway enough rambling, you guys rock, and I can't wait until I can meet everypony again in the game during this upcoming OSW :D Thank you so much for it! See you all there!

Yes you do. The old will be obselete, so the new version is required since there is new updates and features.

Stars, I hope you can too. 1GB of RAM is a little tiny in this day and age (suprising since it was fine back in 2006).

Hi everypony. I'm new here, this is my first post ever. To be honest I'm not one to browse forums often but then I found this game. This will also be my first time ever playing LoE so really looking forward to it.

One big question: When we log in to the game will there be a list of servers to choose from? If so, what difference does it make the server that is chosen?

4. Release Candidate
5. Release

Sometimes it can go as far as:

The servers are designated in certain regions. Some servers have less lag than others for being closer to your locations. It is recommended to be in a server with the lowest lag. The latency is located next to the server names, with a number value of "ms" (millisecond) latency. I hope this helped.

What's funny is that with most people thinking like that the most bearable servers are actually the ones with the highest ping from physical location because they generally have the least load on them (though theres a point I'd assume where the load starts effecting the ping response time lol). I mean a 100ms difference in ping from connecting to somewhere a few thousand more miles away really isn't going to affect the heated "gameplay" I'd assume, and really the most annoying part about playing the osws is the random disconnects from the servers exploding/being restarted if anything.

Either way get da hype, I'm sure I'm going to have a blast :p

I can't wait! LoE open server weekend is the best day of my year. I downloaded the mod to play on private servers, but it's just not the same when there are 0 players in the world. The best thing about this game is the people who play it.

As an experienced LoE OSW attendee, who attended 4 from 5 OSW's so far, I'm going to answer this question:

Yes, it's allowed and encouraged. A lot of people, including myself, have made a lot of videos.

With this being my 4th OSWE I can't stop wondering how many more will be there until it goes from pre-Alpha to Alpha, let alone Beta or Release.
Now don't get me wrong, I DO support the "it's done when it's done" philosophy, but it kinda starts to feel like HL3 and Duke Nukem Forever.  :c

The game will be downloadable from the 22nd to the 26th, EST.  This way, players can download the game if they want to start playing during the OSW's progress.

Will the Pony Creator on the homepage ever get updated with the server weekends? It's been two versions behind since... well, two versions.

Will there actually be a render distance option this time? I bought my PC in December of 2011 and the lack of this option makes it impossible to run the game smoothly.

Even my junky laptop from '09 could at least run the game (on low settings, mind you). I don't doubt that a computer 2 years newer can run it. Though it really depends...

Those rough requirements also say "an okay graphics card."  Integrated chipsets aren't designed for heavy gaming, they are more aimed towards basic video functionality.  Looking at your other specs I don't see you having any issues running most games if you can upgrade to a graphics card instead of using your onboard chipset since it's bottlenecking your rig.

As for answering your question since i'm not a member of programming I am not sure if lowering render distances is an option or will be an option at this time. Sorry

Using integrated graphics will give you a bad time.
Processor, and ram are fine. The minimum for graphics, I would probably assume a high-ish teir $50 graphics card, preferably Nvidia Geforce GT 520 or above or an ATI equivalent.

When I was on my nvidia gt 520 it ran okay at around 40-80 frames, on a medium resolution. If you want the SUPER MEGA MAXED OUT SETTINGS without a sign of lag, you'll be looking towards spending $170 on a GPU.

In this case you could go with nVidia GTX650 1GB version, it will improve your gaming experience, it opened to me a lot more than it's suitable once I voided warranty lol But with stock settings GTX650 1GB GDDR5 is a budged beast and costs $96 to $110 depending on a brand, but EVGA is recommended one.

I kinda get where Lync is coming from.  At least for someone like me, it's that you don't want to get in someone's way or hamper their enjoyment.  But at the same time I'm kinda lacking on the social aspects and don't really chat with people, especially strangers, much.  It's just too far out of my comfort zone.

From my experience in open server weekends, it's really difficult to hamper people's fun there. That is unless you're being deliberately mean.
Trust me when I say this; two open server events ago, I didn't really socialize with anyone. I still had some fun, but I was pretty much alone. The most recent event is what really made it for me. I talked to other people, did some rping, and even opened up and participated in deep discussion with others. I had never really done that before online, and you don't have to worry about strangers here. These people are generally really nice and easy to get along with, and they will gladly help you out and point you in the right direction.

I can't wait, im on the edge, can't wait, OMG OMG, this is going to be the first time that i have the clock on my side.

