((Sorry, won't happen again. Hopefully))

Wrenching his eyes away from the academy, he responded, "Well, I would really like to learn more about the very fundamentals of magic, and its integration within both the pony itself, and how it is manifested in the real world." Pausing for a moment, he continues "Now, don't get me wrong, other aspects of magic are important to me too! It's just, well, there is no real purpose to learn about advanced magic, if it can't be enacted, in even its simplest form." As a concerned look passes his face, he continues, "However, the same can be said in reverse. If you don't know what to try to gain to, then why trouble with learning to use magic?" Pondering the problematic occurrence, he shakes his head, "However, that is working with the aplication, so I'll just stick with learning the integration and the manifestation of magic ." Blinking for a moment, Lumi turns back to Nala "Does that answer your question ?"

Lumi walked along oblivious of their follower, rubbernecking all the way.

Went to State choir Competition, and we were best in state for six categories, out of eight. Success

"Not a clue!" Laughing, he heads of to the central clump of buildings.

"Oh, well, that's ok. We all have to be lost for a while when we're new." Looking around, he thinks on it for a moment, and laughs at a notion. Straining to keep a straight face, "Well, if neither of us know where anything else is," extending a hoof he asks "care to be lost with me?"

Grinning now rather merrily he responded " I'm Lumi. I'm looking to apply here." Chuckling he says, " Sorry if it's a bit blunt, but do you know where I should go for that?" Gesturing  about at the expanse of the Academy, " I don't know about you, but I'd rather not wander around for ages."

Astonished at the interesting little phoenix that just flew down from above, he gapes. Wow, I guess they don't lie when they say anything and everything is here! Lumi shock his head, "Hello," he smiles "I was just browsing the grounds you have here."  Smiling he murmurs " It really is amazing here. "

((Yeah, I like being descriptive. It adds nice depth.))

Lumi started walking towards the center most building. Maybe the headmaster is in there. I hope they are nice. Slowing down, he starts to think, Although they probably don't know I'm here, so he ponders, looking about the grounds, They probably won't notice if I take a little browse of their garden.
Deciding upon his course of action, Lumi starts to enjoy this opportunity of perusing the academy grounds.

Trudging up to the gate of the imposing behemoth of a school, he got his first real look at the academy. The high rising towers  with their flying buttresses reaching out, as if to grab the sky, the buildings of stone ancient and worn, all laced with magic heavy enough it was visible, even to him. The grounds too, it seemed, were well maintained, statues adorning the ground like an ancient game of chess. Yet, were he to say the sight was the least of it would seem to be true. The very air thrummed with magic, charged and willing to be released. It felt like that static and dry feeling that arises just before a storm, chaotic and powerful, yet reigned in. Truly this was a place of great magic and learning. The magic, it seemed, permeated everything within the grounds of the campus, flowing out of it, yet with so much still present.
Now, to say that Lumi looked out of place is a significant understatement. Who was he, this little old earth pony, doing in a place of great learning, such as this? After all, he though with a glance, his cutie mark wasn't even close to related to magic, being the carved tree it was.
Yet, despite all the daunting obstacles, he was bound and determined to go and learn. There was much in his way, yes, but it was all a matter of will. And, he though, what could be better to try the impossible? After all, if a earth pony can learn non-euclidean magic, who's to say that he can't learn more? Sighing, he walked towards the gate, and towards the impossible.

((Yes, I know, it's third person. I'm sorry. It's just that I love pumping as much detail as possible in during the first bit or two, especially if it's a jump-in, otherwise no one knows who you are or why you might react how you do. The rest will be first person, Pinkie Promise.)

Hmm... well, despite no one really being here right now, I've already sunk about 3-4 hr reading all of this stuff, so... yeah.
Let's see if we can try and get at least something moving, eh?

I, personally, loved both of them. However, I did prefer Snow Drop over Double Rainboom, due to the fact that it seemed, as ironic as it sounds being about a world of colorful ponies and their adventures to find friendship, more real. It held less of an animation hold over Rainboom, but it just kind of stuck with you.

Original Characters / A Simple OC
2013 Apr 04, 23:32:17
Let's launch at this eh?

Name: Lumi
Gender: Stallion
Age: 23
Species: Earth Pony
Appearance: A soft coat the color of new grass, and young fields, slightly overgrown perhaps, but not terribly so. His mane, falling down to his withers and curling to the side of his face, held a soft light to it. It looked akin to  being that of the color of the pages from a well loved, but old, book. Despite his mane having a bit of a poof, it was only due to a gently frizz it always seemed to suffer from. His tale was probably the most ragged of him though, being a little ruffled here and there, and a little short of a cut, but still maintained that soft color of his mane.
Eyes: A soft amber
Cutie Mark: A small carved wooden tree
Personality: A slow and eternally hopeful child at heart. He adores a good story, loves in retelling them, and has gotten pretty good at the art of storytelling. He often struggles with those who try to assert themselves as better, and is confused by those who act simply on a whim.
Home/Residence: He was raised on the outskirts of Fillydelphia, but now he lives just a block or two from it's train station. However, as he was lucky enough to attain a job working on the trains, he isn't home often.
Occupation: Server/Sweeper for the Equestrian Transit System
Likes: Stories, Kind ponies, Slow actions, Thinking before Leaping, Listening
Dislikes: Loud ponies, Arrogance

General Bio (Only slightly adjusted for differing RPs):
Living a calm little life in Fillydelphia, Lumi enjoyed learning about the old stories of the old heroes and legends. He was always a little behind the others in school and such, but he tried to not let it bother him. However, when it came to the old history, he excelled. Often he was caught up in fanciful thoughts of times long gone by. As such, he often had "adventures" of his own, chasing the pirating pidgins away, challenging his friends to duels, ending far too often with someone having a black eye or several scrapes and bruises, and everyone with milkshakes. Milkshakes, those things, he wouldn't trade for all the pirate battles in the world.
However, when it was announced that they would do a project on something they enjoyed, and present it to the class, he decided to actually launch himself at these projects. He spent hours slaving over a simple wooden plank, eventually getting it to look like a good, old fashioned sword of wood. Then, a terror befell him. What good was fine weapon, if your armor fell apart at the touch?
Needless to say, a good week or so later when a full, colt sized, armor suit and exceptionally laden colt inside them arrived to school, the school teacher was surprised.
Since that fateful day, whenever he was stressed, or when he had an idea for pieces that would add to stories impact when they were told, he would work tirelessly at creating miniature ponies for his stories. He loved carving them, after all, stories are magnificent, but they are still incorporeal, as opposed to his wooden works, born from the sweat and tears of his work and that of a tree.
Alas, you can't live of of stories, at least most ponies can't, so he finally settled down to work for the train station. After all, if he couldn't have his own adventures, he could at least see the sights out there and imagine. Fortunately, since he was so filled with wonder, he was always eager and willing to see the world, and they never lost there glory to him. Since then, he has been there, spinning stories of wonder and glory to any willing to only listen.

Introductions Archive / Greetings all!
2013 Apr 04, 19:57:10
Well, as the title says, Hello to all of you! It will be a pleasure to meet you all, and then an awkward few moments when I'm trying to remember why I know you. I hope to see you all here!

Not much to say about me personally, other than the love of reading and chess. And MLP. And puzzles. And rhetorical banters that last far too long than actually needed. Regardless, hi!
