Aww, such a wonderful animation. :')

Aside from the fact that they put a blind pony in a school full of normal ponies... which makes me wonder if there is even a school for disabled ponies... the character Snowdrop was very well developed. Due to her blindness, she had a (rather predictable) heightened sense of hearing, which I assume she uses to navigate the skies, unless she gets escorted around all the time by her mother.

She has a very easy to like personality, innocent and non-confrontational with a hint of naivety. Then again, she is of that age where such traits are expected out of a female protagonist. The implications that the other ponies avoid and/or tease her makes it easier to sympathize with her. I almost get the feeling she was created to be sympathized with, due to how much is going against her at such a young age.

One thing that struck me as deliberately... maybe even overly emotional, was her wishing upon a star in tears. I won't go into that anymore than saying she was probably sadder than the situation called for.

That spark the moment inspiration literally struck her, albeit softly, she began... drawing on a snowflake with a feather off her own wing. The noise and sensation of the snow bouncing off her skin guided her feather as she attempted to create the image of a star she had visualized in her mind, even though she has never seen a star before (but she has apparently heard them twinkle... somehow). The amount of symbolism here is enormous, as well as the symbolism from when she was explaining her star concept to Princess Celestia.

The thing I liked the most about the entire thing was the morale of the story. Everyone learned something important and their lives improved as a result. I can overlook almost any technical flaw in a story if it teaches... or even just reiterates a positive message to the reader/watcher. So, to Snowdrop, I say good job!

Im going to need some time before I leave a full opinion liquid pride almost took over

Ok ok im good the dueling pony is good

This was good it was very strong and the animation work was great in it, I wont lie going in I wasnt expecting to much just a short story, But oh my did I get more It was well sutied to the mood, Though I cant say the full portaial of the blind pony was met but In some sence that was a good thing not to dwell on an already darker subject but in other points some of the school sceen just seemed off

Tiger

Wait, Snowdrop is blind?

She seemed perfectly normal and I saw no suggestion of her being blind  :o Maybe I wasn't listening to the dialog enough  X3

Anyway, a touching story indeed. The animation was also really well done.
Is it bad I thought her mom was dead when she remembered about her mom saying that she had really good hearing?

A link to my tumblr above!
Tiger's OC page. Should re-do it...

PrincessButton

The story was both adorable and heartwarming. :') Other than when all the other foals were disregarding Snowdrop as a burden and all that, I enjoyed it thoroughly. c:

When I saw her eyes, I was hoping they weren't like that just to look cool. I figured it might be an effect to show that she's blind. And sure enough, after a while, they mentioned that she was blind.

I thought her mom was dead too. X3 I'm actually glad her mom wasn't dead. It actually makes the story better than her mom was still alive, and not tragically dead just to make things depressing.

Spoiler: My thoughts (Warning! Rant!) • show
Snowdrop upsets me quite a bit.
Basically, it's a sad fic when it REALLY didn't need to be. Let me explain, spoilers to the story for anyone who has not watched it.

So our main character is blind and is regarded as useless and unliked. This immediately states we should feel sorry for Snowdrop.
How drool....
Anyways, we get some background on Snowdrop, that's good. Points!
Snowdrop's mother (who is unnamed) heavily cares for her daughter and acts as her moral support through a flashback. (disregard non-existant father) This is also good, more points.
At the end we get a very touching speech from Snowdrop to the princesses and her classmates and what SHOULD HAVE BEEN a happy ending.

Why do I think it should it have been a happy ending?
First off, the start of our story if Celestia speaking to the viewer as if she was reading or telling us a story out of a book. She starts off by mentioning how some forget how the snowflake came to be. Keep in mind the premise has just been set to tell us how the snowflake came to be.
The ending (SPOILERS) cuts to the present day setting of the show in which they drop the last snowflake Snowdrop had made herself. This to me is a VERY BAD MOVE on the writer's or writers' part as this just seems to be a way to get people to remember the animation longer by making them cry. People tend to remember those extremely sad moments for much longer than happier ones.

By my opinion it should have ended by telling us that after Snowflake had grown to be loved by her classmates and tell of us of her successful life, then close with words like "And that is how the snowflake came to be"

If you're wondering by now, yes I somewhat hate sad fics. Especially when the sadness is used in place of what could have been a more conclusive, happier ending.
Yes, I shed tears. I did not like them though. I was upset for 2 days straight, that was not fun.

(Also if there's a nasty storm why didn't the teacher walk the blind filly home?! >:O)

EDIT
I forgot the mention that the good things about this is the animation is awesome. Far better than Double Rainboom and the voice acting is very nice.
Backgrounds are very pretty, it's overall far more visually better and sounding better than Double Rainboom. Story writing is just bad at the end.
