Hmm... it depends on the psychology and instincts of ponies.

For this scenario, I'm just going to suppose that the only difference between humans and these theoretical ponies is shape and magical abilities.

I am also going to assume that ponies can manipulate objects with their hooves, but maybe not as precise as hands.

Third, I am going to assume our current universe model - no geocentric solar system like in the show.

The last assumption I am going to make is that all three races of ponies start out living together. If they started separate, we'd get into Hearth's Warming territory.

Starting from the beginning of history, civilizations would be started a lot quicker. Surplus of food would have happened a lot sooner, due to the Earth Ponies, and things like droughts would not wipe out cities/civilizations, due to the pegasi. Unicorns would have provided sufficient defense, as well as artistic fine manipulation - useful enough for war not to be shunned by the others.

This relative ease of living would stagnate innovation, though. Some innovation would occur, though. Unicorns would discover healing spells, and perhaps Earth ponies would instinctively know which plants would help cure disease.

The first real problems would probably come with pegasi and unicorns. Both of the races have significant military capabilities, and since the Earth ponies would have control over the food, they would be mostly in charge of any government. I expect servile roles to come into place, as well as several bloody rebellions.

This will cause a split, and mistrust between all three races (Despite working together with each other to overthrow the earth ponies, the seed of mistrust against anything different than them will have already been placed.)

This split (perhaps not all countries, or even half, but significant enough) will cause those separated tribes to innovate in order to survive or keep their current standard of living. Each tribe will find alternate, nonmagical ways of doing the other races' jobs. Not as good as the original perhaps (several droughts/plagues kill thousands), but hardship cause the innovation that was so stagnant.

Eventually, as science, philosophy, and magic progress, the different countries exchange ideas, leading to more unified and advanced countries, but with continued tensions between the different races.

No one unified nation exists, and many countries of isolationists still exist, but the world is generally at peace... for now.

....Well that was fun.

Speaking of Equestrian expletives, there is "ponyfeathers," "don't give a flying feather," and "(darn) it all to Tartarus."

Strangely enough, I think the first two were used in the actual show, and the second one was said by Fluttershy.

Other than that, in general, "hand" changes to "hoof," the -man suffix changes to -mare or -pony (Like firepony or mailmare) For male occupations, it's more up to preference, but I think "mailcolt" sounds more natural than a mouthful like "mailstallion."

But in general among bronies, if it makes sense in a pony setting, people will accept it.

Though at the same time, unless you are writing fanfiction or roleplaying, people will be fine with not bothering with the pony vocabulary at all.

This is more of an eventual thing, but I think it would be great if a stealth mechanic was added to the combat of LoE.

Of course, I don't know the exact current mechanics of how or why a hostile mob notices the player, but having a way to either make it so mobs don't see you, or purposefully get their attention would be great.

Now, sneak criticals and things like that would be great, and are pretty common in games, but something less common, but just as useful is a mechanic for purposefully making noises to get a creature's attention.

With all the area buffs/debuffs currently in the skills list (like Regenerative Aura and Candy Shower), and the advantages of battling with a group of friends, a main problem comes with getting the attention of mobs to get them to come to you. Creating a stealth system that allows for both sides of the spectrum would be nice.

(I'm going to assume there might be a reason LoE has obscure creatures, but not certain ones from the show, like hydras and ursas. Though if those are a possibility, that would be great, too.)

Quote from: Goomie on 2018 Feb 21, 16:10:28It's my personal opinion that it'd be nice to have something to look forward to- as the game population lately seems to be quietening down. A lot of level 50s lack things to do after maxing out their character, so while I agree spoiling it wouldn't be as fun, people are likely getting bored of waiting a month without no sign of an update.

On the other hand, I can see why these change logs / planned features wouldn't be updated, as Elphyda mentioned about it causin' an uproar.

A suggestion could be maybe we have update logs on things such as minor implementations or big fixes as time goes on? So if people have missed something, they can head back and go check it out. These could be things that aren't big enough to add to the bigger updates, but rather just something small people can read and note that the game is still being updated. As things stand... It feels dead sometimes!

As far as alicorns are concerned, I think there'd have to be some kind of heavy requirements to unlock that if it was ever implemented. I doubt alicorns'll ever be added- the pegasus population is pretty high but alicorns? Hoo boy.  lol

From what I have heard through all the public relations people, Alicorns are both the most requested feature, and the one that they will probably never implement.

This (from what I heard) is due not only to balance issues, but roleplaying ones as well. Why be any other race when you can be all of them?

This April Fools update kind solved this problem, ironically, as they gave out cardboard horns and wings. So people could dress up as an alicorn if they really wanted, but it wouldn't be perfect (meaning less people would do it) and giving no real advantage.

In addition, the reason why planned features are a terrible idea is that sometimes in game development, you realize that said feature might cause problems. Or you have another, better idea that would conflict. Change of plans leads to angry fans.

This was a problem with a game I like called Robocraft. There was a teaser for a mortar weapon very early into that weapon's development. The devs realized later that it wasn't as great of an idea as they thought, but since it was already teased to the public, they felt forced to go through it anyway.
25
Well, it's not technically false. Just incredibly misleading.

Though I have to say the alicorn quest is absolutely hilarious. Especially the conversation with Active Vision and Electric Art.

You know, there's "on the nose," and then there's "ripping the nose clean off the face."