Okay, I've been trying to stay chill for this entire time.
But now that it's so near I'm getting reminded of all the previous OSWs I've been in and how much fun they were, and now I'm all excited xD

Same here, it's January 22 and I assumed it would be clock at hand (like someone else mentioned earlier). Probably tomorrow morning (in about 6 hours) or worst case at night (in about 15 hours). I'm so hyped for this game, it'll be my first ever OSW.

basically the client should be up on the downloads page sometime today, but you may have to take into consideration various time zones and any other little touches that need to be added to the game.

I'd say if the game isn't up in 26 hours...then just keep waiting! 0:)

They open on midnight EST (Eastern Standard Time in the US), which will be early morning here in Europe (exact time will depend on where you live as Europe has three or four time zones).

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure we updated our servers, so that should hopefully mean that you won't have any trouble connecting :)

On google Chrome, in the app store, search for "auto refresher" or "refresher" or such. There are several programs which have existed for awhile. They are most likely referring to those programs, not one they created as that would be pointless to put effort into when there are several online which do the same thing.

Well they still crashed last time even though they were on Google XD Well it's more like there were too many users downloading at once so many of us couldn't access the download for some time (we would get an error from the Google link telling us that the download is currently overcrowded and unavailable, or something like that, if I remember correctly). I couldn't play on the first day because of that, all the day was spent waiting for a place in the download queue XD But it's okay, since the experience of the other two days largely made up for that :)

We must be patient. They have worked hard to get the game ready for us fellow ponies. I would rather have a working game they a complete broken mess even though this is still in Pre-Alpha which isn't the most finished phase in a game.

When your in-game, there is hardly any-noticeable lag from my experience. Most of the trouble is getting in a server, which is bound to occur again

I made an account just to suggest this, but, what if we all get in a giant Skype group and simply wait out the download. That way, when it becomes available, we all can know almost immediately.  :D

They're working on the servers. That's one of the reasons why they have stress tests and these OSE's. They help them fix the servers to handle more people as such hear of the game, and start playing it themselves.

Seems the home and forums couldn't handle it's fans. I just hope the game can...

• Not everyone on the LoE team operates on the same time zone as you


• The OSW is still happening as far as I know


• If there are any delays in getting the client up on the download page, it's only because we're trying to make the game as fun and glitch-free as possible. We haven't forgotten about you guys!

If I may. Saturday, Sunday and Monday works best for me. Many people work on fridays and even saturdays and most of them work on mondays; but if your weekend (like mine for example) starts on friday night/saturday morning then it is best to start with the event and go as long as you like/want/can. Then when it finishes on monday maybe you are busy/working and could probably miss the end of the event, but at least you started with it and enjoyed it to your full potential.

If instead it started on thursday midnight (friday 12:01 AM) then everyone working/busy friday would miss the start of the event. By the time we got to the game everything would have started, we'd miss quite a few things and would go on to play until the end (sunday midnight) with the regret of missing out on the start. Or sacrifice job/school/things which isn't really fair to have to choose.

But that's just my way of seeing it.

Also, no download yet :S It's been an entire day off the expected date to download and we only have 24 hours left to download before the event begins  :I

This is apparently going to be my first time playing Legends of Equestria, looking forward to it <3  :3

By the way, it was stated that the current download would be visible on the "Downloads page" by the 22nd, yet I don't see it anywhere, why is that?

Welp, the new game build is officially in my matrix. Just a few more hours until the hype train leaves for Equestria. I haven't had a proper session with this game since April of 2014 when I discovered it. If all goes well, this will be a very refreshing experience for me! I can't wait, even though I must wait  >A<

With this you can set up the Dpad (or an analog stick) for movement and use the other analog stick for mouse control. But like I said, I have now idea if this will by useful for playing this game. Yay, my first time going to play!!! :D

Alright for those that care, (which I'm sure is very few) my livestream will be during all three days where I show off a specific area in the game. Also, I won't be livestreaming/playing for very long. Probably only around 45 minutes to an hour. Maybe longer if I feel like it but I don't want to push my laptop (which is what I'm using to do this) to hard.

Anyway, the plan for tomorrow is for the livestream to start around the 3-4 p.m. EST range. I'll post a link to my livestream when I'm ready to do it. I have to test the game and make sure it works (obviously) and to make sure my voice can still be heard over the game audio (also obvious) so if I'm a little late please just realize that it'll happen as soon as I'm ready for it to happen.

