there's quite a few new members who keep saying they'll be pushing the game to its limits, and there's also rumors of possible intentional tweaking to expose security loopholes and such.  Will the tech team be prepared for that kind of stuff?
Oh yeah. We have all kinds of nifty tools up our sleeves to keep the bad ponies out, good ponies in, and make sure everypony else is having a good time. I'm not sure what much there is that you can do to purposely strain the server, though, besides spamming chat I suppose. And even then, I put in a spam filter, so that won't even work. I'm not terribly worried.

Nala Valor

I can't... :c my pc would run it for sure but I know what would happen.
My brother enters the room, sees the game is about ponies and will unplug the computer just because if I don't do as he say, I'll end up beeing rejected. He did it on e, I know he'll do it again. :l

And sorry for the tittle... It had to be done... ((If you know what I mean))

hackers, Anonymous, /b/, pranksters, the odd "tester" who happens to know more exploits than you've managed to patch, all that stuff.  Still, I put great faith in the programming team, and if you say the game is safe, I suppose I trust the game to be safe! ^-^

Hey, well on the off chance that someone does manage to cause more trouble than it's worth, not only would we learn something to be patched in the future, but we'd finally make use of our ban list ;).

I wonder if they are prepared for things like, good old DOS attacks? or even phishing.  Seriously these things are annoying if you get hit by them.
Currently: staring into space
Was: working on Tekner's MLP Minecraft Mod
Playing: Minecraft, Space Engineers, Cities: Skylines

that's what I was wondering, but Tekner sounds really confident about it.

Also ask yourself this: Why would a "hacker" try to flood our bandwidth this weekend as opposed to any other time? Why not DDOS our forums? That's way more vital than the game at the present time. Why not DDOS our servers any other time other than this weekend? We use them constantly in order to develop the game. On top of that, we have several dedicated hosts. It would take not only a powerful attack to bring one of them down, but it would take several simultaneous attacks on all of our hosts to bring us down. All of those factors just make it so very unlikely.

The Wandering Magus

meh, I trust you.  Just bringing up the possibility.

Luckily I don't think LoE is big enough (yet) to attract the attention of anyone who has any DOS power.

Anyone with any slave computers available would probably hit a more high-profile target, people usually do this for the attention factor, and bragging rights.

makes sense, although given the attention Bronyism in general has gotten in the past, you never know.  I'm probably just paranoid though.
