Introductions / Re: Leave of Absence Thread
2013 Aug 07, 06:56:01
I won't be around much for a while, due to work and everything. I had some issues at my job and I'm switching companies- so it kind of takes my full attention. I'll be back in a while when things settle down~ Much love, everypony!
2
((Anyway you like, Rainbow! Just appear out of nowhere, is all.))

"On a normal basis, I actually do ask Mares to avoid the cabins. I believe Stallions can handle the colts just fine." Springstep offered. "However, since there are no colts, I'm willing to let this one slide."
3
Springstep nodded. "Left it is, then."

The left road led up a gentle hill. It curved and tucked under a tall arch. It was hard to read in the dark, but even by the overcast light from the flashlights, the large text was visible. It read 'Colt's Cabins'. Underneath it was a hoof-painted sign that read 'No fillies allowed!'.

The cabins were eerie at this hour. They were built as log cabins, no two pieces alike. There were five buildings, much smaller than the buildings around the main ring. They each had a name posted above them- Headless Horse among them.

"This is where the colts are supposed to sleep." Springstep sighed. "Granted, getting colts to sleep is another task on its own."
4
Up ahead on the dirt road was a fork. One split to the north, another toward south. Springstep stood at the edge of the fork and turned to the group. "You have a choice."

Springstep turned to the North. "You can turn right,"

Then she looked South. "Or your can turn left."

"We can only choose one."
5
"Then off we go." Springstep pushed through the door. This was a new chapter in her life. Today was something to be truly grateful for. She was going to remember this day and thank Celestia for its coming. Now, the night was beginning. She made a mental note to thank Luna for this, too.

The door opened up into the open court, a dirt circle about fifty ponies wide. In the center was a well, long since dried up and left alone. That well was here when Springstep first claimed the land. Nopony had any knowledge of it. It was simply present, the last memory of someone who used it long ago.

"Welcome to Everfree Camp." Springstep almost whispered. "When I found it, this clearing had no trees, no water, and even few frogs. Every night the moon shines over it and mourns its reflection that once resided in the well. Maybe, if the moon gets its wish, water will flow in this well again."

Then she explained where the office was, the mess hall, and proudly announced the establishment of an apothecary, which would be open to every bump and bruise when it is ready. She then pointed just between the entrance and the offices.

"Over there is the entrance to the trails. There are only a couple of small trails now that take you to the other side of the camp." She shrugged them off. The trails were only the shortcuts Springstep took every morning to cross the camp. They barely qualified as trails- which made them perfect for tiny first-hikers. "However, beware, there are a few stretches of trails I have not finished. They are not marked, only trampled. Beware, for you do not know where they will take you. I advise against them."

Northwest of Blue's Apothecary was a wide path, heavily beaten and spacious. "This way, if you will. I'll show you the cabins for all the colts and fillies."

((Never fear! Tiny.parcel has finally gotten out of work! Hazzah!))

Springstep noted Blue's wording, but was tickled by the prospect of a tour. She nodded to Blue's lantern. "That's a good idea, but this is a camp, after all. We have plenty of flashlights everywhere. Having foals wandering around after Cabin-Time is dangerous. Flashlights make them safer, and also easier to find. I've made sure that they are readily available."

She turned to the door frame. There was a few things there in a small Emergency Kit section. First Aide, Flashlights enough for occupancy limitations, Fire-Extinguishers; all the basic things needed for safety and recovery were available. There were even a few things clearly labeled for emergency of an allergic reaction. Springstep had gone through so many ropes and papers that it was impossible to run a camp that was not readily prepared.

"There's at least one of these kits for every doorway in this camp." Springstep said this with pride. Why shouldn't she? She had to place every single one herself. "Here we are, flashlights. Normally I wouldn't take so many extra batteries, but we've met both Timberwolves and an exploding pony in the past couple of hours."

She arranged each of the ponies in pairs;
Blue with Smart Cookie,
Bad Harmony with Saiko,
and of course Rain with Shine.

"Things have been odd, tonight. I know this is only a late tour, but I think a little extra preparation might be called for. If the sky starts falling, take the nearest shelter and meet up back at the mess hall. Ready, everypony?"
7
"If you guys would like, I can give you a quick tour of the grounds." Springstep offered. "Normally I would say wait until morning, but if you're not tired, everything looks so different at night. It's a bit exciting."
8
"Thanks, Cookie.' Springstep was relieved to have the weight off her flank. She pushed a plate toward Blue, then toward the guest in her care.

"Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but did you mention black magic?" Her face turned dark as her sentence tumbled on. She stormed in a calm fashion toward the stallion with a hint of spite. "I think I heard the word 'summon', too. Well let me be clear. What you do on your spare time is fine- but you keep it away from my camp."
9
Springstep returned with coffee and a few plates of food for both Combustion Pony and Blue. The setup was a bit precarious, but Springstep was a natural for balance. Too bad she never practiced it. "A hoof, please? Where can I set these down?"
10
"Psycho?" Springstep stammered. "I suppose that explains the explosion..."
11
"Blue am I glad to see you." Once the pony had arrived. "This pony's name is Sa, but I think there was more to it."