I'll post in the livestream thread when it reopens. Which will hopefully be soon.

Your download was probably interrupted, it happened to me at least three times. Took me about 5 hours to download with the launcher.

Instead go for the zip file, either 32x or 64x depending on your computer (go 32x just in case). Unzip it in a new folder and double click the file "Loe"

srsly guys, it's like, the 4th or 5th time you open the servers and you still don't know that you need big and numerous servers? You should really ask for donations before you start openings so you can rent more servers at least for the weekend...

It says that my login is wrong and then I register and it says ok you are now registered but it still won't let me login

The 64 bit version just crashes when I attempt to join a server, and the 32 bit version I downloaded after that happened actually had a crash error.

Why does the beginning of these events always start out rough?

The most the game will let me get to is the map of canterlot and viewing the city. Then the two songs just loop like nothing wrong  :P

That's just the server being extremely slow due to the amount of players online. If you wait it out, it should eventually load.

i have been stuck on what i think is the "Cantermore" screen ever since i entered the airship in cloudsdale

Fix the issues please LoE team.

It appears no one can go to any other area besides the area they spawn in, with SugarCane Corner being the only seeming exception.

This issue needs to be fixed, whatever is causing it.

Hey all! We know there's a lot of problems with the game at the moment, and you can bet your behind we're working ours off to get everything working as well as it possibly can. There's been a lot of trouble for us to deal with on our end, from that rather inconvenient attack on our servers to just general massive overcrowding, but we're doing our best to sort everything out - and this kind of experience will be invaluable for later development of the game.

I just want to thank you all for being patient with us during all this. LoE, after all, is still in a pre-alpha state, and these tests are fantastic for us to get as much info as possible about the game to make sure that, when it's finished, it'll hopefully run smoothly; you are all helping us to make this game better!

In the mean time, the servers are still open (and as of right now, seem to be running much better!), and (barring any further naughty shenanigans) should be remaining open until the planned end at 11:59pm EST on January 26th. We don't plan to extend the servers beyond that time; they're not free, after all, and everybody on the team here is a volunteer on the project, with real-life stuff to do during the week. You know, jobs and education and other sucky stuff. It's pretty hard to maintain the game while most of the team is MIA!

I still think it should be extended for those of us that couldn't play today.

Game is super slow for me, I can't get passed any loading screens and actually play the game  :'(

There's been a lot of trouble for us to deal with on our end, from that rather inconvenient attack on our servers to just general massive overcrowding, but we're doing our best to sort everything out - and this kind of experience will be invaluable for later development of the game.

I just want to thank you all for being patient with us during all this. LoE, after all, is still in a pre-alpha state, and these tests are fantastic for us to get as much info as possible about the game to make sure that, when it's finished, it'll hopefully run smoothly; you are all helping us to make this game better!

In the mean time, the servers are still open (and as of right now, seem to be running much better!), and (barring any further naughty shenanigans) should be remaining open until the planned end at 11:59pm EST on January 26th. We don't plan to extend the servers beyond that time; they're not free, after all, and everybody on the team here is a volunteer on the project, with real-life stuff to do during the week. You know, jobs and education and other sucky stuff. It's pretty hard to maintain the game while most of the team is MIA!

y'all honestly need to add memebers to your team who don't "exactly" have lives outside the computer i'm sure there are afew out there you could find :]
and someone mentioned "Donations" before and i would like to point out how great an idea that is since its not like your "Demanding" for money and you just have to do that until you get the game running smoothly enough to open for longer Periods of time
its pretty much a fact some of us are willing to give you what you need to atleast finish or get far with this project so y'all should let us ;)
(Excuse me if i'm being blunt since i only joined the wait late last year but still)

I honestly like the Heartlands map, except that it can be dangerous at times.

Sadly I keep getting a error when I attempt to update: The remote server returned an error: (503) server unavailable. Don't know if it's only me or someone already said it.

The whole Legends of Equestria environment is beautiful and fun to explore, I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into making the game and keeping it running. The swarms of players trying to populate your game is testament to how awesome it is. ^_^ Keep up the good work!

yeah, oddly enough, to go down to the ground you need to get to the highest point of cloudopolis: totally counter intuitive XD

shortly about the situation:

• The journal doesn't display its notes.


• Sometimes emotion buttons became unavailable to use.


• An opportunity to act with NPCs is missed eventually. Relogining helps to rectify this issue.


• Standing right in the center of a timberwolf makes him unable to attack me.

