I've never gotten to play before! Supposedly, the game lets you pick your 'talent mark' based on what quests you do. So... is LOE modeled after Friendship Is Optimal https://www.fimfiction.net/story/62074/friendship-is-optimal?

-Does the game censor references to humans? If I type "I am a woman with a hand full of dollars" in the chat, does it appear as "I am a mare with a hoof full of bits"?
-Do we pick our names or does the game pick ours for us based on two-random-word combinations?
-Is the "help menu" a room with Celestia in it?
-Does typing curse words in the chat make them come out like "Muffin," "Cinnamon Swirl," "Fritter," and other non-meat related food words?
-Does the game make references to "Immigration" or ask if you're playing LOE from an "Equestrian Center?" (Probably not)

So, has LOE hired anyone yet? Skimming the comments, not too many people knew how to do VFX stuff.

O: he/she said fudge and schnitzel O: ban him/her

jk :D

O:
My goodness, you're right. Psudo-curse words are too vulgar. We obviously need psudo-psudo-curse words.

"Fudge" can become "Foobie-doo," "schnitzel" can become "scooby-dooby,"

Quote"What the [foobie-doo] [scoobey-dooby] is going on here!?"

TWO layers of protection! I mean, it's the only way to be sure...

This is probably an unimportant question, but how does the profanity filter work? Just curious.

Does it make it so that a player can't post the comment or does it swap out the profane word for a safe one like... "fudge," or "schnitzel."

"What the [fudge] is going on here!"

Alternatively, there could be an actual arcade cabinet somewhere (maybe inside Sugarcane Corner) with LoS on the screen as an animated texture, though not possible for the player to interact with it. It would be like the cabinet is simply on and the game is running on Demo Mode.

Maybe a quest where an NPC standing in front of said arcade cabinet asks the player to help him visualize how to beat a challenging level in his game, and then suddenly you're wearing springs on your shoes avoiding socks being blasted out of a cannon. All the while, he's shouting encouragements and critisims at you.

Quote"It feels weird that you don't respond to my game paddle..." "No! Don't get any of those socks dirty! I kinda sorta borrowed them from my mom and she doesn't know yet." "Yes! Oh, I feel a breakthrough coming through!" "You could be a speed runner!"

Hopefully there'll someday be a 'Things-With-Buttons' update that adds typewriters, arcade cabinets, studio camera, and stuff you can interact with. I'd love to walk up to a typewriter and get Sims-esque options to "write trashy novel" or whatever and have a book with a random texture appear in my inventory that has a random goofy title.  And then the item can be sold to an NPC shopkeeper for a few extra bits.

Wait, here's a thought.... As of Hearts-and-Hooves-Day in Season 2, outdoor arcade cabinets are canon. Could Legends of SOCKquestria be a playable Easter Egg, if the player knows where to look? Since this game was made in Game Maker Studios, and LoE is made in Unity, I can imagine some coding issues, so... maybe the Easter Egg is written text of the URL to this forum thread so players could download SOCKquestria for themselves.

If not, then I'd love a quick one sentence text blurb said by some NPC somewhere that SOCKquestria is the new hit game that everypony's waiting impatiently for.

so what I should do in that game? collect socks or avoid them?

Avoid the socks. Use space bar to jump and right arrow key to actually make it over the rows of socks.

Wow, I haven't seen a Game Maker game in years... I thought Game Maker was dead.  ovO

And it was this comment that got me on the Game Maker website. My husband and I have our hearts set on making a 2D pony game, but we've been intimidated by Unity's steep learning curve.

After I get home from work today, I'm going to doodle around with Game Maker a bit. Thanks, dude!

Who got to see the demonstration table? I want all the details!

So what happens if Hasbro files a copyright claim? Is LoE different enough from MLP:FIM that you guys can claim you've made an MMORPG that's in the pony genre, but you're not specifically trying to capture Hasbro's fans?

If a claim does come, will you have to overhaul the esthetics or will 5 years worth of work go out the window?

I don't mean to be a Negative Nelly here, but as the deadline for release draws near, I've gotten a little worried. I've seen what happened to totally original fan projects like Button's Adventures.

I mean... if it's a choice between no LoE at all and LoE under a different name with all the characters looking like this:

I'll take the 'Legends of Horse Land' and lumpy...monstrous characters.

No matter who gets accepted, are you guys more interested in dialogue, story scenarios for quests, lore, humorous entries for when you mouse over an item's description, or something else entirely?

:3 Oh, this is gonna be too awesome! I wonder how good the writers are!

Oh my gosh, you have NO idea how excited I got when I saw this thread with yesterday's timestamp. I created an account solely to say 'howdy' and apply. When otherwise not occupied sleeping or eating, I'm spending all my time worldbuilding for the MLP universe.

-How their logogram writing system evolved out of cutiemark pictures.
-How their cuteness--their big eyes, broad forehead, general "roundness" of features-- may have been an adaptation to play against parental instincts in other animals prior to ponies banding together into organized societies.
-How and why they domesticated the entire planet, to where not even season happen on their own.

Oh my gosh! I so want to be useful to the LoE crowd!