Springstep walked a circle around him to see if there was a way to lift him with minimal harm. "If you need anything, let me know. In the meantime, I think getting you coffee and food is the most helpful."

So she got right on that.
12
Springstep's ears jumped at the explosion. She almost choked on an oat. She looked around the table, got up, and peeked out the door. She turned back to the pegasi. "Worst case scenario, Timberwolves have reinvented fireworks for themselves. Everything else is likely to be better than that."

She sighed. "Ya'll finish eatin'. I'll go look into that boom."

And so she did. She followed the source all the way down to a pony with a serious cough. That was reasonable. "Hello! Welcome to Everfree's Camp For Foals! How can I help you?"
13
Springstep had to carry a few plates around before she could get the main servings on the table. There were pastries, teas, bouquets even. She had managed one shockingly large Butternut Squash Pie. After a bit of hustle and bustle, she finally found herself a seat with the others.

"And no worries, desert is in the oven. If you all have room, that is. Though, I think I might be tuckered by morning. We might have to have a little leftovers for breakfast." Springstep nodded to the plates, a little sheepish. "So! Rain, Shine, I don't believe we got to meet, and Harmony, you appear to be a different Harmony than I met earlier. I'm not sure what you all know, but if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them."
14
Springstep could barely hear the pegasi come in over all the clanging pans. She leaned out the door. "Have a seat anywhere you please! There's plenty of room."
15
"You sure?" Springstep frowned. She shrugged at Omicron. "I'll save you leftovers if you want them in the morning."

She trotted off to the mess hall. At least the place was in order. Cooking wouldn't be too big of a deal. Springstep, being raised in Manehattan, had a wide range of spells to entertain. That was the nice thing about always expecting guests- you learned to cook for a group at the drop of a hat. The good thing about never having something twice a week? There is always another recipe on the mind. Springstep was well prepared.

Being a camp, it was made for large meals and large tables. Setting the plates was no trouble. It was almost like a dance. One step, two step, it's a wonder cooking with Springstep.
16
Springstep knew she had been little use in the fight. She had only taken a few wolves on herself. The few that remained were retreating faster than their legs could reasonably carry them. Spring knew they would see the wolves again. Hopefully, it wouldn't be anytime soon. At least she knew there was a team of ponies that could take them.

"I suppose Blue Star has gone home for the night. Omicron, do you think you could send her a message?" She sighed. She felt bad calling Blue in to work, even just to check up on those Harmony hadn't mysteriously healed; especially since the apothecary was barely started, much less ready to work. "Tell her to take her time, and walk carefully."

Springstep knew what the crew needed now. She walked carefully back into the camp. Her own legs were sore- she was no fighter. There was going to be a bump or two on her head in the morning. Still, she had to thank all these ponies. They were here to support her.

"Everyone take some time to rest and clean up." She smiled over her shoulder. "Meet in the mess hall in about an hour. I think we all have stories to tell, and by then I should have something to fill our bellies.Ya'll have certainly earned your keeps."

Original Characters / Re: MLP Supports
2013 Aug 01, 20:20:02
Thanks! I'm always wary about length, since words are, in a sense, currency of information. Don't put in a wheelbarrow where a handful will do. I will prolly do more of them. Granted, in the Game System the fourth level is often marriage, but I think in different sets you can further a friendship or rebuild one for our purposes rather nicely.

We could have one trio of establishment.
One trio of discovery can be interesting.
And yet another would be more interesting, still.
Since we are simply building dimension into our characters,
I imagine that we can go into as many rounds as we need.

And I just need to test font sizes for comparison.

So much for driving them off. A battle was in place. They had stepped over the line. Springstep snorted. "Harmony, we need fire. Omicron, try to disassemble them with your magic. You two, Shine and, Rain was it? See if you can scrape up a little bit of thunder and lightning. Cookie, you're with me. Kick and buck to get them to back up. We have to keep them off the others."

Off-Topic Archive / Happy Digimon Day!
2013 Aug 01, 08:51:23
As of today, August 1st, 2013, it is the 15th Anniversary of the first adventure of the Digi-Destined.

On that note, there was a game released in Japan, a report of ReDigitize for 3DS, but there seems to be no sign of it coming to the rest of the world. I know that I would love to play the game (and I am always hungry for more franchises on the 3DS). What I did find was:

A PETITION.

Happy anniversary, everypony, to an adventure we all loved~

"Of course I'm not sure. This is just a hunch." Springstep tossed a smile at the others. "However, if this doesn't work, we are more than capable of destroying them. We have no reason to fear."

Springstep kept her eyes trained on the wolves: notably one who seemed to lead. Springstep, despite her unspoken fears, stood firm. She kept herself calm. The ponies at her sides empowered her. Barely met, and yet fought beside her as true friends. It made her feel like authority. It was as if...

"Go home, wolves. Get."
