I need re-read it someday, but it´s so long, and I´m lazy.

If you didn't cry reading that, there's something wrong with you. :'(

Oh that's nice. :l
Seriously though, I've never cried over anything mlp related (yet).
Maybe that's because I tend to avoid 95% of all fanfics. I do like a good sad story though, I'm just too lazy to really look for one.

TBH, if i had been READING it, i doubt it would've done anything. half of the emotional reaction of mine came from the dude reading it aloud. actually put the emotion into it. i'd actually read most of MLD beforehand, but it was the WAY it was read that covered up the flaws in the fic with emotional... whats the word?... realism? i dunno. it felt real with someone reading it aloud the way they did.

I read all the stories I read aloud to capture that same feeling, because I agree hearing it aloud makes it feel more real. This fic was no exception. Still not affected.

This is a valid point of course, but the last sentence is very important.
The tools used to manipulate the viewer's emotions are well known and may be seen as cheap, but they are still pretty effective. However, they won't really work on the unwilling brain.

Why do women seem to cry more at romantic movies? Because men are supposed to be strong and don't want to cry.
This is the interesting thing about this fandom. We already watch a show for girls, so more are open to go into a story expecting to cry.

So yeah, it might be cheesy, but regardless of the methods used, the emotions induced are real and it can be enjoyable to embrace them.
Stories like these are written especially for this purpose, so if you don't want that, it's not for you.

GuitarBrony

the biggest problem is this, i think. in a normal, generic story, that have sad moments, cheesy wouldn't work. it would seem out of place. but, that differs from a sad story. take MLD, for example. its a sad story. it was meant to be sad. there are happy bits, but thats to make it all the more sad when you read it. so, a bit of cheesy here and there can be acceptable. not all sad moments in life will be somber and sullen. some will be sappy and mushy. a lot of people go into sad stories expecting to get a bunch of deep, somber, reflective moments, and so it comes as awkward to see some cheesy bits. yes. in a death-based sadfic, cheesy would turn me off to it as well. but in something like MLD, where its meant to be heart-warming yet sad, a bit of cheese can make the story all the more effective (not really gonna give my opinion on MLD, just using it as an example), as long as it isnt ALL cheesy.

again, this is just my opinion. i'm really not that big into sadfics, so, i may be wrong. but, i think sometimes cheesy can be just as useful as seriousness

I just read My little Dashie, I didn´t cry, didn´t even feel like crying, the pacing was way to fast for me to feel emotionally attached to Dashie or the human, and I thought it was longer.

The Wandering Magus

I suppose each to their won :]

If anything, it made me want to avoid Fallout. I found the pacing awful.
