I was in the WoW alpha and beta, and I played until Cataclysm, and had no issues, but often wished for the style of control I have here. I grew up prior to 3D game engines existing. Prior to Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Heretic, and others. I guess playing them as a pre-teen and teen when they came out formed my preference. And that's fine. If you enjoy it better that way, more power to you! In fact, when playing Star Trek Online, I tend to shift into the mode that turns it into sort of a third-person shooter, myself. Y'know, when fighting planetside. Can't do that in starship combat, last I checked.
QuoteWith that said, I don't see why what you're requesting couldn't be implemented as an optional control style. Plenty of games have multiple control styles to please a broader base. I loved the Daggerfall style of combat and movement myself. Maybe a dev can answer it better though.Absolutely. I encourage having multiple options for control styles to play with. Different control schemes to fit different types of players. I have certain styles for certain genres I'm used to that I really like, but I don't want to have those to the exclusion of someone else's preferences. At the same time, when my specific control preferences are not supported, it's often a serious detriment to my overall experience with a game.