Quote from: super-mpm on 2018 Mar 30, 15:14:02Hyped for seing these new things! So many "secrets"... Why so misterious?

Thats waaay too low, not even IRL objects lose so much value. I think keeping 80% of the value is fine.

I'd say 50%, but yes, 20% is WAY too low. Especially as it makes things like rubies just as useless as rocks and mushrooms.

The ultimate showdown!

Discussion is encouraged.

My personal favorite is Princess Cadence, at least personality-wise. They didn't really give her one until much later in Three's a Crowd, but that was probably because Hasbro probably wouldn't have let them at that point.

Oh, and if you don't already know about it, look up Shining Harmer. Princess Cadence seems to spend a lot of time disguised as a normal citizen.

As a Princess, I think I would pick Twilight. She doesn't have much experience yet, but she tends to think things through, and... she actually does stuff for Equestria.

(No hate towards Luna or Celestia. I actually like them a lot, especially in the comics or good fanfictions.)

Wow, a lot of Sweetie Belles.

Including me.

Nice to see you included Babs and Gabby on the list, though.

Quote from: MLP_BlackNight on 2017 Nov 30, 22:00:33Are you the owner

Ellowee is the mascot for Legends of Equestria. The pony that is the face of LoE. And if you say them together, "Ellowee" sounds like "LoE."

I think the person that made Ellowee might be the main person that started the project, but an MMO like this takes a lot of work from a lot of people, so just giving credit to one person as the "owner" doesn't really do justice to all of them.

That might be why we only see "Ellowee" and not the person behind her in all the announcements.

Quote from: Ferro_the_King on 2018 Jan 01, 07:03:01Well, I always thought Trixie is one of those unicorns, whose talent is magic. She just wasn't properly trained yet...

Yeah, it seems like one of the main differences was raw power or lack of formal education.

I like to think she was more a specialist in illusion magic, though.

Yeah, while I usually like the comics, they aren't really canon, and...

I don't really like it, since it pretty much says that changelings as an entire race are born evil.
32
Of the three main pony races, I think I would be an earth pony, but...

I'm definitely a changeling, if I think about it. A benevolent one, but still...

In real life, I'm pretty much a changeling to begin with. To start, I have a strange empathetic sense I can't really explain.

No, that's a lie. From what I have researched (since I was confused about it), when a person experiences an emotion, it causes the brain to undergo certain electrical signals, which creates a unique electromagnetic field. This causes interference with other electromagnetic fields (i.e., on other people), and those sensitive to them will be able to detect it.

I believe this is the same way dogs and other animals detect emotion.

Oddly enough, this also means that I can often detect emotional trauma as well (the way they express emotions in their brain actually feels wrong for some reason).

That, and I think stealth is really cool. In Nerf wars with friends, I was always that one guy with the single-shooter pistol that stayed away from everyone and sniped.

The correct spelling is "draconequus." (Not being mean about it - I just thought you might want to know.)

Yes, it is definitely the hardest word to spell, though.

Quote from: Ferro_the_King on 2017 Dec 30, 21:19:02There are some other possibilities, though:
Changelings are cursed ponies. (Not likely, because they would probably be healed in "Where and back again")
Changelings are side effect of excessive using of magic throughout the Equestria.
Changelings were created on purpose- Either as a weapon, revenge, or just some failed magic experiment.

I like how you think!

I see a fourth option, with the events of "To Where and Back Again."

Changelings could have been simply another species, then got either cursed or fell into evil/ruin. The transformation was implied to be the original true form of changelings.

I like to think that these old changelings had something of a symbiotic relationship with the original ponies, similar to a lot of fanfictions' depictions of the changeling "old ways," where they would take a pony's place when there was no way to save them (more common in the harsh climates of the time), and the pony didn't want their lover to suffer.

Quote from: Ferro_the_King on 2017 Dec 30, 21:31:07She actually posess the gem finding spell...

Oh, right! Yeah.

That makes even more sense, as that is related even more to her cutie mark. Thanks for pointing that out.
36
That's precisely what I mean.

Not like the part during the Crystalling, but there should be snow in the main map part, then some grass near the city, then the city itself.

So it actually looks like the Crystal Heart is doing something.

Introductions / Re: A (Very) Belated Hello
2017 Dec 30, 21:34:22
Yeah, I don't believe I ever really did a welcome post.

When I started with the Limited Access Release, the forums were pretty dead, other than the specific section for LAR. (Or some of the announcements.)

But now that more people are coming in, I'm paying more attention, especially to the welcome section. Maybe making a post of my own. Maybe.

Anyway, I hope to see you in-game. My main right now is a pegasus named Oneira.

I hope to see you in-game!

From what I have seen, most of the people that frequent LoE are nice people in general, so you're in good company.

My main character in-game right now is Oneira, so if you see me, don't hesitate to say hello!

Also, if you need any help with anything, either ask someone (like me), or look on the wiki for more detailed knowledge.

Hi! Nice to meet you!

If you have questions and such, I'd be happy to answer them.

Also, there is a pretty well-maintained wiki, if you didn't already know. A quick Google search will find it pretty easily.

I hope to see you!

Certainly, the more ponies play, the more fun it is for everyone.

And don't worry about being "spoiled" by the wiki. I use it all the time to remind myself where quests are. And I was a tester for the game.  X3
