If you don't use the launcher, then yes, you will need to download the game as ZIP again to get the updated version.

Do I have to complete the Cursed Statue quest too?

Yes, Mindless Violins only gives you the socks now, so it woks as intended. For the Cat Egg you need to complete the Quest from Pyrite.

I think some of the quests will only work properly now, if you haven't started them yet.



So you could try to make a new character (if you haven't already tried, that is) and start the quest again.
If it still won't work, I'm out of ideas. In this case you should probably file a bug report on phabricator.

No, you don't have to start all over, don't worry.

Is there something we'd need to download in order to have the update or what?

To update the game, you have to start the LoE Launcher. When updates are available, the button usually labelled Launch, will say "Update" instead.
Alternatively you can manually re download the game from the download section to update.

The downloads page says that the normal windows downloader is for the old version, the only ones running the new update are the direct download links. they look significantly larger in file size, and im not sure which one to get.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "normal windows downloader". I'm guessing you mean the Launcher?
The launcher is only an application to download and update the game for you, this is why it is smaller and older.

If you already use the launcher, there is no need to re download it.

The game isn't released yet.
If you're not part of the Limited Access Release testers, you won't be able to login until another wave of testers are invited, or the game is released to the public (or Open Server Weekends).

If you were invited to the LAR, you don't get a code to login, you login via the password and username you use for the forums.

And here I am!
Well, I watched this project growing for a while now and decided to join.
And no, I'm not a native English speaker as you might have noticed.
(I'm from the land where everybody/pony talks like Photo Finish.)
But I hope, I'm doing not too bad. Correct me, or ask if you don't understand, I'll try to explain. 

Well, so what else?
I'm 18, love to play instruments, like to draw and I'm Admin of a German Sonic forum.