I believe, everything will be fixed soon.

i found that out like yesterday or the day before that i'm saying how did you leave when all you get is a view of the city when trying to leave..well now they fixed it but you know what i mean

Yesterday night I actually managed to spawn my Unicorn character in Cantermore. Of course It took some tries, but I managed to do it. I presume it was due to the lower number of players than in day ours. Surprisingly, I was able to travel to areas like Ponydale, Sweet Apple, Evershade, Mines and Heartlands. I wasn't even able to access the latter three as my Earth Pony, so I think that it was just lucky timing. Of course, I did have to restart couple of times and experience errors, but after server hopping and stubborn attempts I did get in.  ^-^

I really love the design of enemy creatures, and even experienced bringing down a dragon together with a bunch of unexpected allies who came to my aid. Everything I seen of those areas was completely amazing, and I did feel very lucky to be able to reach those areas. It goes the show the hard work that went into creating them.

Of course, there were glithes and inconsistencies. I don't know if I should be creating a ticket for all of them, as some of these are not bugs per se. Okay, here goes the list:
1. Whenever I tried to take a train to Crystal Kingdom, an error log would be created and the game will close by itself. It did do the same thing for Evershade once, on one of my attempts to get in.
2. Don't think it's a bug, just a quest inconsistency. When you talk to Nurse Coldhoof and get the Quest she says that Chef Linguine is in Clover Cafe. He is hovewer, in the other part of town alltogether. Cafe itself is deserted completely. Tonic is also not in her shop, but chills out by a waterfall tree. It's kind of funny because she even has dialogue that refers to some boxes of potions that aren't even around. Marvell is the only person that is in expected place. My guess that is because layout of Ponydale changed but ponies weren't moved to new places. After completing the quest I got a nurse cap, but it isn't wearable, so I ended up selling it.
3. This thing is sort of related to quests in general as I experienced it with more than one quest. Sometimes NPC dialogue will not reset and they will keep talking as if quest didn't even begin. Klondike for example doesn't even respond when I DID find a pick, just repeating his lines. Sometimes you get more than one quest item from NPC. I got 2 sets of potion and food boxes by repeatingly talking to Linguine and Tonic. Flan did this too when I asked about supplies for Hullabloo's party. Also, Paso Fino Party Pack's did not stack and also did not have their icon, as it was shown as a red question mark in a circle. Sometimes NPC can get stuck in their quest reward dialogue, not returning to normal phrases.
4. Also quest related. I once had a character that was involved in two quests. It was Flan, and I couldn't speak to her about carrots that Astral dabbled with, as I took this earlier than Hullabloo's Party one. Maybe it will be possible to talk about another quest once the other one is finished, but still... Also, when I talked to Astral she talked to me as if quest was finished. Don't know if it was intended or not.
5. I did notice a couple of "floating" trees around Ponydale, Evershade and Heartlands. Floating as in they have a part of them above ground, which is transparent if you look from below.

I think that's it for this list. Sorry for such a big post.  :P

One again, thanks for you efforts on the game LoE Team, I really enjoyed what I managed to experience. I hope you will be able to improve it further with our input. I hope you will manage to resolve problems with logging in and area transition. I think success in my case was due to them being fixed, or maybe I was extremely lucky.

Forgot to mention that if there is ":" in character's dialogue, part of their dialogue will be in their name. Weird, huh?

well today i was able to get in several areas and encountered my first dragon but it can't hit well just like other monsters in the everfree but it does not seem to get damaged...
(also it has a far range of site so when looking at them be sure not to be near the ground of else they will charge at ya)

there just still complaining here, most of the bugs have been reported, some spammed due to that DDos attack.

Great OSW, guys! Had some major issues at the start, but the new features, the people I met, and the amazing Mods made up for it! August: 9.9/10. This OSW: 9.8/10. Just fix the server issues, keep butt sliding, and make Ponydale easier to navigate, and you'll get a 10/10 from me. Also, I loved the Mods! They were funny, helpful, and overall great people to talk to. I'll write a more in-depth review later when my homework is done. Overall: Wow, Fantastic Baby.  :3 <3 ^-^ :D

I found a weird glitch, spawning out of the map after being knocked out by a Dryad. This happened when I was in Zecora's home in Ever shade Forest & visit the Poison Jokes.

It was free falling the way it tucked its legs in. Then it became weirder, my character began to disassemble.

Wind pressure breaking apart my character? Anyways, this was a simple solution by typing "/stuck" in the dialog box. Had to do it a couple of time but eventually I got out. My character was saved.
