The sad story of my OC, Moon Pearl.

MOON PEARL-



         Moon Pearl is a Bat winged Pony, resident and Guard of the Pony Princesses and Pony Citizens of Canterlot city and Castle, along with her little brother. Currently she serves mainly under Luna's command, as part of her Mane Elite Force. She commands the winged division, the best of the best that Luna has under her orders; they only being called on duty when the situation is too much for the regular Pony militia to handle.  She is a skillful fighter and flyer, being the fastest Winged Bat Pony in her unit. Her weapons of choice are three claws located in both horse shoes of the armor she dons, they act like ankle guards but they can expand at will, transforming in a set of three sharp, curved, razor-like blades that are rumored to be sharp enough to pierce through the hardest materials and Metal in Equestria, even Dragon Scales. Recruited only a few months after Princess Luna returned from her banishment the Moon. She saw talent in her and her little brother, and after almost six months of rigorous training, she was named knight and promoted to Commander, with honors, the same day as her brother, who also was promoted, as they showed that they had what was needed to be part of Luna´s Elite Force of guards. Her unit is composed of three Winged  Bat Ponies, all female. There is a reason she only admits female Winged bats or even Pegasus mares; she can only get along with mares. She is closed to stallions, having problems to trust them; no matter if they are regular stallions or male Bat Ponies.  Always looking at them down her hoof.  The only Stallion she trusts, even with her life is her own, little Brother, Jagged Zircon, who is an Elite Commander of his own division (Earth Vamponies and Earth Ponies). She has a harsh, rude, reckless attitude; those are the most distinctive characteristics in Moon Pearl's behavior, they could be seen as a weakness, but they're also her virtues, as she always manages to go through hardest battles and situations with only scratches and a messy mane. Her aggressiveness is well known and admired amongst her unit, and those who know her well, knows that she is a mare of a word, and that can be trusted, as she never let one of her soldiers behind, going to the length that she once was badly wounded in the chest while protecting a unconscious soldier in the mist of a fight with a flock of changelings; the scar she has is a constant reminder of that day.

