Having joined over 100 message boards over the course of my lifetime I've seen every type of emoji user out there, from the "I hate emojis." herd to the "lol :P :D" herd.

This gets me wondering about the opinions of emojis and emoticons in general whenever I find myself in a new message board or community so I figured I'd ask everypony here to share their opinions on the matter.

I prefer text only emojis, but it seems like they are impossible on this forum, due to automatic conversion. (And that's fine, by the way. Just not a fan of image based emojis personally)

Your thoughts?

Eh as long as people don't go overboard with emojis.......like this, I'm fine with everypony using them. It gets old reading through posts/messages when you have to stare at a wall of text without any kind of color between the lines or words.

I'm roughly the same, but considering my personal formatting rules (whith extra line breaks between paragraphs/subjects) I don't feel like a wall of text is just a wall of text, as long as it's well formatted.

Haha, I'm with you on this one. That was... a lot.

Also, it was only after posting that first message that I saw the little tickbox (in full reply, not quick reply) to disable automatic emotes. If I could just take a moment to thank the forum devs for adding that option. <3

Heh, I know this a late reply, when you go on the forums often, you tend to see the most random of posts, like the one I linked, every now and again, and it's always funny to see xD

I tend to avoid most boards, because I feel like I have nothing to contribute to them, but I do pop in once in a while just to see what's there. That in mind, I've come across some pretty strange things lol. So yeah, I know the feeling.

Sometimes those posts can make your day though, giving you something weird and funny to laugh about. Or that might come from the replies lol.

They deleted the thread, so I'm going to assume it was a "post random emojis" thread. But I need a picture if you guys have one.

I'm fine with the emojis and they are fun, but I keep them at a minimum amount and sometimes use other emojis like (^ω^)

Here's a similiar example from the same person, of what I was talking about earlier. I wouldn't be surprised if the original thread I linked to got deleted. After all it was just a bunch of gibberish if you took out the emojis, just like the one I'm linking to now, except, it has more gibberish and less emotes.

Emotes can be cute;  If they're eevee or vulpix....and fennekin
Nice feature of discord, custom emotes =3

PoserPanda

I could say that I don't like emotes at all, but then I would get an idea to preface each of my long roleplay posts with the corresponding emotion. Or at the end of a short reply I might add a Twilight or Rarity, and that's just because I like those ponies. So for the most part, I tend to be pretty partial.  ^-^

I agree with you that these are certainly too many emotes. I, personally haven't used emotes so far, because I don't know what they really mean. When I hover over an emote with my mouse in a forum entry, I can see a tooltip, but I can't see these tooltips when I hover over them while I'm writing a post (or maybe it's just my computer or I make a silly mistake).

Generally, I also think that you shouldn't go overboard with them.
