Edit: after reading all of the Biology and most parts of the story, I have a few questions, if you don't mind.
- How do you envision the substance called "Mana"?
- How does it "flow" through the body, I know you said Mana Channels but how do they work like the bloodstream or does it send impulses like the nervous system? Or something completely new, likely while talking about a substance without mass.
- What are "Magitrons", "Thaums" and "Primes"?
Answers to these might give me a more in depth view on how your theory works.

Different, yes. Unrelated, I don't believe it is.
All magic is preformed by those who show affinity to magic, something that comes with certain species or races.
The way of conducting it from "the mind" into "the physical world" would be specific to each specie or race.
Unicorn/Alicorn/Changeling --> with their horn; Draconequus(/Dragon/Phoenix/...) --> with whatever it may be.

Well, I don't mind drinking Pepsi but Coca Cola is just more served in Belgium.