BACKSTORY:
Moon Pearl was born in a cave, in wild state, somewhere in the jungle of Mare-ida, in the Yucatan Ponynsula. Her father was a traveler, adventurer, and business Earth Pony named Evergreen Ramon, who was in a travel of archeological discovery and study of the indigenous Flora and Foalna to write his findings, publish them, and make some money and profit with his findings. As He was traveling and investigating about the indigenous bat ponies of the area, he fell in love with a Winged Bat Pony named Rayo De Esperanza- As their feelings were mutual, they both started to become closer and closer, Ramon starting to have a change of heart, until one day, they married. As expected, they had foals, a Winged Pony (Moon Pearl)at first, and two years later, an Earth Vampony (Jagged Zircon). The marriage lasted until the brothers turned eight and six years, as the Maretrimony started to be unstable due the once again, selfish Husband wanting to return to his old habits of getting profit and money fast, and because he didn't treated his Winged offspring as well as he treated her Earth Pony foal, thing that constantly angered her wife. The whole situation usually ended in a discussion almost In daily basis. Eventually, Evergreen left the house they had, stating that he would make a living in another part of the Ponynsula.  After a long process the maretremony was over, and it was decided that each of them would take care of one of the two foals. He took Jagged Zircon (the younger son) with him and Moon Pearl stayed with her mother. Before his brother departed, she gave him a scarf she made herself with her own hooves as a memento, making him promise that he would wear it always, and so they got separated from each other. Years would pass until they could see each other again.....
    When Moon Pear turned ten years old in equine years, she earned her cutie mark. There's no documented info about how she get it, as some parts of her past before joining Luna's Elite are unknown and she never told anyone how it happened, except her mother. The only hint is that her cutie mark has a relation with the dark part of herself, and how it always makes contrast with the kindness inside of her heart and how, in her moments of tribulations, she would soar in the full moon night, and she would always talk to the moon, as if she could listen to her problems. She always saw it as a giant, beautiful pearl floating in the night.
When she was a teenager, she met a Pegasus Pony mare named Vivian, and both became best friends shortly after. They shared many memories together, and her friendship was pure, like no other Pony would ever experience. They grew together, had happy and sad moments, and they were inseparable. Their relationship started to grow even more, transforming into something else, and Moon Pearl realized about that......that mare, her friend, was also her very special somepony.  One Hearts and Hooves day, Moon Pearl gave her a great gift that would cause her friendship to be more open to everypony, displaying the love they have to each other without a care in the world, openly to everypony and anypony who may ask. Moon Pealr was independent and living in a cottage she rented to a old mare near her mother's house, when she decided that Vivian was the one Pony she wanted to spend the rest of her life ......But, as happy as the relationship continued for both mares, it couldn't last forever. When she was twenty three years old, one fateful day, disaster struck, as Vivian started to fell in love with another Pony, a stallion, and little by little, Moon Pearl started to lose weight in Vivian's feelings. A few months later, Moon Pearl was about to propose maretrimony to Vivian, but it was too late already: she rejected Moon Pearl´s proposal in front of her own Family, claiming that she was thankful for everything they shared over the years but, that she was unable to feel the same spark with her, not anymore. She bid farewell to her former friend with a kiss in the muzzle, and so, the relationship they shared, died. Just like that. That was the first time that Moon Pearl couldn't even see the Moon at night, as the clouds reflected her inner sadness, covering the night and bathing the bat pony instead, raindrops mixing with her tears.....
Moon Pearl was devastated. She stopped flying after that, walking or trotting, crestfallen and teary eyed, whenever she needed to go. The shock and trauma of that event in her life, made her develop a condition where she could extend her wings, but couldn't take off or even fly for the next several years. Her pain was unbearable; she lost weight, got sick, and suffered a terrible depression, almost starting to think that life wasn't worth living anymore. She got bedridden shortly after returning to her home in Mare-ida jungle. Her mother was startled and worried. As they kept contact each other by letters, she was well aware about how deep, was the relationship between her daughter and that mare named Vivian, whose her daughter loved so much. Esperanza was yet unable to believe why Vivian just dumped and rejected Moon Pearl like that. Pearl told her about the proposal she wanted to do to her, and how miserable she was feeling, and that she needed to move on with her life....even if she had to leave Mare-ida, to put some distance between, and forget the past. Ever since that day, she cried day and night. Her mother knew that there was no other option for her daughter: a change of scenario was needed, and Esperanza agreed, suggesting her daughter to move with her father and brother, silently hoping that her ex-husband could be tolerant and comprehensive......
Pearl moved one year later with her Father, keeping on touch with her mother, and hoping to get along with his dad, and leave all the pain behind. To her disappointment, Jagged had left his father a few years earlier, looking for independence, and when she arrived, things went wrong since the beginning. Moon Pearl and her dad couldn't agree on the simplest thing, not at all; always fighting, always arguing for nonsenses of her Father. She was employed as a mail Pony during her period living with him, but she was starting to grow tired of her constant fights with Evergreen Ramon. The continuous fights and discussions with her father, who called her "useless wings" just to get on her nerves, made her choose to move on from that dreadfull place as her brother did. Although she stayed in there for almost four years, she then left as well, moving away, hoping to never see his Father again. This time she left the Ponynsula.
She then spent some time traveling to the corners of Greater Equestria, moving to city to city, working whenever she needed to save some bits to continue her journey on train, boat or on hoof (she was still unable to fly again). She went to Vanhoover,  Manehattan, Fillydelphia  and finally, arriving Ponyville. Here, she found that her brother was living near a place called Sugar Cube Corner. She didn't waste any time, she asked everypony about a gray Pony with Crimson mane and tail, wearing a green scarf, the one she gave to him in her fillyhood. She finally found her brother's house, and knocked at the door with her already weakened hooves..... and they both had a tearful reunion. After all those years separated, they were together again. Jagged, her brother, then offered shelter and food to her, as Moon Pearl was in a deplorable, emaciated state.  They shared their stories to each other, they had a lot to catch up; about their lives, their sorrow, how he ended in this small town.... they had much to chat about. They were overwhelmed by joy; many years away one of the other and now they were together again. A few days later, Moon Pearl was able to fly again, thanks to the words and support of Jagged Zircon.
     Shortly after her arrival to Ponyville, Jagged Zircon told her sister about the Summer Sun Celebration, which was just a week ahead. Both he and Pearl had grown hearing stories about the legendary fight between the Princesses of the Sun and Moon, and they knew that only Celestia was in charge of both the Sun and Moon now. They were excited, as they would be able to meet Princess Celestia in her Pony Glory. They were so eager to watch.....Instead, they witnessed  when the mythical mare of Darkness almost seized control of the kingdom, as well they were among the crowd and paid they respects when Princess Luna returned, after a thousand years away, happy that she was again reassuming her royal duty, realizing thanks to the townsfolk and a group of Ponies very close to the faithful student of Princess Celestia, that all this time she never meant to become Nightmare Moon to begin with.
A couple of months later, Jagged wanted to join the Princesses army, as they were recruiting Ponies to form a new guard force under Princess Luna's command, and they needed Ponies willing to protect her highness, but not anypony, she demanded Ponies with strong will and hearts. Moon Pearl also wanted to become a guard herself, to her brother dismay, as he always protected her when they were together, and even if she had a short fuse and aggressive temperament, she also was her sister, a delicate mare, and he had to look for her. Despite this, they both submitted they request, and both were selected to go to the boot camp in the U.P.E .Academy to commence their training.                       
They didn't take much to be noticed by everypony. As jagged excelled in strength, her sister also displayed prowess and talents that soon caught the attention of Luna Herself, moving the cadets to the reserves of her own personal guard. Soon, they became leaders and commanders of their own divisions, along with a young Unicorn Mare named  Misty Morning Dew, who despite her soft and delicate Crystal look, was expert in Ice and Water Magic and close combat. 
Moon Pearl is an agile flyer, as she can fight in the air and the ground easily, although she prefers to keep airborne much of the time, after being unable to fly for several years after all what she came through before being named Officer. Unlike the regular guards and Militia under Celestia and Luna's, the Elite Force has special armor, matching the traits of the Pony wearing it. In Moon Pearl's case, her suit of armor is custom, fabricated with Earth Pony Steel and Dragon Scales. She wears a helmet with a set of magic glass in every eye, night-vision enhanced with them. Also, she wears wields six retractable claws, three on each hoof.

TRIVIA:
-She hates to dress with fancy, elegant garments. She never gives a buck about how she looks, the only piece of cloth she likes was given to her by her mother, and she only wears it sometimes during her free days. Her armor is the only thing she likes to dress, but sadly, she can't wear it in her free days, those are the rules.

- Most of the time she walks and flies around naked, as most of Ponyville population. She got accustomed to this quickly, since she had to wear a cloak in her house back in Mare-ida, and remain dressed in her time in Marehattan, Vanhoover and Fillydelphia.

-She loves little critters, but, ironically, she is afraid of bats.

-There are rumors, unconfirmed, that she and her brother are descendants of a Powerful Alicorn Wizard, who lived during the time Before Celestia. This ancient Chaynesse Wizard, only known as Ugetsu, had enhanced hearing, powerful legs and the faster and strongest wings of that time.  Luna and Celestia noticed that Jagged had an unusual strength in her hooves (he caused one big portion of the training grounds to shake and crack during combat training, damaging the walls nearby), and that Moon Pearl had the uncanny ability to hear the incoming threat and defend without even seeing it (she once fought and defeated a group of three stallions bullying her; after one of them blinded her throwing mud in her face, she knocked them all out cold, and yet she washed her face in the nearest fountain....all of that while temporally blind).

-It's rumored, due the knowledge of her past relationship, that Moon Pearl is actually, lesbian. Despite this, there is also rumors of her acting extremely shy, fidgeting and babbling when she is addressed by certain Pegasus Stallion serving to Princess Celestia as one of her guards.

-She was offered to join to the weather management team by rainbow Dash herself, but she rejected the job as she is very clumsy to manipulate clouds, even if she can sit on them. In fact, she is so clumsy with them that every cloud she touches becomes volatile.
